Chapter 2:
While the three sisters were having fun at the movie theater, their parents were waiting at the airport. Balraj was bubbling over with excitement at the prospect of seeing his best friend. He had been waiting eagerly since the past week, when he received a phone call from Lalit saying that he was returning to India with his family.
"Teji, do you see them yet? Are they here? I wonder if he'll even recognize me" exclaimed Balraj, as he searched the alighting passengers to see a familiar face.
"Ji. Calm down. Their flight landed just five minutes ago. They still have to get their luggage. Aap please zara chup hojaiye" replied Teji, as she laughed silently looking at her husband's childish excitement to see his friend.
*********
Meanwhile, a family of five alighted from the airplane and made their way to the baggage claim.
"After so long, I get to finally see Balraj. I wonder if he'll even recognize me…" Lalit murmured to himself, silently lost in his old memories.
"Han dad, you were so handsome back then. I wonder if Balraj Uncle will even know who you are now cause you look so different" said Harman, the middle brother, as he nudged his younger brother in the shoulder.
"Shut up, Bhai. Hamari chand toh bohut hi handsome hain, without any hair, even more than before. Who won't recognize our chand?" teased Preet, as he gave a quick high five to his brother before hiding behind his mother, who was silently giggling to herself.
"Even you, Gayatri? I always knew my sons were against me, but even my wife? Haila. What a world!" he whined to himself. "At least I know my oldest son will be obedient to me. Haina beta?" questioned Lalit, turning around to his son, the apple of his eye.
"Hmm" was all he got in response to his question though. Prem was too busy on his phone, checking emails and replying back to them. "Just give me five minutes Bauji. I leave the office for two days and they can't get anything done. Mr. Singh of Bundela Industries will be coming to see the hotel for his daughter's reception and it will be a heavy loss if they don't manage it correctly" sighed an exhausted Prem, as he clicked away rapidly on his phone.
"Bhaiya, we landed in India no less than five minutes ago, and you're already on your phone, working working. This is supposed to be a break from all of that, remember?" questioned Harman, as he pulled the phone away from his brother's hands.
"What will Bhabhi say once she gets to know ki hamari bhaiya ko toh already shaadi ho chuki hain? Unki kaam se?" guffawed Preet, not letting his brother get a chance to say anything in between.
Gayatri piped in, "Prem beta. Ab tu India itne saalon ke baad aaya hain toh yahaan koi kaam waam nahin. Mere bahu ko time de, kyun?"
Prem blushed a deep crimson red at his mother's and brother's words and teasing. Since the day his father had told him that he was to marry Balraj Uncle's oldest daughter, Prem never bothered to argue, and just accepted his father's decision. He knew that this trip to India was not only for the sake of visiting, but also so that his family could see his future wife.
Not wanting to prolong this topic and be subjected to more teasing, Prem turned to his parents and asked them if they wanted to go ahead and find Balraj and Teji, while the three brothers went to get their luggage.
"Good job Bhai" whispered Preet as his parents set off in the opposite direction. "Now we won't have to see their reunion, which I can guarantee will be loud and embarrassing."
And Preet ended up being correct.

"Lallu, mere Dost!" exclaimed Balraj as he spotted Lalit and Gayatri emerging from the crowd.
"Oy! Ballu, mere Yaar!" responded Lalit with just as much fervor and excitement.
The two friends rushed towards each other, pulling each other into a tight hug, one that demonstrated to one and all how these two were more brothers than just friends, showing the world the strong bond which they shared.
Gayatri and Teji's reunion was no less emotional, as the two had tears in their eyes as they hugged each other.
*********
Prem, Preet, and Harman watched from a distance as their parents cried and laughed and hugged their friends once more. Each of these three men had tears welling up in their eyes. "What a friendship" they thought to themselves.
********
"Prem, Preet, or Harman kaha hain?" questioned Teji, as she suddenly realized that she hadn't even seen the three men.
"Kyun Teji? Itni jaldi hain kya apki hone wale damad ko dekhne ki?" smirked Gayatri, a playful look in her eyes as she saw her sons walking towards them. "Arre chup" she responded, shaking her head.
"Han han. Now everyone will only think of the son-in-law and not the other sons of this family, right Ma?" questioned Preet as he came by and joined the group.
Only when Prem bent down to take Balraj's and Teji's blessings did Preet realize what he had forgotten to do. Once the three brothers touched their feet, Preet hurriedly introduced himself. "Mein hoon Preet, sabse chote, main sabse zyaada mazak bhi mein karta hoon" he said proudly.
"Aur ye hain hamari Harman Bhaiya. He seems really quiet, but don't be fooled. He can be just as bad as me" winked Preet, as he pointed out who Harman was.
Finally, when Balraj and Teji's eyes landed on Prem, Preet smirked to himself, pulling Prem forward and saying "Aur last, yeh hain apke hone wale damad."
Before anyone else could get a word in though, Lalit interrupted. "So when are you going to show us our daughter-in-law?" he questioned looking at Balraj and Teji with a quizzical look on his face. When the two exchanged worried glances though, everyone noticed something was wrong and the atmosphere changed immediately. The happiness and playfulness died and a solemn solitude took over.
"Kya hua? Koi pareshanin hain?" asked Lalit.
"Han. Hum apko ghar jaane ke baad batadenge" responded Balraj with a heavy heart, not knowing how he was supposed to tell his friend that his daughter was as stubborn as a mule, and refused to marry Prem.
