PART 3Meher was studying in her room when her maa entered the room.
maa: meher beta kya ker rahi hai?
meher (without looking up from her book): kuch nahi maa. bas finals ki tayyari.
maa (she sad beside meher on the bed. she was aware of meher's sadness. how much meher tried to hide it, mothers always know how their child is feeling. meher was not the same anymore.she was not her radio.): haan tere exams kareeb hai. ache se tayyari kerna. tera aakhri saal hai na.
meher: haan maa
maa: waqt kitni jaldi guzar jata hai (meher disagreed with her in her maa. time was not passing by for her. she still ached for harman. everyone told her everything would be ok with time but nothing was ok. but she could not tell this to her maa. she was already worried because of Heer didi)
maa: kuch waqt pehle hi heer aur tu kitni choti choti thi. phir pata hi nahi chala kab heer bari ho gayi aur uski shaadi ho gayi. aur ab teri parhai bhi poori ho rahi hai aur teri bhi shaadi ho jayegi…(meher was still looking at her book but her eyes widened to the thought of her getting married. she decided in her heart that she would not marry anyone. she loved harman and she would always stay loyal to him only) main jaanti hun meher beta ke yeh sab tere liye mushkil hai magar hum teri bhalayi ke liye hi tujhe rok rahay hai us ghar main shaadi kerne ke liye. tujhe pata hai na heer ke saath kya hua (she put her hand on meher's head and stroked her hair lightly) main nahi chahti meher tere saath bhi kuch aisa ho. kitne pyar se nazo main pala hai humne apni bhachiyon ko aur un ke saath aisa ho raha hai….(she started cying)
meher (she looked towards her maa and hugged her. she knew she was really worried because of Heer didi. she understood why her parents said no for her relation with Harman): maa sab theek ho jayega. app roo nahi please.
maa(broke the hug):beta main tujhse abhi yeh sab baatain na kerti magar aik bauhat acha rishta aya hai meri dost ke betay ka.aj nahi to kal tujhe bhi to apna ghar basana hai na. (meher disagreed with her in her mind) main aur tere bauji bas yehi chahte hai ke hamari dono betiyan khush rahay. saari zindagi koi akele nahi guzaar sakta isliye beta tu sochna is baray main. abhi unki family canada main hai aur tere exams khatam hotay hi woh log bhi india aa jayenge. tu apni parhai par dehaan de abhi aur phir is ke baray main bhi sochna. hum hamesha teri bhalayi hi chahaingay yaad rakhna.(saying this she left the room)
Meher was startled to hear what her maa just said. How could she marry someone else? Tears started to roll down her cheaks. She could not betray Harman like this. But she couldnt see more tears in her parents eyes. Harman's family made her parents cry a lot. She has a chance to give them some happiness and she can do anything for them. but was she willing to betray her love? but harman would also marry if she got married so should she get married?was she ready to forget harman and marry someone else? would it be fair to the guy? she had many questions in her mind. She decided not to think about all this for now. the family was not coming till her exams finished and till then no one would talk about this again in the house. maybe they will forget she thought and not talk about her marriage again. it was already really hard to live without harman and now this proposal.
she concentrated on her exams and started studying again. all her exams went very well.
After her last exam finished, meher came home and slept peacefully without any tension of studies. She just wished life could be simple and the pain in her heart would lessen. But thats not what happened.
After Meher woke up, she went to have dinner with her parents. Her Maa made everything she liked. The food and the happiness on her parents face indicated to Meher that something was up. During the middle of the dinner her dad started the conversation.
bauji: meher beta exams kaisay hue saray?
meher: bauhat ache hue bauji (her parents could see there were no emotions in her voice. they hated this meher. they wanted their bubbly daughter back)
bauji: main soch raha tha kyun na aj hum teenon koi movie dekhe?
meher: nahi bauji. mera mood nahi (these days meher did nothing that was fun. her life was restricted to her room and books)
bauji looked at maa and maa nodded
maa: meher ab to tu farigh hai na?
meher: ji maa. kyun?
maa: yaad hai na beta main tujhe apni dost ke betay ka bataya tha? (meher stopped moving her spoon on her plate. she thought everyone forgot about it but they didnt. she wanted to run away from there. she didnt know what to do)
maa: meher hum kabhi bhi tera bura nahi chahaingay. aj heer bhi aa rahi hai. usay is baray main pata hai. tu us say baat kerna. main jaanti hun tu heer se khul ker baat ker sakti hai. aur tera jo faisla ho hamain bata daina. (meher wanted to say i dont want to get married but the smile on her parents face stopped her)
After some time, heer came to the house with chahat. these days prem didnt like to go to anyones house due to the problems at his house. heer hugged her parents and went to mehers room leaving chahat with her grandparents.
Heer(smile on her face): hi meher. kaisi hai tu?
Meher (a faded smile on her face): didi. main theek hun app kaisi hain?
heer (hugged meher and sat on the bed with meher): main theek hun.
meher: jiju aur chahat kaise hain?
heer: sab theek hain. kitni patli ho gayi hai tu. exams main khaati nahi thi kya?
meher: didi last year tha to bauhat ziada parhna para to time hi nahi mila.
heer: acha. chal ab to tu farigh hai na.
meher: haan
heer: meher main tujhse kuch baat kerna chahti thi aur kuch poochna
meher(she knew what heer was talking about): ji didi poochain
heer: kya tu aj bhi harman se pyar kerti hai?
meher (a tear fell from her eyes. it has been a long time since she heard someone take his name): haan didi
heer: meher tu jaanti hai na maa aur veera kya ker rahay hai. unhe lagta hai hum un ke dushman hai. aur main tujhe apni zindagi barbaad kerne nahi de sakti. maa bauji bhi teri bhalayi ke liye keh rahay hai.
meher: main jaanti hun didi yeh sab meri bhalayi ke liye hai
heer: to phir tu shaadi ke liye raazi hai?
meher (she looked at heer with wide eyes filled with tears): kaise shaadi kerlun didi? (she started crying uncontrollably. for so many days she had been crying alone. but today her didi was here to console her. she wanted to take out all the sadness and tears she had.she hugged heer tightly and started crying more) kaise kisi aur se shaadi kerlun? kaise harman ke pyar ko bhool jaon? kaise kisi aur ki ho jaon aur harman ko dhoka de dun? kaise woh saray vaaday bhool jaon? kaise…..
heer stroked her hair to make her stop crying. she wanted her to stop because she can never see her sister like this but it was good that she was taking out all her sadness and pain. when meher stopped crying heer broke the hug and wiped her tears and held her hands.
heer: meher meri taraf dekh (she looked at heer) tujhe mujh par aur maa bauji par bharosa hai na (she nodded) meher shaadi sirf do logon ka rishta nahi hota. shaadi do parivaron ka rista hota hai. aur kya tu saari zindagi akele guzaregi? maa bauji ka to soch. woh teri khushi chahtay hai. chahtay hai ke tera bhi apna parivaar ho tere bachay ho. kya tu unhe in khushiyon se mehroom rakhna chahti hai? kya tu apne app ko in khushiyon se durr rakhegi? (meher thought what khushiyan. she had no khushiyan without harman) main jaanti hun meher tere yeh liye bauhat mushkil hai aur tu kisi ki dabav main aa ker shaadi ke liye haan mat kerna. tera dil manay tab hi haan kerna. tu us larkay aur uski family se mil le. phir faisla ker laina. milnay main to koi harj nahi na. (she smiled. meher returned her the smile)
Meher knew everyone was right and everyone wanted happiness for them. There was no harm in meeting the guy and his family. And if she got married then Harman would also get married. She smiled and told herself that she has to do this for her parents and her…she stopped…she was going to say her harman but realized harman is not hers anymore. She had to be very strong to go through this. She didn't think what would happen to her. What the future would be like. She was just determined to make her parents happy and harman married. That was the goal of her life now.
As the sisters finished talking, chahat and their parents came in the room.
Chahat: meher maasi!! kaisi hain app?
meher (tried to give the same smile to chahat that she gave her): main theek hun. app kaisi hain meri jaan?
chahat(sitting in meher's lap): main to bilkul theek hun. meher maasi app mujhse milne hamaray ghar kyun aati hain ab?
meher( how could go to that house now? Even her parents stopped going their. It was always heer didi who came here. She cannot go to that house where harman lived. it would give her a lot of pain to see him away from her): beta maasi ke exams the na isliye
chahat: oh. app ne achay diye na exams? agar app fail hui na to app ko mama se maar paregi (eveyone laughed at the adorable little girl)
heer: chalo chahat papa aa gaye hai.ghar jana hai.
Prem didnt come inside the house and picked them up from outside and left.
Meher kept thinking the whole night what she should do. She knew her parents would not force her to marry but they did want her to marry. After arguing a lot with herself, she concluded that she would get married if her parents like the proposal. Before closing her eyes to sleep, a tear fell from her eye when she thought that she would be spending her life with someone else other than harman. She didnt know what she did wrong in her life that God was punishing her like this.
