He trudged home in the darkness not knowing what awaited him there now. Did he still have a home or was that all taken away from him as well. He walked into the main hall to see Gayatri weeping in the corner while Ash was sitting with her and the rest of the family on the opposite side.

"Prem," A small whisper escaped Lalit's mouth as he saw Prem walk into the house.

"Bauji—main rehne nahi aaya hoon. Main aapna...samaan lene aaya hoon." Prem said softly the words hurting him inside.

"Nahin Prem. Tum iss ghar ke Ram ho, tumhe hum nahin jaane denge," Lalit said back.

Prem looked up immediately. What was going on? Bauji was the one who had taken that title away from him—now what changed?

Prem heard everything silently that Kulraaj di had overheard Gayatri and Ashlesha talking about how they had schemed to separate Prem and Heer but now he didn't even care anymore. Even if matters changed the only thing he cared about was her. But she was gone.

He made his way up to their room and just stood there watching the moon through the window knowing that at the exact moment she was sitting somewhere on that train by a window remembering him by looking at that moon.

Three months had passed since Heer had left but nothing changed. He still got up in the morning and went about his daily routine, always hoping that one day he'd open the door and see her standing there waiting to be taken into his arms. That day never came.

Another 6 months had passed and he was engulfed in the silence that he'd now find welcoming in their room, it gave him the feeling that she was somewhere thinking about him as well. He could only hope that one day this thinking became real and that she was near him.

Every night he'd go to bed pretending that his pillow was actually her comforting lap and she was soothing his tears with her soft hand running on his cheeks.
There never came a day where it dawned on him to go out and look for her and that was when he realized what the true fact in this whole 'charade' was. He never deserved her. He, Prem Juneja, never deserved the love and respect he got from his wife, Heer Maan. He never truly earned the love she had for him and despite all his tries he could never give her that same love that she deserved back and that's what caused his Heer to leave him.
