STAR Plus has suffered a decline in viewing figures in India, whereas ZEE TV has managed to come up trumps by moving inches away from the top spot.

According to latest TAM data for Week 22, STAR Plus has slipped to the number 3 slot. After nine years at number 1, then recently being relegated to number 2, the channel now has to settle for number 3 with 239 GRPs.

Old favourite ZEE TV has managed to gain in a big way by securing the number 2 position. ZEE TV has earned itself 245 GRPs, that's only 13 GRPs away from the current market leader - Colors.

Colors stands clear at the top with 258 GRPs, followed by ZEE TV with 245 GRPs and STAR Plus at number 3 with 239 GRPs. NDTV Imagine has had a jump in its ratings to 107 GRPs.

The next bracket of Hindi General Entertainment Channels (GECs) includes Sony Entertainment Television Asia at number 5 with 96 GRPs, STAR One at number 6 with 67 GRPs, SAB at number 7 with 56 GRPs.

Following these are Sahara One, STAR Utsav and 9X with 35 GRPs, 23 GRPs and 22 GRPs, respectively. Not much change in fortune was noticed in the fortunes of Real, the newest entrant in the Hindi GEC space, which had a GRP of 17.

Well, Star needs to do something, and fast! It needs to change it's attitude. It should realise that it only has 2 shows in the top 10, while Zee and Colours occupy the rest of the slots. So, by focusing on a couple of shows only, it cannot remain in the No. 1 position.

A channel can not remain on top with only 2 shows no matter how popular they may be... a channel that ignored its other shows and promotes only 2 will suffer just the way star is!!! And star plus axed all Ekta shows but the shows they have got in replacement are simply not good enough!!! Ekta's shows may loose it after 8 months or a year but they all start with a bang atleast but none of star's new shows has been able to have that impact!

Its not surprising dear, It had to happen. Ekta shows could have lost TRPs but had a strong Audience base. By axing all her shows at a time, Star+ lost large viewership. As Soaps rightly quoted No channel can run with just Two shows & repeated telecast of the same shows round the clock. Star has to learn its lessons from Colours & Zee. unfortunately none of the new soaps of Star+ has clicked with the audience.

the reason for this is they keep on promoting bidaai....even is spa title song they r given full attention.... soo no wonder there's a slip dwn....they shld nw atleast understand that they need to gain the spot as b4 n so they shld equally concentrate on all the shows...

u know what i strongly feel that Star+ bad luck started with their war with Ekta, The way they dealt with Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi became the begining of thier debacle. Agreed that KSBKT has lost its no.1 position but still it had a fan base but the channel adamently axed the show against ekta's wishes. In turn she pulled all her shows and now the channel is at the receiving end.

one more thing the production houses and channels both need to realise is that they can't afford to make their audiance angry ............. i use to watch couple of other shows of star ofcourse not as keenly as i worshipped kis desh ..... but i use to keep an eye on their development and story ... but ever since i saw how badly they treated the show i and many others like me madly loved i simply stopped watching all other shows ... the only time i watch star now is when kis desh is aired!!! So they need to understand that you simply can not win when your viewers are not happy! And your viewers of your top shows are not the only viewers ... and in anycase kis desh is a top show of star plus it has remained no. 3 for a long time ... still it gets no attention so these things definately result in loosing viewership ... i am one ... i know many others on this forum who did the same ... and definately their must be many more like us

sorry to say, but iam happy, because seriously i hated way they treated HC & AG recently and also thier attitude with Kis Desh. I couldnt digest the fact these people became so unprofessional that they were venting out their anger on the actors and the show because they had differences with Balaji & Ekta.

I am the happiest person that SP is slipping away..They deserve below 5 position.Keep going SP with your biased attitude.Your Bidai Is definete...Then you can sing well Yeh ristha with auduence kya kehlata hai....even at your official website you don't show up HC AND AG.You show every one from bidai and yeh ristha...

So all the best for your going down the drain.You took granted us audience now w & w we will take you for granted...

You still have one chance to improve yourself.give the due credit to HC and AG in SPA without being biased.Promote the show.bring the best track for the show , patch up with BT and work in coordial manner.I know you people decide the tracks for the show.

SO WAKE UP BEFORE YOU REACH BELOW 5.

BTW I am happy that NDTV Imagine is picking up.Congrats NDTV IMAGINE for your success.

Serve them right for losing the GRP to ZEE tV. They are only promoting Bidaai and Yeh Rishta, they should have promoted Kish Desh on full swing as that is the 3rd show running on Star Plus

Star plus opened yours eyes and started promoting Kish Desh with latest promo and more repeats. You will gain back your no1 position back.
