|| Doosri Mulaqat || A Surprise One Shot!

Hope you all enjoy this surprise one shot! 😃

She didn't know what to expect as she fiddled around with her seatbelt. Sitting in an airplane wasn't one of her favourite things to do. Especially all by herself.

It was for him, she convinced herself. She needed to go see him again. Would he recognize her anymore? He'd probably gotten a lot taller since the last time we met 8 years ago.

She was travelling from her new home in 8 years just to go be with her best friend from when she was little. He must've changed so much, she thought.

Then it hit her....it had been SIX years! What if he didn't even remember her? Ever since she turned 18 that year she had known—whatever she felt for him was love. Now the only matter at hand was confessing it to him—six years later.

She was finally coming back. The minute his older brother had informed him of her flight details, Preet couldn't contain his happiness. His BEST FRIEND was coming back. It had been 6 years, that was like 2190 days, only Preet knew how hard it was to deal with; without his best friend, his guide, his confidante. She was more than that he realized. That girl—made him what he was. A person who could be depended upon, a person who knew what the emotion love meant.

He could never forget their separation that horrible day 6 years ago...

Flashback

He wasn't going to go to the airport, why should he; when SHE was the one leaving him? Just because her parents got a job somewhere else meant that she had to leave him—how was he going to get through school by himself? She had promised to always be there for him.

He had glanced quickly at his watch while contemplating all these thoughts and noticed there was exactly an hour for her flight to leave. He hastily got into his car and switched it into gear, going as fast as the speed limit would allow towards the airport. He knew one thing for sure....she wouldn't board the plane without seeing him.

He parked his car in the closest spot and ran towards the door, searching for her airline, running past counters and counters when finally he stopped her gate and saw her petite figure standing there with her hair cascading down her back. He smiled to himself knowing she wouldn't leave without seeing him. "Waiting for me?" He called out.

He noticed her shoulders tense up before she slowly turned to face him, moving a strand of her hair away from her eyes, making sure it really was him.

"Preet?" She exclaimed, letting her bag fall off her shoulder as she rushed towards the fence separating them.

"I couldn't help it." He shrugged his shoulders as he walked towards the fence, unable to believe that she was actually going to leave him.

"I was afraid you wouldn't come..."

He slipped his hand through the fence and lightly touched his hand to her cheek, smiling at how the touch made her close her eyes and shudder. "I couldn't do it. I had to see you,"

She smiled and let a tear escape her eyes. "I don't want to do this,"

"Then don't." He shook his head.

"I can't Preet—" She looked down at his hand still on her cheek.

"I'll miss you,"

She smiled. "I know—that's why I'm going. To see how much you'll actually miss me!"

"That's a mean plan," He groaned.

"Announcing boarding for FLT JW 5985 to Singapore at gate 43,"

She looked up at the ceiling from where the voice was coming from. "That's me," She turned away from him, not wanting to look into his eyes and feel even more guilty.

"I'll miss you Bhav," He looked down, not wanting to let her see the pain in his eyes.

Bhav turned around and walked back to the fence. "I'll miss you too Preet—"

He looked up slowly; for some reason he always loved it when she said his name---there was something in her voice that made his name sound EVEN better to hear.

That was the last thing he could remember; that and her walking away from him. Something he chose not to remember.

He finally got to the airport exactly 10 minutes before her flight was even supposed to land. That'll make Prem bhaiyya proud, He smiled to himself as he quickly got a coffee to keep him busy from ticking off the minutes till she walked through those doors. Would she be happy to see him? They hadn't kept in touch, afraid that the pain would be too much.

Finally the time seemed to arrive and Preet quickly checked his reflection in his cell phone and smiled. "Lookin good,"

"As always," he heard a voice from behind him, and slowly turned around; fully aware of whom that voice belonged to. It was the voice that came into his dreams every night.

She was standing there, still looking as adorable as she always did. There was a certain sense of maturity on her face but he figured that came with getting older, people told him he didn't look quite as sneaky anymore—but he knew they were wrong. Oh forget all that, he told himself. This girl—his angel was standing in front of him and as usual he was thinking about himself...

She wasn't sure if she made the right move or not by coming up to him, but judging by the huge grin on his face—she decided it was the right decision. He seemed to be having one of his usual arguments with himself so she decided to distract him. "Umm hi?"

He seemed to stare down at her and then he snapped out of it. "Hey!"

Completely shocking her, he scooped her into his arms, twirling her around making her laugh with excitement.

"I've missed you soo soo much!" He smiles as he lets her down, smirking when he sees her cheeks turn the color of a ripe tomato.

"Same here Preet...honestly," Bhav exclaims as she gathers up her hand luggage that she dropped when he hugged her.

"Leave all that," He takes it all from her hand and they both walk slowly towards the parking.

"How'd you know I was coming today?" Bhav asks, keeping her eyes on the sidewalk.

"Prem bhaiyya told me," He said slowly. "Didn't you want me to know?"

"I did," she says softly. "I just didn't think you'd remember me," She admits as he puts her luggage in his car.

"What?" he closes the trunk and faces her. "You didn't think I'd remember you? The girl who I told EVERYTHING to? The girl who was my best friend, the girl who taught me how to lov—"

Bhav immediately looked up at him when he said that last word. "K---kya?"

He was caught and he knew it now. He sighs as he slowly puts a finger under her chin. "I've missed you...and you know that; but I didn't just miss you because you're my best friend. I missed you because you're the girl I fell in love with six years ago, and every single day that passed since then; that's 2190 days—I fell more in love with you and your memories,"

Bhav couldn't comprehend these words coming from Preet. This was everything she was supposed to say to him and here he was repeating it all for her. Without saying another word she simply wrapped her arms around his waist, waiting for his strong arms to come around her back and hold her in a way that told her he'd be there forever. Protecting her, being her friend, being the one she loved with all her heart.

I really really REALLY hope Bhav liked it! 😳 It was my first hand at a fully surprise shot, and Preet's easier to write like this and so I decided to have Bhav in it! 😃 Yes I've already given her a cameo in one of mine, but I didn't like it that much and so I hope this makes up for it! *hugs for Bhav*
