Recap:I looked at her with a glance. My brain was going haywire with these thoughts. But when I looked at her, my heart just seemed to reject all these thoughts. All my heart kept saying was that she trusts me and maybe understands what I am going through. And I would make sure that I don't mess up with this.

Part 9

Prem's POV:

We settled into my car and drove off to take Heer to her apartment. I tried my best to divert my attention from her but I couldn't. I just kept thinking of her. However, my thoughts were interrupted by her musical voice.

"I already talked to my lawyer'." She said softly and kindly. But I kept my eyes fixed on the road. Now what the heck was she talking about?

"What did you tell him'.?" I asked curiously. My eyes fixed on the road. But I could hear the uneasiness that my rudeness was causing her.

"I told him that I am marrying you to get my property in my hands'." She said slowly. I could feel her gaze on me. "And I also asked him about the'" she paused for a second and then continued'" about the divorce."

Hearing that, my gaze shot at her. It just felt really weird to hear about divorce. And I knew that it was going to happen. I looked at her and then my gaze went back to the road.

I finally reached her house and let her go inside. Before she left, she informed me that our appointment with the lawyer was at 1:00. After seeing her go in, I drove off. I looked at the clock in my car. It was exactly 7:30 am. Was I really ready for this? In about a few hours, my life was going to change. I could just feel it. But I had to do this'for him. He means more then anything to me. I can't just let him suffer. And that was my last thought as I walked into my house.

"Maa'.." I yelled to get her attention, but no answer. I checked the kitchen and her room but she wasn't there. After checking all the rooms, I decided to check the mandir. I knew that Maa was not in any condition to leave the house so she had to be home. As I walked into the mandir room, I could hear her soothing voice.

"Mere bacche ko duniya ki hark khushi deena maa'..Usne zindagi me bahot kuch jhela hai'.par aab nahi'.aab who apni zindagi shuru karne jaa raha hai'.Heer bahot acchi ladki hai'.Aap hameesha un dono ko saath rakhna and aur unhe kabhi bhi alag mat karma'.." she said softly.

Why was she asking for all this? She really thinks that we are going to stay together forever. I have to tell her that this is all rubbish. Heer and I are just having a contract marriage which will have to end as soon as I get all the money paid for Preet. But she is so happy. After such a long time, I have seen her so happy. And she was happy because of HEER. God this is never going to workout.

She slowly turned around and I put on my fake smile again. Her face was glowing with happiness and delight. And the look on her face brought a real smile on my face.

"Arre tu kab aaya'..?" she said walking towards me.

"Abhi abhi'.." I said slowly.

"Yeh lee'" she said while she handed me a mangalsutra and a sindoor ki dibbi. "Mai toh teri shaadi nahi dekh paongi lekin meri bahu ko yeh zaroor pehna denaa.." she said while caressing my cheek. I just smiled back to her happy face.

"Kab jaane hai'" she asked curiously.

"Do baje'." I answered.

"Theek hai'..mai sab tayaariyah karti hu" she said while rushing towards the kitchen.

Tayaariyan? For what? God this is pathetic. Although I am really happy to see Maa like this. But how will she react when I tell her the truth? My thought got interrupted when my cell phone rang. I quickly took it out of my pocket and pressed talk.

"Hello'." I said nervously because it was Preet's doctor's call.

"Mr.Prem'..It's me Rahul Sharma'..I have called you to notify that Preet's payment is due tomorrow'.If it is not given by tomorrow, the I am sorry to say but his condition will never improve'." He informed me.

My body just stiffened after listening to that. There was no way I was going to let go of him.

"Mr.Prem..?" he said again.

I came out my thought and answered him.

"I will give in the payment by tomorrow'.." I said sternly.

"Ok then'.we can start his surgery by tomorrow night and if the surgery is affective, then your brother will be home with you in about 2 weeks'." He said in a positive tone.

"Thank you doctor'" and saying this we both hung up. I looked at the clock. It was 8:30. The time was flying by and I had to do something about the money. I glanced at the God's murti one more time and then left.

Twenty minutes'..just twenty more minutes and my life was going to be changed forever''The only thing that was going through my mind was what Maa told me'.Before I left to go to court, she given me her ashirwaad and told me to put the sindoor and mangalsutra on her after we sign the papers.

I parked into the parking lot and headed in to find the court office of her lawyer. I hated wearing these business suits. But Maa made me wear it. She said that my maroon colored shirt and black suit matched with the saree she gave Heer to wear. I had no choice but I have to admit, that saree would look great on her.

I walked to the receptionist and asked the lady about the lawyer. Mr. Gupta was his name.

"You can go down the hall and his office is the 2^nd to last room" she answered to me with a smile.

"Thank you" I said politely and headed towards the biggest twist in my life. Me, Prem Juneja, marrying the girl I kidnapped, Heer. When I reached the door, I found it closed. I was about to knock on it but I stopped at the sight of the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. There she was, walking towards me. The saree was doing wonders on her feather-type delicate figure. The thin golden border on her saree was sparkling as the light was hitting the green and red stone around the golden border. Her soft, silky, long hair was blowing behind her as she walked. She wasn't wearing much jewelry beside a matching pair on tiny jhumkas that were dangling from her cute ears. Her gaze was fixed on her phone. Looked like she was trying to call someone.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling at the little frown on her glowing face. All this time I kept staring at her, not able to tear of my gaze from her. But I HAD TO. I instantly looked away when I saw her eyes fall on me. She came and stood next to me. I could sense her nervousness by the way she was clutching on to her phone. I took a deep breath and decided to push aside everything my heart was saying, EVERYTHING. I used all the courage I had to speak up.

"Hi'.." I said while looking at her with a straight face.

"Hi'" she said back. Her voice was so melodious. "When did you get here'?"

"Just now" trying to act as casual as ever. I saw her look at the closed door. "Are you ready'.?"

She shot her gaze back to me and gave a slight smile. "Yes" she answered. I knocked on the door and after hearing the consent from inside to enter; I slowly opened the door and told her to go first.

We both went and sat in front on the middle-aged man who greeted up both with a smile.

"Please sit'." He offered. We sat on the chairs across to him.

"Heer'I have the papers ready'.but I want you both to think one more time. Are you ready to do this?" he asked us both.

"Yes" we both answered avoiding each other's gaze.

"Ok then, according to the contract, you both will get married today. You both will have to live together for at least 3 months. I don't know the actual relationship between you two, but I know that this is not a love marriage. This is a contract marriage. Prem, from this day on, all of Heer's property will be under your name. But she also has equal rights over all the property. You both will live in one house with each other, you can't live separately. Otherwise, this contract will not work. After 3 months, if you decide not to live with each other''..then both of you need to come back to me and I will get your divorce done. So after my long lecture, are you ready?" he said with a smile.

I felt so numb. But I had to do it for Preet, to save his life. I nodded a yes to the lawyer and he handed me the paper to sign. I hesitantly grabbed the pen and scribbled me signature onto all the papers asking or my signature. After finishing my part, I handed the papers to her. She hesitantly took the pen out of my hand. And as she signed, I knew exactly what was through her mind. But I guess this was not the right place to talk about it.

She finished signing everything and handed all the papers back to the lawyer. The lawyer smiled and greeted up with a hand shake.

"Congratulations'.Now you are officially Mr. and Mrs. Prem Juneja!" he said as he smiled.

We both smiled back and thanked him. We got up and headed to leave the place. But as we were leaving, I heard him tell us something.

"I hope I don't have to see you back in my office after three months for any bad reasons, but good ones are always welcome" he said while winking at me. We both smiled back at him and said goodbye.

We walked into the hallway side by side and heard a few people give us compliment and congrats for being married.

As we reached outside, I saw her trying to call someone once again. Someone she was desperate to talk to but just couldn't. After trying for the last time and not getting answered, I decided to tell her the future plan.

"Did you come here in your own car?" I asked trying to figure out how I would say to her what Maa told me.

She placed her attention on me and gave a slight smile.

"No''I took a taxi'.." she said hesitantly. I knew that the fact that we were going to be living together was killing her. But hey, I didn't make up the rules of this contract. I decided to tell her everything that I HAD TO tell her.

"Heer'." I started. I just loved her name'.and maybe even her. Come on Prem get on track'..she is just a girl'.I kept telling myself.

Her eyes were glued to me and she had a little frown on her face which she was trying really hard to hide.

"Well'.according to the contract, we have to live together for at least 3 months'so that means you are going to have to move into my house'.." this was getting tougher. The look on her face told me that she was really uncomfortable.

"I will take you to your house right now so that you can get all your stuff'.." I continued. She gave me a nod and we both headed to my car.

After getting all her stuff, we were heading towards my house. She was quiet the whole time and saying nothing to me. And while I was driving, the fact just hit me. Maa had told me to go to the mandir after we were married.

"Heer"

"Prem"

We both said each other's name at the same time.

"You first'." I offered her.

"Um'.I was wondering'..can you just take me'..to the mandir for like 10 minutes'..Please" she asked in a soft tone the same thing I was going to tell her.

"Yes'..in fact, I was going to say the same thing" I said.

"Thanks" she said giving off a deep sign of relief.

We reached the mandir and now we were pray in front on the Ram-Sita idols. I opened my eyes after praying for the well-being of my brother and my mom. I gaze fell on a couple in the extreme front of the mandir who were getting married. The groom was about to apply the sindoor in the bride's maang. And I suddenly remembered the sindoor and mangalsutra Maa had given me to give Heer. I looked at Heer who was right next to me, staring at the couple that was getting married.

"Heer'.." I said once again and she instantly looked at me.

"Who'.Maa ne kaha that ke mai tumhe yeh deed du'.." I said while taking out the mangalsutra and the sindoor ki dabbi from my pocket. She looked at me with curious eyes. I held out the mangalsutra and the sindoor.

"Can you just wear it to make her happy'..she believes in all this a little too much and I couldn't say no to her..?" I told her trying to justify my answer.

She smiled and first took the mangalsutra. She was about to put it on herself when a voice stopped.

"Ruko beta'." said the pandit in the mandir. She instantly stopped and we both gave him a surprised look. He slowly approached towards us with a smile.

As he stood in front on us he continued.

"Yeh tumhara pati hai naa'?" he asked her.

"Ji'." She said softly.

"Toh phir yeh hi tumhe yeh mangalsutra pehnayega'.." he took the mangalsutra and handed it to me.

"Jab ek pati apni patni ko mangalsutra and sindoor pehenata hai toh unka rista ek attot bandhan me bhand jata hai'..issiliye tum hi isse yeh pehenado'" he said to me.

I hesitantly took the mangalsutra and approached it towards her neck. Her eyes were lowered and she had a straight expression on her cute face. I put the mangalsutra around her neck, through her long silky hair, and clipped it close. I could sense the awkwardness she was feeling on my touch. I took my hands of her and faced the pandit again with a fake smile.

"Ab uski maang bhi bhardo'..ek suhagan ki maang kabhi bhi suni nahi honi chahiye'.." he told me.

I took a pinch of sindoor and filled her maang. The whole time, she avoided eye contact with me. It was as if she was hiding something'.something that she didn't want me to notice.

The pandit blessed us and we both headed towards my house. Nervousness was increasing little by little. The fact that I was dreading the most was that I had to live with her, in the same house and in the same room. And what was really scaring me was that Maa really liked this girl and that she wasn't aware of the real reason behind this marriage or should I say "contract for 3 months."

Hey Palkhi...Loved this update a lot..so they got married ...I am so happy even I wish like the lawyer that they dont come back for divorce after 3 months..so after getting officially married now she got to do the married women's ritual too..I loved the mandir part a lot... will be waiting for the next update, post soon...
