Hello all! Yes, I am back with yet another Meet one-shot. I know, I know, I really should give Premeer more attention too (especially in KK, but the minute I wrote Ash and Harman in I knew Premeer wouldn't have a very large role and I couldn't bear to erase Harman and Ash because they were just so cute!), but hey, I like Meet so I'm gonna write about them. And if you don't like it then 😛 Okay I think I had one gummy too many, because it's giving me a sugar rush. WHOOOO! *bounces off the walls* So anyway, I was writing this earlier on and about halfway through it started raining. It's like...weird...But ANYWAY! This one's called Barso Re, and I hope you guys like it! MUAH!
Barso Re
Raindrops pattered against Preet's window, providing a steady beat to the rhythm of his fingers clacking on his laptop. He paused, sitting back on his chair. He cracked his fingers, letting out a yawn.
Most of the family was gone today: Kulraaj and Kiran had taken Vikaas to the dentist, and since Vikaas had demanded that Prem Mammu go with him, Prem had gone along; Maa and Bauji had gone to see a movie at Prem's suggestion, and Heer was out doing some shopping. That left Meher and Preet alone at home…to babysit Tannu. Preet had decided to let Meher do the babysitting, telling his wife that he had a lot of work to catch up on.
Which he did.
He looked at his screen now, but the numbers swam in front of his face, screaming at him to take a break.
So he did.
He stood up and walked to the window, sitting down at the windowsill. He peered out of the window, but all he saw was the heavy rain. It was nonetheless soothing. Preet rested his forehead against the window and closed his eyes, unwittingly falling asleep.
A crack of thunder woke him up a few minutes later. Sleepy and disorientated, he looked around. Remembering that he was in his room, he relaxed.
The rain had lessened, and Preet looked out. Puddles lined the streets, little pools that rippled as raindrops landed in them like little soldiers jumping out of an airplane. Multicoloured umbrellas walked the streets, their occupants seeking relief from the rain with them.
An un-umbrella-ed girl caught his attention. He frowned, pressing his face to the window to confirm his suspicions.
Yes, it was indeed his pyaari niece, running out of the house and into the rain. He raised an eyebrow, watching her with a smile on his face.

Meher stood in the shelter of the house, frantically trying to grab Tannu without getting herself wet. "Tannu, andar chalo, Mama tumhe daantegi!"
Tannu slipped out of her grasp and ran to a puddle, jumping in it. She turned back to the house and stuck her tongue out at Meher Maami. "I'm not coming inside until the rain stops!"
"You'll fall sick, Tannu!" Meher tried.
"Then I won't have to go to school!" Tannu cheekily replied, punctuating that with a splash as she jumped into another puddle. She laughed, clapping her hands happily.
Meher groaned. Yeh bachchi bhi na… "Beta, agar tum andar aa jaaogi, toh main tumhe chocolate doongi!" Chocolate was the only thing that usually worked with Tannu. The girl was a chocaholic-in-training!
Tannu stuck her tongue out at Meher again, running even further away.
"Arre, tum gir jaaogi!" Meher gave up. If Tannu wasn't coming to her, then she would go to Tannu. She ran into the rain, gasping as the cold raindrops pelted her.

Preet's eyebrows shot up as Meher emerged from the house, chasing after Tannu. He grinned. It was a rather comical sight, but if he told Meher that, she would do something to him that would probably bruise him for the next few days.
He watched as Tannu slipped and fell right into a puddle, then started laughing. Meher caught up to her and pulled her up. She probably asked Tannu if she was okay, and Tannu nodded.
Tannu then grabbed her Maami's hands and spun around with her.

"Tannu, tum kya kar rahi ho?" Meher squealed as her niece spun with her. Their hands were wet in the rain and were starting to slip, so Meher tried to tighten her grip on Tannu's hands.
"Maami, let's dance in the rain!" Tannu replied, a wide smile on her face.
Meher's eyes widened in shock. "No, no way! We're going back inside!"
Tannu let go of Meher's hands, sending Meher stumbling backwards. Meher stopped and stood still for a moment, waiting for the dizziness to pass. As it did, Meher reached for Tannu, but the girl danced away.
"You can't catch me!" she taunted Meher, making faces at her.
Meher grinned. Either all the spinning was getting to her, or the freedom of playing in the rain with her niece was. Whatever the reason, Meher abandoned all attempts at being the responsible adult and ran after Tannu. "Wait and see!"

Preet made his way downstairs, intending to partake in the rainy fun as well. If Meher was having fun in the rain, then so would he!
He stood at the kitchen door, watching Tannu and Meher dance in the rain, singing a song he couldn't place.
He hadn't seen Meher this relaxed in a long time, and it seemed to give her a radiant glow. She was entirely drenched in the rain; her hair was plastered to her face and her neck, while her salwaar kurta clung to her, highlighting all the right curves. Her smile was brighter than ever, and her brown eyes shone with excitement.
She had never looked more beautiful.
Preet stepped into the rain and caught Tannu, lifting her up and spinning her around as she shrieked. "You're having fun without me? That's not fair!"

Heer brought the rotis out, setting them down on the table. As everyone helped themselves, she sat down.
Tannu sneezed, her third one that night.
"Arre, beta, tumhe kya hua? You're sneezing so much!" Kulraaj turned to her daughter, feeling her forehead for a fever.
"Kuch nahin, Mama. Bas thand lag rahi hai," Tannu insisted, brushing her mother's hand away. She exchanged a grin with Meher, who also sneezed. And next to her, Preet blew his rather red nose.
Kulraaj looked at the couple, narrowing her eyes. "Did you let her play in the rain?"
"Nahin toh," Preet quickly answered before Meher could spill the truth. "The AC was on, na, toh hum sab ko thand lag rahi thi, issiliye we're sneezing. Right, Meher?" He winked at his wife, who bit back a smile.
"Haan, Di. We didn't go out in the rain. Pakka! You know how responsible we are!" she said, punctuating that with a sneeze. She turned to Lalit. "Bauji, how was the movie?"
Kulraaj looked from Meher to Preet to Tannu and back to Preet, who was deftly avoiding her gaze. Meher was responsible, yes, but she wasn't so sure about Preet. Tannu tugged her arm.
"Mama, mujhe roti chahiye." Another sneeze.
Well, whatever had happened in the afternoon, Kulraaj was sure she was never going to find out. She put a roti on Tannu's plate.

Ta-dah! This was partly inspired by a VERY cheesy rain scene on Friday's RKAB, though I must say that mine had less cheese and is therefore less fattening. 😃 Okay I seriously need to stop eating the gummies! SUGARSUGARSUGARWHEEEEE! 🤣
Ooh don't forget that Kuch Kum and The Handmaiden's Tale will both be updated tomorrow! (Give it about 20 hours or so...😆)
Till next time!
Love,
Bhav (:
