Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Sept 8, 2025 Episode Discussion Thread
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry!! I know it's been so many months, I am shocked myself 😲 I'm sorry it has taken so long, but finally, here is the last part to Beauty and the Geek. I've had a lovely time writing this FF, especially since it had my friends as characters within it- I will miss it, but I want to thank all my lovely readers, and my friends who were a part of this Fanfic and my inspiration 😳 I love you all, so a big thank you 🤗
'Yes, I will be on time Meera,' he said.
Meera giggled on the other end and rushed into words about her excitement, talking about how Gaurav had booked a limo for the four of them and how the ball was going to be the most memorable experience of their lives. 'Don't be late...you don't want to keep Ravz waiting,' she teased, before hanging up.
A week had passed since the exam results and tonight was the ball. Meera had arranged for Prem and Gaurav to pick her and Ravjot up from her place. It was almost like a double date. It seemed the more Meera talked about the ball, the less Prem wanted to go to it. He turned his head to stare at the black suit that lay neatly on a chair at the side of the room and walked over to run a hand through it.
Maybe it was time to try new things, he thought to himself, taking off his glasses and thoughtfully gazing at this alien image of his through the mirror. And for the first time in his life, he did not have the heart to put them back on.
~
Heer lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Things had gone just the way she wanted. Her parents were so proud with her results. Nihaal had treated the family to a celebratory meal and her mother had booked the tickets to France. They had even gone shopping for the trip, and everyone knew how much Heer loved shopping. But then, why wasn't she happy? Exams were over, college was about to break up for summer, yet Heer seemed even stressed than before. Her dampened spirits did not go unnoticed by her parents, who were finding her behaviour incredibly difficult to comprehend.
Even spending time with Asma and Shifali had not managed to lighten her spirits. For days they had been bugging her about the ball. If they had not practically begged her to go, she would not be going. She had only agreed for the sake of her friends. She had no interest in going to the ball, especially one at which she would see Prem with someone else- dancing with someone else, laughing with someone else, most of all, liking someone else. At college, many guys had asked her to be their date for the ball, but she had refused all of them, for none of them were Prem, nor could they ever be like Prem.
Her dress lay at the end of her bed. It was beautiful indeed, worthy of her admiration. The delicate, lustrous silk called out to be touched and she reached forwards to let her fingers stroke the fabric. It was time to get ready, Heer thought to herself.

'Oh-my-goodness!' said Meera, her hand flying up to her mouth as she eyed Prem. Ravjot, who stood beside Meera, watched Prem with her eyes open. Where was Prem, and who was this guy standing before them?
'What happened to your glasses Prem?' asked Ravjot nervously.
'I decided not to wear them,' Prem shrugged.
Meera waved a hand in front of Prem's face. 'Can you even see without them?' she asked and Prem rolled his eyes. He pushed her hand away.
'Well not incredibly well, but yeah, I will manage,' he stressed. Meera grabbed his hand and pulled him closer to Ravjot. Prem looked down at Ravjot, who returned his smile with a smile of her own.
'You look lovely Ravz,' said Prem as he took in her appearance. She looked amazing, her simple green anarkali doing wonders.
'So do you Prem'different, but nice,' said Ravjot, wondering what had made him take this step.
'Where's Gaurav?' Prem asked and Meera told him he was on his way with the limo.
'You look stunning,' Gaurav whispered to her. Ravjot coughed in the background and both she and Prem decided to wait for them in the limo. 'It's a pity we're not going somewhere private,' he teased, earning himself an elbow in the ribs.
'This is for you,' Gaurav said, holding out a small box for her. Meera frowned and hesitantly took the box.
'You didn't have to get me anything,' she said, scanning the box. Gaurav took it off her and got her to turn around, opening the box himself and slipping the pendant which was within the box around her neck. Her fingers touched the cold, hard stone, admiring its beauty.
'I love it Gaurav,' she said, turning around to face him again. 'Thank you.'
He smiled and leaned over to place a sweet kiss on her lips. 'That is the best way to say thank you,' he murmured and Meera turned a pretty shade of red. She pointed to the door, and they both made their way to rejoin Prem and Ravjot and leave for the ball.

All four entered the hall in which the ball was being held. The room was beautifully decorated, the lights giving a luminous feel to the room, with flowers and candles adorning every table. Meera and Gaurav flitted off to the dance floor, unable to stay apart from each other. The hall was bustling with noise, music reverberating around each corner of the room and loud students singing away to beats. The dance floor was surrounded by energetic students, moving their bodies effortlessly. Prem watched with wide eyes, thinking of different excuses he could use to stay away from the dance floor- headache, thirsty, needing the toilet. Ravjot seemed just as reluctant to go to the dance floor, and they chose to stand near the refreshment table instead.
It was then that his eyes caught the shape of a beautiful figure sitting alone on the other side of the room. Their eyes met across the room and he felt his heart beat faster. Heer quickly averted his gaze, staring back into the bottom of her glass. Prem sighed at the sadness in her eyes, turning back to meet Ravjot's confused gaze. Ravjot looked from Prem to Heer and frowned. She did not even know that they knew each other.
'Is everything okay Prem? You seem a little tensed,' said Ravjot. He nodded and assured her that he was fine. Finally a slow tempo song reached his ears and he gestured to the dance floor. Ravjot obliged, following him silently. Prem's eyes continued to drift off in the direction of Heer, he could not help it. Ravjot again caught this fleeting glance and turned to look at Prem. She tapped his shoulder for his attention and his gaze abruptly met hers.
'Prem...you don't seem yourself tonight,' she started. Prem tried to shrug it off, but she continued. 'You know these things on my face...they're called eyes,' she joked.
'Ravz...I...,' he interrupted.
'Let me finish Prem...I have eyes...I can see that you're unhappy, and I can also see what will make you happy. So, just go...go to her,' she said, smiling. Prem frowned in confusion.
'Go to her Prem...go to Heer, It is obvious that you're both miserable away from each other,' she said, pushing him gently away. Prem grinned and bent down to kiss her cheek.
'Thanks Ravz...you're the best,' he said, embracing her before stepping away.
Ravjot watched Prem walk away and sighed, feeling slightly pitiable now that she stood alone. Making her way to the refreshment table, she nibbled on a mini sandwich. Suddenly she felt someone brush her shoulder and found that she was no longer alone.
'I couldn't help but notice a pretty lady, standing all alone, so thought I would come over and ask her for a dance,' he said, holding out his hand for her to take, flashing his teeth at her.
Ravjot raised an eyebrow and stared at him. 'Is that supposed to be a pick-up line?' she asked and he laughed, obviously at having been caught.
'Did it have the desired effect?' he asked her back and Ravjot pursed her lips together, hoping not to show that it had. Unfortunately if it had not been for the slight blush that crept up her cheeks, she would have succeeded in her attempt. He looked striking, his black suit extremely flattering in accentuating his features.
'It is Yug, right?' she asked and he replied with a nod and an alluring smile that melted her bones. She frowned as a sudden thought hit her. 'Where's Asma?' she asked, her eyes scanning the ballroom.
He shrugged and the crease between her eyebrows deepened. 'I thought Asma was your date for tonight?' Ravjot asked, and suddenly retreated, knowing she had no right to ask him so. Yug raised his eyebrows in confusion. He shook his head and pointed in the crowd to where Asma was dancing with a guy whom Ravjot had never seen up until now. 'Who is that?' she asked Yug.
He smiled and answered, 'That's Farhan, a new guy who transferred here a couple of weeks ago. Apparently he and Asma hit it off straight away.'
'Oh,' was all that could escape Ravjot's lips and she looked down at her feet.
'So, how about that dance?' he asked, his hand once again extended forwards for her to take. She thought about it for a moment, staring at the determined carriage of his hand, and finally placed her hand within his, letting his fingers clasp around hers. As he led her to the dance floor, she could not help the turning of her heart as his arm encircled her waist, pulling her closer to his tall frame.
'The moment you entered the room I could not take my eyes off you,' he admitted as they swayed to the soft melody that echoed through the walls of the ballroom. Ravjot's gaze flew up to meet his and she smiled at him, as it was the only thing her dazed mind could permit at that moment.
~
Heer sat in an inconspicuous corner of the ballroom, twiddling the straw in her drink. The sight of couples dancing to their heart's content made her state seem even more pathetic. Shifali and Preet sat on a table nearby, their chairs shuffled close together as they were immersed in eating and conversing. Asma was busy with her new found love Farhan, so neither she nor Shifali had eyes for Heer. Being at home seemed so much more appealing to her now.
A shadow fell over and she frowned, looking up to see who was blocking her light. Her eyes suddenly glazed over, struggling to focus on the owner of the hand which reached out for her possession. This must be a dream, she thought to herself, as Prem stood above her, his compelling gaze holding hers.
'May I claim this dance?' his timid voice sounded her ears. He was still as nervous as ever, she thought to herself, suppressing the urge to giggle. She let a faint smile spread across her face and nodded. She heaved herself up and laced her fingers with his, warmth spreading through her.
'Where is Ravjot?' she asked, afraid that this was the first and last dance she was to have with him before he was to return to his date.
He pointed to Ravjot, who was dancing with Yug in the middle of the dance floor, her head swung back as she heartily laughed at one of his jokes. Surprised Heer looked to Prem for answers.
'I think we both realised who we were meant to be here with,' Prem said to her, gazing down at their locked hands. Without delay, she was guided to the dance floor by the firm pressure of his hand on the back, flushing her mind into utter blankness.
They danced in silence for a few minutes before Prem finally broke the silence. 'You look very nice tonight...ummm, not that you don't usually look nice, I mean, you always look beautiful...,' he said awkwardly, cursing his nervousness.
Heer let out a giggle. 'Thank you Prem,' she said, giving his hand a comforting squeeze. She let her eyes sweep over his face in appraisal.
'And you look...strange,' she said in response and suddenly regretted the words at the hurt look that sprang across his face. 'I didn't mean it like that...it's just that something is missing.' She reached forwards to take out the glasses that were stole in the front pocket of his suit jacket. Without hesitation she placed them back on his face, where the belonged, for this was the Prem she fell in love with.
'Now, you look perfect...,' she said, '...absolutely perfect.' Prem grinned, and let out a sigh of relief, for now he could be himself. He whirled her into a series of spins before she crashed against his body once more, breathing heavily as his dark gaze stared back at her.
'I think I love you Heer,' he said, surprised at how easily the words poured out. He did love her, he realised that now. She was the reason for his sleepless nights, the one on whose face he always wanted to see a smile.
A tear hovered over Heer's lashes and she wrapped her arms around his neck. His initial surprise at her action faded away as he too held her close. Reluctantly he let her pull away, unaware of the curious and stunned glances of students around the room.
'I love you too Prem,' Heer confessed. Prem's hands cupped her face and leaned closer, causing her face to become red instantly. His mouth descended towards hers and captured her lips, shuddering himself at the contact. Her hands trailed up his shoulders to coil around his neck and both closed their eyes to savour the beauty of the moment. Lost in each other, everything around them ceased to exist. Yes he was a geek, but he was her geek. He was her cute, sexy, charismatic, clever geek, who always managed to sweep her off her feet.
