My take on the whole thing - i may contradict myself at times - so pls forgive me for that. I think Harshad's exit was planned in Aug itself boz he was to start Mahabharat - remember the SBS when they had covered Heer-Prem's engagement. Harshad was asked when they'll get married and he said that he doesn't think that Prem-Heer will ever be together. When asked why he thought so he said he just felt that. Remember the episode with the maang tikka breaking and then Rishab burning the pic. I think they planned to involve Rishab in Prem's death. Also after some days SBS in their Pardey ke Peeche section had said that Harshad will be out of KDMHMD for sometime as he had to give all the dates to Mahabharat and they were going to bring a new character from "saat samundar paar' and they were searching for that person. After all this Star did the special promotion of the serial in Delhi. I still haven't figured out why Star did the whole promotion thing when the plan was to kill Prem and it wasn't that Aditi was alone it was the jodi and the serial that was promoted- why was that done? I think Star didn't want to let go of Harshad and asked Ekta to retain him that would not have been possible if he was part of Mahabharat. Since Arjun is a very important character he would not have come back ever. Also Star didn't want to take chance with the new show replacing kahaani. I think both Star and Ekta must have come to the conclusion that Harshad will be lead in the new show and this will ensure his fans will watch and the TRPs will be high atleast for the initial months. I think that is why he was replaced from Mahabharat. Imagine his pic in Arjun's getup was published in all dailie, otherwise ekta would have never done it. I think Star and Ekta think that KDMHMD is strong enough to survive without Harshad - this is where they got it all wrong. I think the Sanjana track was planned to continue for some time (Star made two special promos for it). Remember Kahaani was supposed to end on Oct 16 and the new show was to start on Nov 3. But Kahaani got over a week ahead and now the show will also start a week ahead. So they had to rush Prem's death because he has to start shooting for the new show (i am sure he is the lead of the show. Tellybuzz won't say he is most likely to play if he wasn't the lead - but then their source had also said that Ekta knew how popular Prem-Heer were and cancelled the plan to kill Prem). Moreover Ekta said that he is doing my new show (Harshad isn't stupid to go against her). The only thing I don't understand is Ekta has said that she wants two fresh faces as the lead so that they bring the same kind of feeling that the movie Bobby had with Dimple and Rishi kapoor. If that was what she wanted how does Harshad fit the new/fresh face thing. He is still very popular as Prem (KDMHMD's coming episodes will be showing many scenes as flashbacks). People are going to identify him as Prem. Also whenever they show Harshad doing the lovey-dovey scenes with the new girl viewers w'll compare it with his and Aditi's scenes bcoz that jodi has left such a mark on the minds of people. Moreover, the new girl has been styled exactly like Heer! Ofcourse because of Harshad the TRPs for the new show will be high but what after 6-7 months? Will she kill his new character also? And the most important thing what happens to the immortal love of Prem and Heer? What about Kis Desh Mein? Few things that are confusing me are:
Why did they show the whole Prem taking Heer as his wife thing (bcoz the news of his death was out by then)? In that scene Prem promises to be with heer for 7 lives - why those lines? They didn't need to show that at all.
Why doesn't Prem even attempt to get out of the place? why does he just sit there?
Why are they dragging the Prem's death thing so much (shouldn't they try to wrap it up soon so that people will not think of Harshad as Prem when they show him in the new show)
Why did they put the ad in the paper? why publicise the death so much?
I am sure Star is aware of the poularity of Prem and the fans are protesting his exit. Can they afford to jepordise their popular show to launch a new one - esp now when Colors is going all out to snatch their numero uno status? Why do you think Kasturi has been moved to a new slot and why do you think Kyunki is going to take a leap and why do you think Bidaai has become a 1 hour show?
I think the creatives of KDMHMD have assured Star that they have a good storyline without Prem and it will continue to bring good TRPs. The problem will start when won't be able to deliver. Since the creatives never gave any importance to other characters than Prem and the jodi they'll have to work doubly hard to make viewers love the other characters (they are somewhat succeding bcoz people love Preet now). Also as soon as they move to other characters like maya-harman-meher-kuljeet-kiran-rishab etc people's interest in teh show will go down. Moreover, if this show goes the Kumkum way (where the devar marries bhabi) it won't be accepted. But you can't say with viewers. Things we think won't work ends up being a big hit and sure shot hits won't work. One thing is for sure we need to continue our fight to get Harshad back. Irrespective of he is the lead of the new show we want him back in KDMHMD. So fight. Hope i haven't bored you with my take on our fav show. Let me know what you guys think.
