| Sony Entertainment Television has roped in Ekta Kapoor to make five serials for them, in the hope that Balaji serials will help revive their slipping position. Ekta readily agreed. But allegedly, her clause was that Sandiip Sickand, the ex Balaji creative director, who joined Sony, be thrown out of the channel. Sony agreed and Sandiip reportedly had no choice but to put in his papers. Call it coincidence if you wish to, but the fact remains that while he was with Sony, Ekta did not give a single show to the channel. and now Sandiip's departure marks Ekta's return on Sony with Khwaish, but on her terms. 'Ekta's taking her revenge,' is what everyone says in the tv industry. It is said that Ekta had a closed door meeting with Sony's head Kunal Dasgupta about doing five serials for the channel but she wanted Sandiip out of those shows, which apparently led to Sandiip's exit. To get Sony back on the feet, Dasgupta agreed. However, Sony's business head Albert Almeida denies this and says, "Sandiip had one-year contract with the channel. But after completing 11 months he decided to move on to explore other creative options." sources reveal that Sandiip wanted to clear the air with Ekta and thought bagging Khwaish was a great start. But once he heard about Dasgupta wanting him out, he is trying reportedly to coax Ekta into giving him his job back. Ask Ekta about the same and she is non-committal, and all she says is, "yes, I am a difficult and rude boss. I believe TV is my domain and it is my responsibility to give the best content and TRP to the channel and the viewers. I have my own style of working and I do lose my temper especially when I feel that people are not working as hard as I am. as for Sandiip, we are fine." |
