There is no marriage without compromise.

In Canada/Abroad things are a bit different. The compromise happens but its at a different level.

Here the guy and girl usually buy their own place/live away from parents after marriage. Rarely you will see a guy living with his family after marriage.

The compromise is more shared, where the guy and girl have to balance both sides of the family...i.e. spending holidays/time with respective parents, career and kids.

Still, it is women who have to compromise a bit more, but its not for their husband's family..its for their own family. i.e putting work on hold to have kids, then to continue working while taking care of kids/some choose to stay at home for a few years.

The only way to live and function in the world is to compromise. One does it at school to make friends and function, at work to get along with boss and coworkers and in family and married life.

...i guess marriage starts with compromise itself...two different people compromise few things for each other and come together...so ...it continues...till they r together...
so COMPROMISE OF PARTNERS IN marriage...is definitely there ...but if it is from both side then it is Best for marriage and the partners...

There is a very thin line between compromise and adjustment. I believe that it is adjustments that we make after marriage to make it successful. By making compromises a person cannot be happy but if he or she makes adjustments then it is a different ball game. Going back to work or not after kids is not compromise but adjustment made by the woman to bring up kids and balance family - work life.
I am saying this from my experience because I know I cannot be happy if I make compromises and hence me and my hubby made adjustments according to our needs.
