Did you face any hurdles ?

yes, i did face massive hurdles. My story is very similar to DV's story. So here it goes.

i am the youngest in the family of 4 brothers. No sisters. My dad was a distinguished army officer and my mother an eminent educationalist. My mom used to run a school. That is where i met my love. She was a teacher there. Obviously,. parents never agreed. My parents did all they could to stop my marriage including putting a lot of social pressure on my would be wife. ( very much like what YG is doing to SP). I was in engineering when my wife was working. I dated her for 4 years. As soon as i got my job, one of my first tasks was to get married. it was quite funny though. At the marriage, in a church, apart from me there were only 3 of my close friends from my side. There were a lot of relatives from my wife's side. I could hear a lot of snide remarks targeting my wife during the marriage. I was like DV. single minded and very determined. Please note, that JLZ is showing in 2013 / 2014. What i did was in the early 80's when even the though of marrying a girl older was completely taboo... All my relatives were against me.. not one stood by me...

Like DV, my wife's sisters were my support system during those hard and dark days of complete isolation.

Before my marriage i did meet my parents and told them of my intent. They did not tell me anything. When i returned to my place of work, i saw a registered letter from my father that stated - please do not come back home ever... we have disowned you! I was just 22 and all alone.. All i had was my job, my independence and my determination.

After marriage, it took 8 long years for my parents to call me back... first they said come only with your eldest child, 2 years later they said, come with both your children and after a year they said come with your wife. A good 11 years after marriage is when my parents accepted me, my wife and my children. Still it is was not complete acceptance as i was kind of excluded from many financial inheritances due to me. My brothers and sisters i law benefited, much like Anway and Suparna... i never really cared. I had my own family and that was wonderfully enough.

It is indeed ironic justice that both my parents spent the last 5 years of their life with me and my wife. It was my wife who took care of them till they died... one as recent as last year. I am also happy to say that both my parents did acknowledge that my wife was their best daugthter in law,..

Incredible, nah?

Obviously writing this story has brought many tears to my eyes... it is not easy going down memory lane...

Now all of you know why i love JLZ... it is so close to my heart. Really Close...

Sir, are you retired?

No not yet. I am 53, very young at heart and the head of a company. Very much in India. I set the example at work and none at my office can compete with my youthfulness. I thank GOD for it.

i have two children aged 28 and 24. My daughter is the eldest and is fiercely independent. As i write, she is doing something that i did in the 80's some thing different. She is dating an american marine that she met sometime ago... funny nah? I am worried about her because i know how marines are deployed and what can happen to their life. Now the roles have reversed. I am trying to talk my daughter out of it but she is determined!! Irony!

my friend is too married to a younger man. i think around 3 years younger.
the only issue i think is guys mature late.. i mean sense of responsibility n all that... but it also depends upon person to person.
on one hand it could be a good thing. as in a sociey whr guys have the upper hand re egos n respect about pati parmeshwar n all that. if the girl is older she will get equal respect n say in matters.
