SF, you make like to have a look at one of my earlier threads on the subject of bigamy when Milsi got engaged to Ayesha. That should clarify what is admissible by law and what is followed in BT World. These guys take shelter in the disclaimer that they put at the start of their episodes which basically can be summed up as
"For the brainless, of the brainless and by the brainless".
