Part 20

Ayesha was determined to make something of her life. Her grandma had being her only family after she lost her parents in childhood. She had raised Ayesha to be independent and a confident lady. When Ayesha had gotten the scholarship to study abroad, her Grandma was the happiest person in the world. She knew Ayesha had to leave her one day and sore the skies.

She loved working for MM enterprises. The job was something she wanted and the pay was good. She missed living with her grandma but the commute from Delhi to Rajpura was a long one. She had decided to rent an apartment and had tried to convince her grandma to come and stay with her. But the old lady was too attached to her house which had all the memories of her late husband and her kids.

Neev had arrived in Delhi earlier that week. He had already talked about his mom's plans to Prachi. She was surprised at first but assured him that her dad would not take any step unless she gave her consent so they had nothing to worry about. He believed her, unlike his own mom, Inder never took his daughters happiness lightly. He knew her mom would be mad but he also knew where his and Prachi's heart lay and that was definitely not with one another. He was going to be seeing his dad's business in Delhi. Neev was never too keen in staying away from home after his studies but he knew Ayesha was in Delhi and he couldn't think of any other way better than this to meet her.

"Milind, I have to to meet her today, its been three days since I m here and I haven't even seen her" Neev said over the phone.

"Theek hai, aaj aaja, ek saath lunch karte hain" (Ok come over, we will have lunch together) replied Milind as he signed some papers lying on his desk.

Exactly after 2 hours, Neev was sitting opposite Milind's desk at his office.
"Kaam hi karta rahega kya?? Mujhe bahut bhook lagi hai..chal lunch karne chalte hain" (Are u going to keep working? I m hungry. Lets go out for lunch)Said Neev.

"Haan chal. Bas ek minute"(yes, lets go..just one minute) Milind said without looking at him. Neev kept tapping his fingers on the desk playfully. He was excited and scared at the same time. He was gonna see her after a long time and had taken extra care to dress up. He still remembered how Ayesha was in college, a carefree bird who enjoyed life's little moments. He remembered her hour glass figure and flowing long hair. He looked up as Milind closed his file and placed in on the table with a thud. "Lets go" he said as he got up from his chair.

"Mujhe tere saath lunch karne ka koi shauk nahi hai. Pehle Ayesha ko to bulale" (I don't want to have lunch with u alone, call Ayehsa first)Said Neev.

Milind let a small laugh escape his lips "I already did...she must be on her way" "Lo aa gayi"(Here she is) He said as he saw Ayesha walk in. "Ab chale??"(Shall we go now?)

"Main to kab se tyaar hoon. Tu hi nahi chal raha"(I m ready u are the one who is not moving) Neev replied quickly leaving Milind with a open mouth shaking his head.

As Ayesha walked in and greeted them, Neev felt as if he was in heaven. She hadn't changed a bit. She looked exactly the same he remembered her. She looked lovely today with her pencil skirt and green top. She had tied her hair in a bun with a few strands loose which kept touching her cheeks everytime she moved her head. Neev did everything in his power not to take her in his arms right there and then.

The three of them reached a restaurant close to the office. The restaurant was filled with people at this hour of the day. As the three seated together, Neev excused himself for a while. The waiter got them water and the menus. Milind was going over the menu deciding what to order when his phone rang. "Hello, Milind Mishra here"

"Kuch mat bol..bas meri baat sun"(Don't say anything, just listen to me) Came the reply. Milind looked puzzled and when Ayesha asked him raising her eyebrows, he gave her a reassuring look and concentrated on the call.
"Hmm" he replied. "Ab tu kuch bahana bana kar yahan se khisak ja"(Make an excuse and leave) Said Neev on the other end. From where he was standing, he had a good view of their table and could see Milind's confused face.

Milind excusing himself got up from the table "What?? Are u mad? I came for lunch with u guys"

"Aree mere baap, ek din nahi khayega to mar nahi jayega..main tera khana pack karwa ke bhijwa doonga office. Kuch to samjha kar yaar, I want to spend some alone time with her."(If u don't eat one day u won't die, I will send over some packed food to ur office.) Said Neev with a bit of irritation in his voice.

"Achcha baba, theek hai. I will make up an excuse and leave" Milind laughed at his friend's tantics and returned to the table. "Ayesha, I have to return back to office, there seems to be a problem. You guys enjoy ur lunch"

Neev too returned few moments later and making a confused face looked at Milind "Aree Milind tu kahan ja raha hai?? Khana nahi khana hai kya??"(Milind where r u going? Don't u want to have lunch)

Milind gave him a killing look "I have a more pressing matter, tu kha na khana"(U eat)

"Don't worry, I will order something and get it delivered to ur office, tu ja, agar tujhe jana hai to. Ab kaam bhi to important hai. Right Ayesha??" Said Neev looking at her for approval.

"Milind hum bhi chalte hain(lets all go back), hum khana deliver karwa lenge" said Ayesha. She felt bad for Milind.

"Nahin" Neev jumped the gun before Milind got a chance to say anything. "Hum rukte hai, Milind tum jaao. Ayesha, I m really very hungry. Lets just eat here" He looked at Milind with pleading eyes "Tu ja yaar, tujhe der ho rahi hogi" (U go, u must be getting late) Giving Milind a slight push, he silently prayed that Ayesha may not suspect him of anything.

They ordered food for themselves and some for Milind which Neev made sure was delivered to Milind's office. Now that Milind was gone and they were alone, Neev didn't know what u say to Ayesha. All through the lunch, he tried to make small talk. There seemed to be a weird tension at the table. Ayesha wondered why Neev was behaving this way. It was not as if they were alone for the first time. He was literally picking at his food and it seemed as if his mind was somewhere else. She asked him if he too had to rush back to work but he replied in negative. All Neev was thinking about was how to get his breathing back in control. Ayesha looking stunning was sitting just inches away from him and everytime he looked at her, his heart would beat faster. He was so anxious that he couldn't eat anything. All his appetite was out of the window. He wanted to say something but the words refused to come out. He wondered if Ayesha too felt the same but she seemed so much at ease. He was looking at her, the way she picked up her morsel of food and the way she slowly chewed, her lips pressed, mouth moving in a circular motion, he was brought of his thoughts by Ayesha's voice. "Kya hua?? Something on my face or u just want what I m having???"

Laughing Neev shook his head "Nahin kuch nahi..So how is the job going?? U like it so far?" He was glad that Ayesha had turned the atmosphere into a light one with that little joke. They sat there chatting like normal friends, eating their lunch.

Milind picked up his phone to call Prachi again. He hadn't talked to her since morning and he wondered if she was just too busy with her studies. He dialed her number but she didn't pick up again. With a sigh he returned his concentration on the pending work.

It was much later that his phone rang and thinking its Prachi, a broad smile came on his face. "Hello" he said waiting impatiently to hear her voice but it was Sukriti. She had called him to inform about her visit to India. It seemed she had been missing baba a lot and decided to come home for the holidays. She told him she would be coming this summer. "Sab theek hai hai Bhaiya?" She inquired. She could feel something amiss in his voice today. "Haan, just work. Tu bata padaai theek chal rahi hai na?" (how is ur study going?) Sukriti wasn't conviced with the reply but decided not to pressure him much. Informing him about her studies and her plans she kept the phone.

Later in the evening, he decided to call Prachi one more time before he headed home. This time she picked it up. "Kya Prachi, subah se phone kar raha hoon, kahan thi tum?" he asked with a concern in his voice.

"Woh, I had gone to my friend's house and left my cell at home. Sorry, I just got back. Kyun kuch khaas baat??" She teased. She knew he had called just to talk to her like he did every single day. She had regretted leaving her cell at home but tried not to show it.

"Nahi, kuch nahi. Woh to maine bas aise hi phone kiya tha..kuch batana tha tumhe" (No, I just called to tell us something)

"Hmmmm...bolo"

"Aaj sukriti ka phone aaya tha, she might be coming here for her summer vacation. Tab tak to tum bhi free ho jaaogi. Tum usse mil sakti ho" Milind remembered Prachi telling him about her desire to meet his sister.

"Aree, yeh to bahut achchi baat hai. Main usko milne zaroor aaungi"

"Sirf Sukriti ko milne aaogi?? Mujhe nahi??" Milind asked waiting to hear her say something in response.

He could hear Prachi's laughter on the other end.."Achcha ab phone rakho, Tum ko to koi kaam dhanda hain nahi lekin mujhe padaai karni hai...finals sir par hain. Bye"

"Love you" he said but as always he got a "Me too" Relunctantly Milind disconnected the line. He looked at the phone and wondered how is he going to live these next 2 months without the love of his life in front of him. He missed her more than he had ever imagined. She was constantly in his thoughts. He was glad his Dad had given the new project's whole responsibility to him. This was the only way he could get her out of his mind. Since Neev was also here, he had no excuse to go back to Punjab to meet her. So he had decided to keep himself occupied with work and his dad had been more than happy with his decision. He had no other option but to wait till her exams got over and then he would get to meet his Pari again. He silently prayed for Prachi and to give him strength and headed home.

Goldy you updated, yay. i love this part, neev is soooo cute, i liked how he called milsi and asked him to make an excuse to get out of lunch, neev is really smitten by ayesha. cant wait to see how neev/ayesha relationship progresses. our milsi is also missing his pari, looks like he desperately wants her to actually say "i love you 2" rather than "me too".
