Part 4

Prachi had been having the time of her life. It had been a whole week since Neev came to India but it felt like it was just yesterday when Neev came to her room and had scared the daylights out of her.
"Neev!!!" Screamed Prachi, she was delighted and angry at the same time.
Neev just laughed and hugged her long time friend. It had been 4 yrs since they had met. She hadn't changed a bit, she looked like the same Prachi, he had left when he had gone for studies. "Tum sach mei abhi bhi vaise hi ho" Neev said letting her go. Prachi straightened her dupatta and hit him on the shoulder, "when did u come? aur akele hi aaye ho?? Aunti ke liye koi mem bahu nahi laaye" She asked teasingly. Neev let out a sigh remembering Ayesha..."hmmmm socha to tha par phir maine socha ki kahin tum bura na maan jaao." Now it was Prachi's turn to laugh.

They had spent every single day talking, they would meet after Prachi's college. They had a lot to talk about. Neev had a lot to talk about US while Prachi couldnot be kept quiet about the little happenings in her college or their small city. She talked about everything and sometimes Neev would just get bored but still he listened patiently.

Today also Prachi had spent her afternoon talking to Neev and now was returning back home as Lohri was coming close and she had to help her mom get a lot of things ready at their farmhouse. They had planned to celebrate Lohri on a large scale. Prachi was in her last yr of college whereas Saumya had just entered college. Both of Inder's daughters were doing well in their life and he had thought personally that this probably would be Prachi's last Lohri with them.

It was a beautiful afternoon , cool breeze was blowing. It had been raining since morning but now sun was shining high in the sky and everything looked pure after the rain. She was walking down the street, she loved the fragrance of the air right after the rain. She had just walked 2 blocks down Neev's house when suddenly a car went past her in the opposite direction drenching her in the muddy water from the puddle. Prachi was shocked and furious. Her pure white salwaar kameez had muddy spots all over. She turned towards the car and shouted at the top of her voice " eh, dekh kar gadi nahi chala sakte kya?" To her surprise, the car halted and a six foot figure clad in a t-shirt and jeans came out. The man took off his sunglasses and just stared at her. Prachi walked towards the person who had just stepped out of the car and was now standing just a few feet away. She lifted her finger in rage and started shouting "Tum dekh kar gadi nahi chala sakte kya??"

Milind had been restless ever since he left Sukriti. His sister was doing well in studies but still he couldn't shake the feeling. Sukriti seemed a little different than the last time he saw her. But he knew she could take care of herself. He now looked forward to spending some time with his dad and then going off to meet Neev and his family.

The weather had been pleasant when he arrived Delhi, even though it was winter. Mishraji was more than happy to see his son after a long time. He spent a few days with his dad and tagged along with him to his office which Mishraji insisted. He wanted Milind to take the ropes of the business in his hands now since his studies were over. His drive from delhi to punjab had been peaceful. He just admired the beautiful farms and the scenery along the way. The driver told him they would be reaching their destination in a matter of minutes when suddenly somebody shouted at him and the driver. He got out and removed his sunglasses to see what had happened. And what he saw made him stand rooted to the spot.
