Hey JC, sorry, i'm beyond late with comments.yes i noticed😭😆 no worries...as long as you are reading. Just want to say i loved the previous few parts as well. Right shocker at the end alright.lolz...me love to give shocks. Can't wait for your exams to be over 😛 I loved Milind and Asha tai's scene the most. I hope it's got him thinking. Glad we know what's sorta happened with Kavya and Anjali but you still haven't explained what happened to her legs? I'll explain slowly. Hope Sukrati's going to be ok. Thanks for the update hun! 😃 she won't die...
gr8 part JC, i still cant get over asha tai's secretive smile, looks like she will play michi's cupid 😳 lolz...yes thats a secret smile alright.😉so suk is trying to commit suicide, interesting twist 👏 knowing prachi she'l probably go in and try to save suk, hope both of them get out without being hurt. well we know our Prachi.😃

Hey JC!!!! Kya haal-chahal hai?? 😃 Gosh pragz...whats up with you...long time.😆😆😆
Part 39 : Wow!! That was a lot of slapping and hitting!! I had to read it twice, the second time slowly to understand who was slapping around whom!!!! 🤣 lolz...hope it wasn't too confusing.😆
I was very upset with Milind! I know the character is one which is perpetually blinded by fury and never seems to learn that anger is not the solution but I don't understand why he feels he can always getaway with it!!! And so I was so glad that you got Asha Tai to set him straight! He needed that and I can only hope that from his next interaction on with Alaap, he will behave better! After all it is Alaap because of whom Sukruti spoke, nahi toh yeh jeevan bhar intezaar karta, aur woh kabhi na bolti! 😡 Pragz i have a feeling that you just like to hate Milsi...ur being a bit unfair no? Alaap was the reason Sukriti is in the condition she is in. And what Alaap did caused thier father a heartattack that took his life. So for the past 5 yrs Milsi has lived a life without family and little friends away from the life he loved because of Alaap. But thats on part of the injustice. What Alaap did to Sukriti is really unforgivable and I think Milind's violent reaction is justified to some extent. But being an aggressive type guy he does loose control sometimes and i think he just needs the inspiration to get in control of his anger. And hopefully he will.
Sorry, I am harsh on him! I never liked that character from day one (hope I don't get hit by everyone here for saying that! 😆 ) lolz Pragz...you better run. haha...no jus kidding. I'll take that as my inability to define Milsi's character properly. Come to think of it, i really haven't given a good reason to like him. hmmm...what can we do about that. *thinking*
It was a great move....getting Sukruti to speak again!
Thankyou.
Part 40 : Oh! So Anjum and Anjali are sisters! Apparently twins........waiting to know more about how that came about! yes there is a tiny twist (rather twist of fate) about that.
This part had very good narration, I liked the part. And Sukruti attempting suicide! WOW......I did not expect that, very good twist!!! *grinning* thankx. I noe no one expected it.
In fact this act of her's is going to bring many people close to each other 👏 possible...
And ofcourse JC, all that you write about Ritwik is fantastic!!!! I enjoy reading about his character! 😊 lolz...that was barely one line.😆😆😆 Thankx Pragz for taking the time to read. I know your very busy.
Chapater 41: Assurance
Sorry for the delay. I was being lazy.😆
Recap: Asha tai felt her heart about to stop as she looked on in terror as some other servants too gathered and were now breaking the door open. They managed to open the door and exactly at that moment they saw Sukriti drop the match and the floor around her lit blue.
Prachi was barely aware of her own actions as she charged past the shocked servants and her hands grabbed the fire extinguisher that hung on the wall. She sprayed it blindly in Sukriti's direction. Thankfully it had the desired effect and Prachi stood staring at Sukriti who had fallen on the floor. She too dropped on her knees tired from the effects of adrenaline that pumped through her seconds ago. Prachi had the heart to slap the girl sitting in front of her but she didn't. Instead she realized that Sukriti had not even screamed in the pain from the burn on her feet. She was sitting calmly staring at the scars of the fire that was left on the white floor. Prachi didn't know what to do next. So she sat waiting for a reaction from Sukriti. Asha tai moved towards them but Prachi gestured her to stop and let them be. Asha tai was uncertain but nonetheless ordered the servants out of the kitchen and warned them that the event should not become the talk of the town.
After a long silence, Sukriti finally moved her eyes towards Prachi. At first she stared blankly at her but slowly her eyes started filling up and when it reached up to the brim she let out an agonizing cry. Sukriti cried unstoppably and Prachi didn't attempt to make her stop. She let her cry her pain and finally Sukriti tried to say a few words amidst the sobs, "Mujhe jeene ka koi hakk nahi hai bhaabhi" Prachi took Sukriti's face in her hands and trying to make her face as hard as she could under the circumstances, she said, "Baba ko tumne nahi maara hai Sukriti. Unka saath itna hi likha tha haamari zindagi mein. Sukriti tum sirf apni pichli galtiyon ke baare mein soch rahi ho? Tumhe apni zimmedaariyon se koi matlab nahi?" Sukriti's sobs subsided momentarily and she looked at Prachi with her big brown eyes and Prachi recognized that these were the eyes that Ritwik had too…the same innocence was evident in them but it was clouded by anguish.
"Galtiyan insaan se hi hoti hai Sukrti" Prachi continued. "Aur jab galtiyon ka pachtaava ho toh usse bada sudhaar nahi hota. Maaf kardo apne aapko. Unke liye jo tumse bohot pyar karte hai, jinko zaroorat hai tumhaari…khud ko yun sazaa mat do Sukriti."
Sukriti didn't say anything and Prachi felt that this was probably not the time to say anything further. Asha tai had called Milind and Prachi helped Sukriti to her room and after Sukriti bathed off the flammable oil she came out to find Milind waiting for her with the doctor. He remained quiet while the doctor examined Sukriti but Sukriti would steal glances at her grim brother and wondered what he might say to her when he did open his mouth.
After seeing off the doctor Milind returned to Sukriti's room and found Prachi sitting with her. Prachi got up seeing him and thinking that he wanted to be alone with his sister, she left the room. But Milind followed her out and stopped her by her arm. She turned and questioned him with her eyes and Milind felt at a loss for words. He knew that it was only because of her that the most important person in his life was alive today. Thanking her was not going to be enough. He wanted to tell her that he was indebted to her for life. But when he opened his mouth, words failed him. What he was feeling right this moment was too overwhelming. Prachi looked at him concerned and moved closer. "Milind whats wrong? Why are you looking like that? Sab theek hai na Milind?" Milind looked around him for a cue that would help him start but he didn't find anything and he realized that Prachi was getting worried by his silence. Then without thinking he grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to him and hugged her. Prachi was shocked as his hand went around her and he simply stood hugging her with his eyes squeezed shut. He was hoping that whatever was in his heart would somehow just spill over and Prachi would understand. But after a few moments he realized what he was doing was silly and he slowly separated her from him. He tried to say something but was intteruped. "Its ok Milind" she managed to say as she tucked her hair behind her ears. "You don't have to say anything" she assured him with a smile and motioned towards Sukrti's room. Then she briskly walked towards her room and Milind kept watching her. When she got in and closed the door he headed back to Sukriti's room.
Sukriti was sitting on her bed and she sensed her brother coming closer and her eyes traced down to her burned feet. He sat down facing her but neither said anything for a while. Finally Milind pulled his thoughts together and looked at Sukriti to say something when he realized that she was crying and he knew it even though her tears didn't show and her eyes were downcast. He reached for her chin and raised her face and sure enough the tears were shining in her eyes. "Eh Sukriti," he whispered, breaking the silence of the room. "tujhse kitni baar kaha hai maine, in motiyon ko zayaa nahi karte. Bohot keemti hote hain" he spoke tenderly and took her tears onto his fingers before they fell. Sukriti couldn't hold the weight of guilt anymore and she hugged her brother and cried bitterly. Her whole body was shaking and Milind hugged her so tightly that she almost couldn't breathe. "Do you hate me bhaiya?" she asked after a while and Milind pulled her back and looked at her incredulously. "Tu pagal ho gayi hai Sukriti? How can you even think that?" "Haan, lekin agar phir tune aisa kuch kiya, toh jaan le loonga teri. Suna tune?" he added, getting his voice back. She chuckled once and then whispered, "I am sorry bhaiya, I am so sorry" and Milind took her back into a hug and thanked his lucky stars that he had told Prachi about Sukriti's suicidal tendency.
Sukriti knew at that moment that she would never do such stupidity again yet Milind was not assured. He wanted his sister to heal completely from her past. He wanted badly for her to forget it and move on. But unfortunately he just didn't know how to talk to her. He realized that it would take her time and he could only wait for it. But his desire to see his sister happy again was making him impatient. Coming out of Sukriti's room he dialed Ayesha's number. Ayesha was the only other person who was close to Sukriti and knew everything too. And Milind trusted Ayesha in helping Sukriti come out her depression. After filling Ayesha in on the events of the past few days he headed towards his room where he knew he'd find Prachi.
Prachi was playing with Ritwik who just had just woken up and seeing Milind he quieted down. "Prachi I couldn't find the words earlier," he started. "But I just wanted you to know…" " I know" Prachi cut in. "But Milind, Sukriti is not a stranger to me. We may not have been best friends but I have known her since she was a child. And in the past month and a half I have connected to her more. I didn't save your sister Milind. I tried to save my friend. And I am not about to take your gratitude for it." Milind remained quiet and accepted what Prachi said. But he was a slightly surprised by the tone of her voice. She seemed almost angry. She moved past him when he grabbed her hand and she looked back surprised to find him looking at her with a mix of emotions. He let go of her hand and flopped down on the bed and attempted to control his emotions. "I could have lost her today Prachi if it wasn't for you. And she doesn't even realize what I went though. She thinks I hate her." Prachi realized he was about to cry and her heart cried before the tear fell from his eyes. Her first instinct was to reach for his face but she remained stiff and made a fist to prevent such an action. She slowly bent down in front of him and he looked up at her, surprised by the fact that he found it perfectly natural to cry in front of her. "Usse thoda vakt do Milind." Prachi said, her voice softer than it had been before. "She'll be fine. I promise…main uska zyaada khayal rakhoongi." She strengthened her assurance by placing her hand on his and he squeezed her hands lightly. "I know" he said and she could see the hope in his eyes. He already knew what Prachi would say and he knew that Sukriti would be fine but hearing someone say that to him with the kind of surety that Prachi had, it seemed all the more possible that his sister would infact be alright. They sat in that position looking into each other's eyes for a few more seconds when both realized that the silence was getting awkward. Prachi let go of his hands and he released her's reluctantly. Then she got up and started to get Ritwick ready for his bath but Milind's eyes kept following her around the room.
Prachi could feel his eyes on her. She reminded herself that she could not allow Milind to get too close to her and so she ignored his gaze and quickly escaped into the bathroom. She wasn't doing anything to impress Milind or to gain his attention or appreciation. Yet life was throwing her in situations that just brought them closer and that was completely against Prachi's intentions. She had been so hopeful when Sukriti started speaking again. She was sad on the part that she would have to leave Milind but she was also glad that she could finally be free from the sticky situation she had put herself in. She knew that the longer she stayed with him as his wife the harder it would be for her to leave. But now, after knowing Sukriti's mental state was still delicate and the events of today, she couldn't think of leaving anytime soon. She couldn't give her Ritwik to Sukriti. Sukriti wasn't ready to take his responsibility. So Prachi had to stay. But for how long? Would Sukriti ever be ready to take Ritiwik's responsibility? And what about sending him to school and the adoption papers that were signed by Alaap? Was she still going to adopt Ritwik legally with Sukriti's present condition and the reality that soon Sukriti might be mentally declared capable of raising her child? All these questions were suffocating her as she soaped up Ritwik. And she didn't see any solutions. Time would tell, she told herself and breathed a sigh. That was the only solution right now.
Ayesha arrived soon after and was very much concerned but Milind assured her that Sukriti was doing fine now. Ayesha headed to Sukriti's room and after a really long time, during which Ayesha and Sukriti rekindled their friendship and Ayesha managed to give Sukriti some comfort, they both headed down. Milind insisted on Ayesha staying for dinner but she excused herself as she knew that her family would be waiting for her at home. She hadn't told them anything and had rushed out of the house and by now Neev had called her at least 5 times.
After Ayesha left, Milind knew that it was the right move to have called her. Sukriti seemed somehow more lively. She wasn't smiling but the fact that she was not cooped up in her room and was interacting with everyone was an improvement enough for the day. The most remarkable of changes that Milind observed was that Sukriti gave a small smile when she watched Ritwik being himself with Prachi at the dinner table. That was the first time Milind had seen Sukriti even looking at her son after that day she spoke out. He watched his family at the table and somehow knew that things would only get better from now.

After about two weeks
Sukriti: "Bhabhi, please make him understand. He will listen to you, please bhabhi."
Prachi: "Ok Sukriti but are you sure that's what you want to do."
Sukriti: "I've decided to go bhabi. But Bhaiya won't agree."
Prachi: "Are wah…dono bhai behen ek jaise ho. Both are stubborn. Now whose mind do I try to change?"
Sukriti: "Bhaiya ka. Because he is being unreasonable and only you can influence him. Please Bhabhi"
Prachi wondered at Sukriti's misconception of her relationship with Milind but didn't say anything.
Prachi: "Sukriti he is not being unreasonable. He is just worried about you."
Sukriti: "I know bhabhi but I need to go. Mere liye yehi behtar hoga. Aap please bhaiya koh samjhaiye na"
Sukriti was right. She needed a change to be able to start her life afresh. And that's exactly what she had decided to do. Milind had been overjoyed when Sukriti came to him and told him that she wanted to complete her education. But what he wasn't ready for was to let her go away to college. But she was adamant that she didn't want to stay in Mumbai, or go back to her old college where the memories of her past won't leave her. She wanted to start a new life in a new city with new settings and new friends. It was the best way for her to move forward. But Milind's concern was not unfounded. He was afraid of letting her out of his sight. He still wasn't' assured that she wouldn't try to hurt herself again. Unlike him, Prachi was certain that Sukriti was making positive changes in her life. It had started with her acceptance of her past mistakes. She had made the conscious effort to forgive herself and she had established a relationship with Ritwik too. Ritwik still didn't know her as his mother, but they were getting along well and Prachi knew that soon she could reach the goal she had set for herself and that would also mark the end of her marriage with Milind.
But now Sukriti had decided to move away for her education and that left things hanging again. Regardless, it was a positive change and Prachi was only happy that Sukriti wanted to be independent and take care of her responsibilities herself. Prachi had decided to encourage Sukriti in this and now was entrusted to task of getting Milind to let Sukriti move to Delhi where she had found the university she wanted to attend.
Prachi thought for hours on how to convince Milind. His biggest problem was that Sukriti would be alone and un-monitored. He wanted someone to keep an eye on his sister in case she ever tried to commit suicide again and having her stay in a college campus or hostel was not appealing to Milind. They didn't have any family or friends in Delhi either where they could let Sukriti stay. Finally, Prachi settled on an idea and dialed the number for an old friend who lived in Delhi now. She was the only option Prachi had in trusting with Sukriti's information and Prachi knew that her friend would consider Sukriti nothing less than a sister. After talking with her, she confirmed that Sukriti was more than welcome to come to Delhi and stay with them. Prachi had not informed her of the real concern about Sukriti as she wanted Milind to agree first.
That night after much arguments Milind finally agreed on the condition that he would personally meet Prachi's friend and if he was not convinced that it was the right place and family for his sister then Sukriti would come back to Mumbai with them and not talk of moving anywhere else. Sukriti was glad that even if on a condition, Milind had finally agreed. Prachi accepted the condition only because she knew that Milind would be satisfied.
