PART – 36
Milind sat up on the bed and watched Prachi sleeping besides him. Her head was on the pillow while her hand lay negligently on him. She was fast asleep. A small smile curved his lips as he watched her. Removing her hands from his side, Milind gently placing it on the bed as he got up to get dressed. His shirt was draped drunkenly on the footboard of the bed.
Pulling his pants up and buttoning it he pulled his shirt from the foot of the bed and negligently shrugged into it.
Prachi woke up from her dreamless sleep and slowly opened her eyes. As she watched from the bed she saw Milind buttoning his shirt intently. He had not looked at her yet. Pulling the bed sheet over naked body she sat up pushing her hair away from her face.
Her back was against the headboard as she watched him.
Milind looked up as soon as he realized that she was awake. Their eyes collided with each other and a blush suffused her body from head to toe. The heat from his eyes scorched her. Milind folded the sleeve of his shirt with careless disregard as he walked towards her.
Her eyes looked down with embarrassment as he neared her and sat down on the bed beside her. He lifted her bent head by holding her chin. Milind placed a tender kiss on her forehead as he pulled her into an embrace.
"Milind…"
"Hmmm…"
"I have to leave. What will everybody in the office think?" she asked with acute embarrassment at what they had done earlier.
"They will think that the boss wants some quiet time with his wife" he said with a nonchalant smile.
"Milind…but…" she said with a frown.
"Prachi!" Milind said exasperatedly. "Don't break your pretty head. Now, get ready soon. I promised Rithwick that I am taking him to the zoo and later in the evening we need to get ready for the reception" he said ending his command with a heartwarming smile for Prachi.
Milind got up and was about to open the door when Prachi stopped him again…
"Milind…"
"We will talk in detail later, Prachi" he said with a smile sensing that she wanted to talk to him and he was about to open the door when Prachi called out to him once again.
"Milind…."
"O.k! What is it baba?" he said with exasperation as he walked back to her.
"hmmm…" she said with embarrassment
"Prachi…What is it?" he said with total exasperation as he placed his hands on his hips.
"My clothes…" she said in a small voice as she bent her head down. Milind realized that prachi was calling him because her clothes were strewn all over the floor and she wanted it. A mischievous imp took over.
"What about them?" he asked with a lift of his eyebrows and a smile in his eyes.
"Can you get them for me please?" she asked in a pleading voice.
"No…" he said with a stern smile to her. Inside, he was laughing and enjoying himself at her state. She looked damn cute sitting there holding a bed sheet against her and all the while pleading with him to get her dress.
"Milind…Please"
"Well, I like you this way…..So, if you need your clothes you have to give me something as an incentive" he said with an evil grin.
Prachi was surprised to see this playful side of him. All she had ever seen was the business tycoon who ran his business empire with a tight fist and a lover who was bent on revenge against her.
Prachi knew that she needed to have the talk and cleanse their souls of any residual apprehension but for now she was quite happy to idle away their time like this. For the first time she saw a genuine heartfelt smile in him. Happy tears suddenly streamed down her eyes as she stared at him with a smile on her face.
"Prachi, what happened?" with abruptness he came and sat down besides her on the bed seeing her eyes fill up once again.
"I was only kidding, Prachi. I will get you, your clothes" saying he got up once again but prachi stopped him by holding his hands. Milind slowly sat down and watched her. Inching forward with the bed sheet in tow she hid her face against his chest and hugged him.
Milind's hands slowly caressed her long willowy hair as tears fell on his shirt. He soothed her heart and her senses. Slowly, Prachi glanced up at him from his chest and Milind looked down at her at the same time. Their eyes collided and it spoke a thousand words that were spoken yet unspoken between them.
Words were not necessary at this moment. Two hearts had become one and they were rejoicing and thanking fate that had brought them together once again.
Moving Prachi away from him, Milind got up from the bed and picked up her clothes silently and handed it over to her. "I will wait outside in my office. Dress up and come out soon" saying Milind silently stepped outside firmly closing the door and giving her the much needed privacy.
Milind stood by the window as he watched the skyline. Finally, their misunderstandings had been cleared but he still wanted to talk to her. Maybe, tonight he thought. His hands on the glass he was contemplating their past when he heard the door open. He glanced sideways from the window and saw Prachi stepping out of the room. She looked like an etheral vision.
Prachi glanced up and seeing Milind looking at her she ran to him and hugged him from the back. "I love you" Prachi said as she hugged him tightly.
Pulling her to the front and holding her against window he stared at her. She had given him the one joy he had always wanted. His hands slowly traveled to her stomach and he placed it there. With reverence he said, "I hope we made a baby today"
"Me too" Prachi said quietly as she laid her head against his arms. They stood there in silence as Prachi thought of a little boy with unruly hair while Milind thought of cute little girl like Prachi.
Steadying his heart and trying to get a hold of his emotions "Time to go now. Let's go and pick up Rithwick and leave for the zoo" saying his hands snaked around her hips. Holding her tightly against his side he walked with her to the elevators outside of his office. He held her close to him and wouldn't let her leave as they went down the elevator and then to the car. Milind dismissed his driver and decided to drive the car himself.
Prachi got it in and Milind followed suit taking the driver seat. After a little while Prachi scooted closer and placed her head on his arms as he extended his arms to the back of her seat.
He drove in silence as the peacefulness of the atmosphere settled in between them.
Rithwick was ready and waiting outside for Prachi and Milind. As soon as he saw the car he ran towards it and even before Milind could get out he jumped up and down excitedly.
"Papa, let's go. Let's go"
"O.k..Baba…" with that Milind got out of the car and picked him up. Handing him over to Prachi he sat back in the car and all the three of them waved bye to Premlatha who was waiting on the corridor watching them silently.
Milind, Prachi and Rithwick spent nearly two hours at the zoo. Rithwick had enjoyed it immensely. He had eaten ice-cream and played with the birds and watched the lions and the elephants at the zoo. He had enjoyed the whole trip. Right now, he was sitting in Prachi's lap sound asleep against her.
Milind got out of the car and collected Rithwick from her and carried him inside. Prachi followed him quietly behind. It was 6.00 in the evening and the party was supposed to start at 8.00. She knew that Rithwick was really tired and he would sleep through the night.
Milind climbed the stairs and placed him on the bed in Saumya's room. Prachi and Milind silently changed his clothes as he squirmed not liking the intrusion to his sleep. Placing pillows all around him so that he would not fall of the bed both of them kissed him on his forehead and walked away silently closing the door and letting him sleep.
Milind and Prachi went to Prachi's bedroom and were surprised to see clothes for the party tonight. There was a sky blue sherwani for him and there was a beautiful dark blue lehenga for Prachi.
Milind had actually ordered a surprise for Prachi and he was waiting with anticipation to give it to her later today.
"Do you want to take a bath first?" Milind asked looking at Prachi.
"Hmmm!" Prachi said nodding her head
"I will go and grab my laptop from the car while you finish your bath o.k?" saying Milind went outside to get his laptop from the car and deciding to get some work done before the party.
Prachi watched him leave with a small smile on her face. Opening her wardrobe she absently took a towel and entered the bathroom. Discarding her clothes she stepped into the shower and breathed a sigh as a jet of hot water hit her.
Finishing up her bath, Prachi stepped outside with a large towel covering her body and wet water droplets falling from her hair. She stepped out of the bathroom and saw Milind seriously working on his laptop.
Milind stopped his typing and glanced up to see Prachi standing at the bathroom entrance. Flicking his hands he asked her come over to him. Prachi slowly approached him with a shy smile on her lips. Once she was close he pulled her onto his lap. Her hands automatically went around his neck.
"Milind…your dress is getting wet…" she said with shyness in her voice as she refused to look at him.
"It's alright"
"Milind..There is going to be water on your laptop" Prachi tried to get up from his lap but he held her tightly not allowing her to get up.
"Milind…Please…"
"No..first tell me that you love me..then…I will think about letting you get up" he said with a smile
"O.k baba…I love you" saying she buried her face in his neck.
Milind pulled her face forward and placed a tender kiss on her lips. "Now, that you have said that to me I will go and gave my bath" saying he picked her up from his lap and placed her on the bed.
Grabbing a towel from besides her he went to the bathroom. Turning back he looked at her with a smile and said "Get ready in 15 minutes otherwise we are not leaving this room till morning" with that he shut the door
It took a few minutes for the meaning of his words to sink in. With a blush Prachi hurriedly got up and got dressed.
When Milind came out wiping his hair with a towel he found her sitting on the vanity stool and applying her makeup. She looked beautiful in the blue lehenga. It went perfectly with her complexion. It had sequins and zari work done all over it.
Milind quietly walked towards his laptop carrier. He pulled a case out of his laptop bag and stood behind her. As she looked up startled he opened the case and placed a sapphire necklace around her neck.
Their eyes collided on the mirror as his hand traced the swan like neck. Goose bumps slithered down her spine at the light touch. Briskly locking the clasp around her neck he placed a tender kiss on her shoulders.
Prachi stood mesmerized as she stared at their silhouettes on the mirror.
She was dressed in feminine clothes which draped across her curves beautiful while he stood beside her the exact opposite of her a solid body which complimented her willowy frame.
