Chapter 6

Prachi got home and apprised her mother about the details of the day. Her mother was horrified at first but Prachi managed to calm her down. Her siblings of course had one question, were they still going to be able to afford their lifestyles? She of course set their minds at ease that they were still rich. Her stepsister Ayesha however seemed to gloat that Prachi had effectively run their business into the ground. She even had the gall to tell Prachi that maybe she should take over management at Shah's and Prachi could stay home and take care of the house. After all Milind Mishra was her friend and he would definitely listen to her if they wanted the company back. Ayesha made sure that Prachi knew that she was indeed "good friends" with Milind. Prachi would have loved to put the obnoxious woman in her place but today she didn't have the energy.

She walked up to her bedroom and got ready for bed. She sent a quick email to her friend Neev about the events of the day. Neev was her childhood friend who was now working for an investment firm on Wall Street. They were close but staying on the opposite sides of the planet made keeping up with each other's lives difficult, but they were making it work. She didn't want him hearing of the take over from another source. Knowing Neev it would offend and hurt him and she really didn't want to do that.

Her cell phone rang and it was Geet who quickly "conferenced" Mrudula. Her friends obviously thought she was on the verge of a nervous break down or else they wouldn't be smothering her like this.

"So Prachi was the big bad wolf cute? You never answered that question!" Geet asked.

"Geet! I don't want to talk about him and for the love of god don't want to know more about your patients. I love you hun but I don't have the stomach for some of your stories." Prachi countered, all the while thinking that if Geet had scene the Greek god in her office she would have probably fainted.

"Guys, we still have to plan for the concert. We are still going right?" It was Mru the music freak. Missing this concert would break her heart because of the music she'd miss while Geet would be heart broken that she couldn't see Adam Levine in person and Prachi would be heartbroken that she missed an opportunity to hang out with her friends.

"We are definitely going Mru. How about we all take the day off and waste it? Lunch, movie and then go to the concert. I really need a girl's day. Geet hun you think you can take a day off? I mean you were with me the whole day." Prachi asked

"Nah. I was off today after pulling the night shift. So technically I wasted my day on your drama woman! And you don't even tell me if the ogre was cute. You owe me big time." Geet laughed.

"Oh My God Geet! Yes the man was hot! Are you happy now you maniac?" Prachi said laughing along with her.

" Its ok hun. Well it was going just fine till Mru decided to take away my phone privileges like I was a 6 year old." Geet complained.


"Hey! You were falling asleep. I thought you need the rest! I'm sorry for thinking about you." Mru declared.

"Ok I forgive you." Geet offered graciously.

"Geet I really didn't mean…" Mru started to say something but never got the chance to finish.

"Its ok Mru I know you feel bad" Geet teased, "So Prachi, what did the resident wicked witch of the west say? I'm still all for having a house dropped on her!" Geet and Mru weren't big fans of her new stepsister. In all fairness, they had tried to give Ayesha a fair chance inviting her to lunches, dinners and movies. Geet had even gone a step further and asked Ayesha if she'd like a job at one of her fathers companies. But Ayesha had not only turned all their invitations down, she had also insulted them more than once.

"Girls please I need to get some sleep. It's been a very very long day. Lets call it a night and talk in the morning." Prachi guessed that her not answering the question about her sister's behavior was all answer the other two needed.

The three women said their good nights and went to bed. While the other two slept peacefully Prachi kept having dreams of the handsome ogre in her office. She woke up in a sweat and cursed Geet. Obviously her best friend's near obsession with the opposite sex was wearing off on her.
