folks!! this question has been hovering in my mind for past few days tht does the liberation of women has to be signified by wearing revealing & bindaas costumes esp. in metro cities (i am talking in INDIA) .😛

actually recently one of my uncle-aunty were transferred to MUMBAI , my aunty was actu. shocked to see the life style of upper middle class & upper class society at mumbai , my uncle-aunty got flat in a sub-urb area in mumbai ,my aunty says tht almost all the women in her building are wearing those noodle strap & off shoulder dressess most of the time ( my aunty is used to wearing salwar -suits generally -sarees & jeans /shirt occasionally ) my aunty told me tht wearing shoulderless /off-shoulder /noodle strap /plunging neck lines is not at all a big thing there in mumbai & the guys of mumbai are used to see the gals in this bindaas way!! they don't mind it!!

i then thought tht why the hell i was so worried for-- what sajeeda was wearing in her b'day party( sanjeeda wore a short dress with deep plunjing neck line) & the gal in red costume with neck line in the pic with shabbir & the gals tht r shown in page 3 parties on zoom tv !! when such type of stuff is not considered a big deal in mumbai & even the gals who r not related to this media field r wearing such stuff in their day to day life then what's the big deal when these media related gals wear them !!

actually i am from a NORTH-INDIAN state & in north indian states wearing such stuff not considered a good thing ,even i cannot think in my worst dreams abt wearing such stuff man!! MY CONSCIENSE wud never allow me to do tht !!!, it's good to wear western costumes but those costumes have to be decent ones !! like i wear jeans with shirts/t-shirts always ,i even don't like wearing salwar suits (i feel irritating in putting duppata ,i really feel uneasy in holding duppatas) so when i wear jeans/t-shirt ,atleast i am covered from neck to toe & it's a western & cool outfit also ! so why the hell !! the women at metro cities to prove their liberation have to wear such revealing stuff !! this thought is really pathetic !! the women at my aunties building look at muy aunty with eyes wide open when she wears sarees (sometimes) & most of the time she wears suits !!!

i wanna ask all u guys who live abroad tht does this system is also prevalent there also !! just for the sake of showing liberation & for pretentions all u NRI'S wear such stuff with ease or u & ur mom /sis /aunties feel un-comfortable while wearing such stuff !!😊

just as the vamps in ekta's shows are shown wearing those revealing blouses with sareess is a truth in mumbai society , but i really hate this thing ,i wonder what pleasure a lady cud get by wearing a revealing costume ???

i know this is not related to kayamath show but it's just a thought came to my mind!! all u NRI members plz !! tell abt the dressing sense in abroad countries !! i am really eager abt tht!!!!😛

Well, i just moved to the UK an year ago for the sake of studying and i was astonished by the way Indian girls have transformed. I belong to South India and we have bound to traditions more than the Northern states... and these girls come here and start to show off that annoyed me in the begining too. But I am now used to seeing them like that. The other day I was at a party and was in my normal jeans and T an Indian guy came to me and asked me to dance w him!!!! I was shocked and felt a lil embarassed... i immediately said a big NO!!! So even here the people are trying to immitate the complete western style which is kind'a sad. I dnt mind people wearing revealing clothes as long as they can carry them and they dont look vulgar!!! For eg; if u see Sush or Ash in a revealing dress they dnt seem vulgar but if the same is worn by Rakhi Sawanth ( no offence) you can imagine......
So in my opinion although u wear such clothes carry them with the right attitude ....... and more importantly select the ones that suits u!!!

👏Nice question👏 You are right and I agree with you here? I been living abroad since 13 years and been to so many countries like Australia, Singapore, London, USA, Switzerland, Dubai and now in Saudia. All these years I have seen all glamour of life and now being fed up from this high porch societies lifestyle?

Virtually its up to a person and moral belief as well that how you take the things and I am glad that u Aunti respect these values?

Their is no harm in wearing trouser and shirts but when it comes to show up your body parts and explode them as I am totally against of it?😊

I stayed in lot of luxuries hotels like Ritz Carlton is one of them and noticed that western people do these kinds of stuff. But I still prefer to stay in one,s religious and moral limits which are wonderful and unique experience for everybody.😊

So dear you are right here and I am really happy that you ask this question and I am sure others will also support this point as well?👏

I dont think the length of a dress makes a woman good or bad. i find it very wrong when people judge a woman's character for the clothes they wear. There are millions of women in our country who wear western clothes that doesnt make them characterless or shameless. ones roots and holding on to culture is not dependent on the length of clothes or how much amount of skin is being covered. its an individual's choice. if he/she finds comfort and ease in western style of clothing or jeans, micro mini, saree or skirt, burkha, kurta its entirely their personal life as long as they dont wear a wrong thing in a wrong place like wearing a bikini in a funeral or office. many a times this kind negative pre-conceived notions leads to ragging and eve teasing in colleges and schools. if a guy wears a vest with shorts he'll not be called cheap and our society will not pass comments on his character but if a woman wears a sleeveless or tank top then some people of our country will pass some derogatory comments.
if a person carries off their dress well and look comfortable then its great no matter what kind of clothing it is. if the clothes are being carried off well with comfort and grace then there is nothing wrong in it.. again grace is not only related to the length or style of clothing but the way its being carried off by the person who is wearing it. our male superstars of bollywood all does skin-show poses shirtless but its considered great but if a woman wears anything not 'all covered' she becomes anything but a good person. thats one sad situation of our country.

i have nothing against girls of this generation in our country who wear western or girls who does not wear western and cover themselves from head to toe beacuse i think indian women have the ability to carry any kind of clothes. its a personal choice. a same dress might look elegant and nice on someone and the same dress might look vulgar on another person all depends on the way its being carried.

I don't know if I have to actually agree with all that you say. I moved to Canada 5 years ago and this is a land that has maximum immigrated population. When I came here I moved to a brown dominated area and I found many girls wearing decent outfits with little or no exposure. I hardly found spegetty topped or plunge line dresses. Some of them even wore traditional dresses to school. I later moved to a totally white dominated area and I have seen a mixture of Indian girls living here. To be honest I find that Indian kids born in a foreign land respect our tradition more better than Indian kids who have moved to a foreign land. I have seen a wide range of people living in canada and most of them were decent outfits and clothes to school, work, colleges, restaurants, community centres and so on. They rarely wear dresses with maximum exposure. However there are certain people who do that but we cannot consider them as a part of the majority. Infact I had a cultural shock when I came to India on a visit and saw how my friends had changed totally. They started frequenting pubs and disco bars, wearing more revealing outfits, having more than 1 boyfriends and so on. So there is always a range. It depends on who you hang out with. I usually hang out with my western friends and they don't wear revealing clothes.

vidyac2003: u r so right! i think most of the gurlz out here in canada (white included) dress decently unless one's goin clubbing. i have heard stories abt the rapid change of ppl living in india n even madhuri dixit mentioned in one her recent interviews that nri's are more attached to their traditions, roots etc. but hey, know what, to each his own!! live n let live...who seriously cares abt the way others dress...as long as they r fine with it! altho i did have what can be termed 'slight culture shock' on my last visit to india. :P

sita11: i am surprised that ppl in ur aunt's bldg stare at her coz she wears sarees. that doesnt even happen here!! weird!! n isnt saree like india's national dress for women. how hypocritical!

To be honest...I was born in the UK and frankly girls here are more modest than girls in India/Bombay (that I've seen so no offence to anyone, really.) Only time people wear revealing clothes here is when they're clubbing or at a party...to be fair, you dont have to reveal to be stylish/modern, but it's a personal choice.

@soulfry 👏 👏 👏 - I totally agree with you. I hate it when people judge others simply coz they dont dress according to their standards. It's soooo sickkkk 🤢 🤢 🤢
