PART 27
The meeting took some time, Prachi sat on her spot. Passing individuals gave her curious looks, but she stayed put. She was beginning to get anxious and was uncomfortable when Milind's assistant asked if she was alright. Prachi didn't respond but instead continued to look down.
Awhile later, Prachi heard the door open to the conference room and felt relief. She looked up but Milind had strode past, not realising it was her sitting there. Her face fell, and she stood, following him quietly to the car. It was there he become aware of someone behind him. He turned to see Prachi,
He was undoubtedly surprised, perhaps more at his own negligence "Prachi…? Maine socha tum ghar chaligai ho gi…tum theek to ho?" he gently held her by the arms, shrugging she freed herself and went to sit in the car, slamming the door loudly.
"Naraaz ho?" he asked her once in the car.
"Nahi..." she said simply and then remained quiet for the rest of the journey. Prachi was stewing, he didn't even apologise…she was indeed angry, he had promised to always be with her, and it seemed he forgot his promises easily. More importantly, she was angry at herself for caring.
Once home, Prachi went straight up to her room. Premlata came later with some food and Prachi requested that Ritwik sleep with her tonight. She wanted to be distracted, and not by the thought of Milind.
Prachi looked at the sleeping form of Ritwik, unable to concentrate on her writing as her mind kept wondering to the day's events. She had started jotting down stories and memories she was told about, recently there was the addition of phrases or sentences she said that were unfamiliar to her. She sat by the window and looked out, the sky was dark and thunder clapped overhead, she felt the same inside, like a storm was brewing.
She pressed her fingers against the cool glass as she heard rain drops smash against it. As if in a trance, her feet acting on their own accord, she climbed the steps towards the terrace. The air was humid, but she was unaware. The raindrops hit her skin, thick and wet, she let the water wash over her, erasing the memories of today. She was scared of her reaction to what had happened today. How could she trust what she was feeling when she didn't even know herself?
Her face upturned, she spun on the spot, outstretching her arms, she closed her eyes, savouring the feeling. She was unconscious to the person watching her; it appeared as if though Milind had the same intention as her.
Milind walked soundlessly towards her in quick long steps, she stopped, sensing his presence. He stared at her through the rain but she turned away from him, embarassed. Milind captured her hand in his quickly, pulling her back towards his chest slowly. She quivered against his body and Milind, still holding her hand; spun her around to face him and pulled her in hard. His free hand claimed her waist, she jerked at the contact. He looked down at her as she blushed, her sari clinging to the curve of her body.
His eyes were wet but she couldn't tell that there were tears mingled in with the water from the rain that clung to his eyelashes. He moved his hand from her waist to her back, drawing her close as her own tears ran fast. His hand reached up to move her hair from her face, and she laid her head against his chest.
They swayed lightly to the sound of the rain. Milind's hand moved up her back and gently pushed her hair aside form her neck. His touch caused her skin to tingle. Her mouth opened as she gasped when Milind bent his head, grazing his lips against the skin of her shoulder. Wrapping her arms tightly around her waist, her body fitting perfectly into his, as his mouth travelled up her neck. He brushed his lips against hers softly; Prachi parted her lips, pressing her rain soaked body against his.
He heard her moan, and kissed her harder, however unwillingly they broke apart. His breathing heavy, Milind rested his forehead against hers. "Prachi…"he whispered into her hair…she froze…
"I love you…" she heard him whisper again, looking down at her, he saw that her eyes were swimming with tears. His own eyes clouded over with confusion as she backed away slowly, shaking her head. She turned and ran, climbing down the stairs quickly.
"Prachi…" Milind shouted, "Prachi…" he moved to follow her.
