Muneeza dear, I think what I was saying was slighly different. You see I feel he becomes the character not the other way around. When you think of Milind you imagine him to be what Shabbo has played him to be. His role as Rishi was so different from this one. He has enacted each role based on what they were meant to be. If he is given another character I am sure he will become that too. He would submerge himself in that character too. Someone like Robert De nero. If he plays the role with Shabbo the actor first on his mind, he will end up seeming repetitive. But no, the guy gets under the skin of the character and thus under our skins. So there is no fear of his ever becoming repetitive as long he is playing varied roles.
I agree Opti while portraying a character Shabbo enlivens it , he makes it jump to life the reason I said the character becomes him. All the while he plays the character he lives it just doesn't portray it. When we see Milind angry, hurt, depressed that's Shabbo enacting all those sentiments but do we even register him as Shabbo at that moment. No , rather we're too much engrossed in weeping buckets of tears over his misery. I agree that when Shabbo played Rishi he became that flamboyant playboy but now as Milind he's the rugged handsome chawl guy we so love. The basic statement being Shabbo is a marvellous actor even better than De Niro or anyone I've ever laid my eyes on.So whether he becomes the character or the character becomes him while he portrays it isn't the question here.😊
Munee, glad to know that you too meant what I felt.
Opti,I wanted to say thank u for this lovely post back then but I couldn't because I wasn't a member then and I didn't a laptop of own.........so thank u now and yes indeed u were and still so right Shabbir is one of the best out there now may god keep blessing him for us all.

Edited to add on September 29, 2008This is an old post but going through it and the comments posted by people, one realises why KYM is so dull these days. This guy made all the difference. This post was made during the height of PIM track when most of us were very upset with the storyline. Even in this track Prachi was the main cause of Michi heartbreak yet people sat through all that torture just to see this guy's thunderous performance ably matched by Panchi. And to think that the guy was physically absent for nearly a month and yet banked all his scenes in advance shows the level of commitment of the guy. If it had not been for his ill-health he would have been here by now and rocked the show no matter his other commitments if there are any. With the news that his health is improving and the hope that he will be back (atleast in another couple of weeks at the most), we can hope to get back the magic that is missing right now.
