Chapter 16
Milind was the first to wake up the next morning. It took him a full minute to get his bearings, when he suddenly noticed something black and shiny to the side of him. Prachi's face was almost fully covered by her hair. Milind smiled at her softly and pushed some of her hair off her face, when she suddenly stirred. Milind hastily got of the bed and headed to the bathroom. When he got out, Prachi was already up and making the bed. "You don't have to do that.", said Milind. Prachi just smiled and went to the bathroom. Nearly 45 minutes later, Milind knocked on the door, "Prachi, we got to go, we're gonna be late for breakfast." Prachi walked out of the bathroom and Milind felt the air slightly knocked out of him. She was wearing jeans, well fitting jeans with a yellow kurta top. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail and her mangal sutra was tucked away under her shirt but her sindoor was still visible. She looked like the prettiest girl on a college campus and she was his wife. Prachi saw Milind looking at her intently and averted her gaze but not before getting a good look at him. He was also wearing jeans. Prachi had seen him wear jeans lots of time but never with such a form fitting T-shirt. It showed off his wide shoulders, strong arms and flat abdomen to very good effect.
They were almost the last to join their tour party. The party was made up of mostly middle age Eurpoeans and a few American students. Everyone looked up when the striking Indian couple joined them. A few of the American girls were openly smiling at Milind. Milind was wearing sun glasses, so Prachi couldn't see whether if Milind was looking back at them. She hoped not. The tour was very informative about Switzerland's history, politics and geography. Their first stop was at Fraumnsterstrasse. Everyone loitered around, viewing the surrounding buildings. Prachi finding a chocolate shop stocked up, while Milind wandered around. After a while he realised he couldn't see Prachi anywhere, until a fellow tour party member pointed out to the Fraumnster Church. He entered the church which was cool, dark and quiet inspite of the hot summer atmosphere outside. He found Prachi standing in front of the Marc Chagall windows. Sensing Milind behind her, Prachi turned around and smiled at him. They both stood together in awed silence, staring at the beautiful blue, green and yellow stained glass which told tales from the Bible including that of Jesus Christ from birth till crucifixion . They both knew there was nobody else except for each other that they would have wanted to share the experience with.
Their final stop was at Lake Zurich by the huge beautiful lion statue. Prachi tired of posing for Milind's pictures, took the camera from him and forced him to stand in front of the statue. As Prachi framed the picture, she noticed something and broke into a wide smile. "Prachi, are you done as yet?", asked Milind impatiently. With a scrowl on his face, Prachi snapped the picture. Playing back the picture, Prachi burst out into a peal of laughter. With his slightly long, curly mane of hair, full bearded face and scrowl, Milind definitely bore some similarities to his stone companion. "What?!", asked Milind, completely puzzled as to what had gotten into his wife. "There is a bit of a resemblance." said Prahi between laughter, pointing from the lion statue to Milind. Milind looked back at the statue and started to advance slowly towards Prachi, "Prachi, give me the camera." "No, you are just going to delete the picture.", said Prachi retreating backwards. Milind was too quick for her and grabbed around her waist from behind. As he tried to get the camera out of her hand, Prachi suddenly twisted around, so that she was facing him. They both stopped and stared at each other. Milind still had his arms around her waist. Prachi had both her hands on his chest but found it impossible to push him away. Prachi felt her eyes instinctively close as Milind leaned in closer. Just then, they could hear loud voices behind them. A middle age Belgian couple on the tour with them, where arguing about the lateness of the time and rushing back to the bus. Remembering where they were, Milind and Prachi broke apart and headed back to the bus.
