Recap: Milind sets the stage for an encounter with Prachi, which she had no idea about. He wants revenge.
Part 36:
Prachi was busier than a bee. She had arrived in Syndey a few hours ago and immediately she had arrived at the developing hotel. The hotel was enormous and although unfinished, was extremely lavish. It was a definite 5 star property. The staff was already working at getting all of the last minute touches ready for the big opening which was in one week. Prachi was surprised that the hotel still did not have a name. The building had no signs on it, and Prachi figured out that the hotel development must be pretty top-secret.
Prachi had been picked up from the airport by a hotel driver. Arriving in Syndey, she felt an eerie familiarity with the city. The last time she had been here was with'.Prachi had not let herself finish that thought. Her past was behind her. She was a new woman.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Prachi was quickly escorted to her lavish hotel suite. Prachi unpacked her belongings, changed her clothes, and made her way down to the hotel lobby where she quickly made friends with some of the employees. There she met Diya, a pretty girl who was one of the four hotel managers. She was also from India. Diya was extremely helpful in showing Prachi around, and pretty soon Prachi found herself immersed in organizing the details of the hotel opening. Although she did not know much about the hotel, she did understand, from speaking to Diya and the other staff, that the grand opening must be lavish, and stylish, according to the wishes of the hotel owners.
It was seven in the afternoon, and the sun was beginning to set. Prachi sat in the lobby, and was busy outlining the details over the phone with a florist she had found online. Immediately after finishing her call, she saw a tall, leggy Indian woman walk in, with three hotel bellboys behind her carrying her various suitcases. Prachi was astonished to see the woman wearing the tiniest black tube dress Prachi had ever seen. It barely covered her. Furthermore, the sides of the dress were also open, revealing the lady's skin. Prachi looked down at her own outfit; a simple white kurta top with jeans. Prachi had decided not to wear an Indian outfit since nobody else was. However, she was shocked to see this Indian lady dressed so boldly. "Sure," Prachi thought, "It is one thing to try to fit in, but it is a whole other thing to dress to get attention." Prachi felt shy even looking over at the lady! Prachi tried to distract herself from the lady by looking down at her notebook and jotting some ideas down.
Suddenly, Prachi's concentration was broken as she heard the same Indian lady screaming at the hotel staff and particularly at Diya, "WHO THE HELL DO YOU MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE DEALING WITH? DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I was last month's model of the month! I am Anjali Nagpuri! I am dating the OWNER of the freaking HOTEL! I said I want the suite next to my boyfriend! Get it for me NOW!"
"Yes, m'am...." stuttered a clearly scared Diya.
In a fit of rage, Anjali flipped her hair back and walked into the elevator.
Diya, visibly stressed, walked over to Prachi, "Wow, Pari, that lady scared the living daylights out of me! Did you see the skanky outfit she was wearing? My mother would kill me if she ever saw me in something like that!"
Prachi laughed, "Yes, mine too! Don't worry Diya, you handled that situation fine. Just ignore people like her. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with her again, but if you do, just keep your cool."
Diya smiled, "Thanks for the advice Pari. Hopefully her and our owner just stay cooped up in their hotel suites. Although I haven't met him, I hear he's a pretty scary guy too."
Suddenly, Amrit, one of the other managers walked up to Prachi and Diya. He was huffing and puffing as he made his way to the two ladies. "Hi Pari. Hi Diya. I just came from the top floor. One of our owners just arrived and he is up in his office."
Diya laughed, "Yes and we just met his insane girlfriend in the lobby."
Amrit chuckled, "He came in from the secret back entrance, while his girlfriend came from the front. He apparently does not want anyone to know of this hotel inauguration till the end of the week, when the hotel officially opens. I just met him."
"Well?" questioned Diya.
"Well what?" asked Amrit.
"Is he as scary as we all have heard he is?" she asked.
Amrit looked Diya right in the eyes and responded, "Scarier."
Prachi sighed. So did Diya. This didn't sound so good.
"Oh I almost forgot," spoke Amrit, as he shifted to look directly at Prachi, "He wants to see you."
"WHAT?!" asked Prachi, "Me?"
"What?!" repeated Diya, "Her?"
"Yea," spoke Amrit, "He said he wanted to discuss some matters with our pretty event planner Pari."
"Did he actually say pretty event planner Pari or are you making that up?" laughed Prachi.
"No," spoke Amrit, "he said exactly that. He told me to tell our pretty event planner Pari to come up to his office. He said he had a few things to discuss with you."
Prachi gulped. Now she was scared.
"Oh no, Pari," laughed Diya, "Good luck!"
Prachi looked at Diya, and tried to feign a smile, but even Diya could tell she was scared.
"Don't worry," assured Amrit, "just avoid eye contact and answer simply by saying 'yes sir'."
All three of them couldn't help but laugh.
"Well," sighed Prachi, "I guess I better go meet with him. See you all in a little while, if I am still alive."
"Don't worry Pari," yelled Diya from behind her, as Prachi walked into the elevator, "He can't possibly be any scarier than his monster girlfriend!"
