Recap: Milind and Prachi come face-to-face.
Part 34:
Prachi held back tears while staring at the man in front of her. She was not going to cry. No matter what. She was not going to cry. Simply staring at Milind's stone-like expression, Prachi knew that he hadn't expected to see her here. He was as shocked as she was.
Before any of them had any real chance to say anything, Deepak Suman walked up to Milind, and told him that it was time to start the press conference. Milind turned around and nodded at Deepak, indicating agreement. He quickly turned back around to glance at the woman who has left him so cruelly six months ago. He looked left and right. Prachi was gone.
Anger boiled up inside Milind. He rushed towards the hotel lobby, knowing for sure that she was trying to escape yet again. Without paying any heed to the people waiting for him to start the conference, he bolted towards the hotel doors. As soon as he stepped out, he caught sight of a car driving away. "DAMN IT!" yelled Milind as he pounded his fist against the wall. Yet again, the woman was gone.

Prachi finally let her tears stream down her face as she sat in the company car, and made her way back towards the wedding where Aryan and Suhana were. The driver glanced at her and asked if she was okay.
"I'm fine. My head just hurts," she whimpered, lying.
Soon enough, Prachi stopped crying, in an attempt to strengthen her resolve. Who cares if she saw Milind Mishra? He had moved on with his life and she was moving on as well! "He and Ayesha are probably married by now," she thought to herself.
As she arrived at Gujral House for the sangeet, Prachi was back to normal. No more fretting over stupid things. No more thoughts of Milind Mishra. She was no longer that weak, doe-eyed Prachi Shah, who trusted everyone and could be fooled by anyone. She had spent six months making a new life for herself and she was not going to let anyone take that away from her. Prachi confidently entered the sangeet party, which was already in full bloom by the time she arrived. All the guests were starting to come in and the music was loud and energizing.
Prachi instantly spotted Aryan who was talking to a waiter. Aryan noticed her too, and instantly stopped his conversation, and gravitated towards her. "There's my Pari!" he beamed.
"Hi Aryan! How's everything going here? The dcor looks wonderful"
"Thanks to your highly detailed list Pari! Where would I be without you? You make my life so complete!" he grinned.
"Gosh Aryan! Stop it! You're cheesy pick-up lines haven't worked on me yet, and the sure won't work any time soon either" she laughed.
Aryan was glad to see Pari in a happy mood. Whenever she laughed, it seemed like she lit up the room. Her smile always brought a smile to his face too.
"Is there anything you want me to do Aryan?" asked Prachi.
"Well everything is being taken care of my sweet lady," he chuckled, "the only thing left to do is to make sure that the kitchen is handling all of the dishes properly."
"I can do that," answered Prachi eagerly.
"Thanks Pari!"
Prachi giggled at Aryan's genuine sincerity, "No problem boss!"

Prachi was sure that all of the surprises that the day had in store for her were over. Little did she know.
Prachi had just finished her observations of the kitchen. Everything was going perfectly and the dishes were being made exquisitely and professionally.
Prachi stepped back into the main foyer, where the party was in full swing. She noticed Suhana flirting with a lean, tall man, whose back was towards Prachi. She knew that Aryan hated the fact that Suhana got distracted so easily, and immediately knew that she should help Suhana to avoid Aryan getting angry. Not wasting a second, Prachi walked up to Suhana and whispered, "Suhana, we need to do our job."
Suhana looked at Prachi and pouted loudly, "Well Aryan never gives me attention. At least, Neev was!" Saying her piece, Suhana instantly trudged off towards Aryan.
Prachi froze in her spot, "Neev?" she asked, although it was not meant to be said aloud. The name slipped from her mouth. It could not be…
"Prachi," she heard a voice whisper from behind her.
She slowly turned around, hearing that all-familiar voice.
Prachi and Neev Shergill came face-to-face.
Not wasting a second, Neev hugged his childhood friend.
"Neev, what are you doing here?" she asked with a smile on her face.
"Prachi!" Neev responded, his enthusiasm quickly turning into anger, "Where did you disappear to? Do you have ANY idea how much we looked for you?"
Prachi didn't want to cause a scene, especially in front of her boss and co-worker. She took Neev's hand in walked into a secluded room nearby.
"Listen, Neev," she spoke, "I had to leave. You know why."
"NO Prachi. What you did wasn't right."
Prachi let out an exasperated sigh, "Neev, PLEASE. The past is in the past. We have to move on. I don't want to talk about any of that. I am not that same stupid girl anymore."
"Prachi," stressed Neev, "you need to understand…what you thought about Milind."
"Milind?" screamed Prachi, repulsed at even the mere mention of that man's name, "I don't care about him or his affairs. Neev, you of all people should now that he's a scumbag. Please Neev, I don't want to rehash the past."
"Prachi," spoke a frustrated Neev, "try to understand, please. I am here at my cousin Anamika's wedding. Her mother is my massi. I am here with Milind. We are business partners. He isn't what.."
Enough was enough. Even Neev had become Milind's ally. Prachi interrupted Neev, and harshly spoke to him, forgetting the past relationship they once shared, "Well Neev, if you are here with Milind, then we really don't have anything to say to each other. I don't need to waste my time here with you any longer."
Neev was shocked. He could not believe that Prachi has talked to him with such spite in her tone. He watched her as she turned away from him and walked towards, surprisingly Aryan Malhotra, the man who Neev had met a couple hours ago.
Neev silently observed the interactions between the two and was surprised to see at how friendly there were. He saw Prachi saying something to Aryan and then heading towards the door.
Neev quickly rushed out to stop his friend, and to convince her to stay and reconnect with him. However, when he got outside, she was already gone. Still, Neev was not discontent; he now knew that Prachi lived in Delhi and had some sort of connection to Aryan Malhotra. Tracking Prachi down would not be too difficult.

It was midnight when Neev arrived back at the apartment. He was surprised to see that Milind had never come back to the sangeet after he had left for the press conference. He had seen on television, Deepak Suman taking back his previous statements and deciding to go through with the hotel project. Neev knew, of course, that this must have been Milind's doing.
Neev had tried calling Milind several times, but Milind had not answered. Neev had finally concluded that Milind was busy with some office work.
However, when Neev got back to the apartment he was surprised to see that Milind was not typing away furiously on his laptop nor reading through stacks of papers, as he has expected he would be doing. Rather, Milind was sitting in a large chair, and staring out the window. Milind has a bottle of whisky beside him, and a glass in his hand. He'd clearly been drinking.
"Milind, are you okay?" asked a concerned Neev.
"Why wouldn't I be?" retorted Milind.
Neev did not think now was a good time to mention that he had seen Prachi. Little did he know, however, that Milind had seen her too.
"She doesn't control me anymore. I can think of things other than her. She doesn't have any affect one me anymore. I hate her," mumbled Milind.
Neev clearly knew who Milind was talking about, "Milind…" Neev tried saying, but was interrupted as Milind threw the bottle of alcohol on the tiled floor, shattering the bottle into pieces.
"I HATE HER!" he yelled, louder than before. "I saw her Neev, I saw Prachi. I never thought I would have to see that two-faced bitch again!" he screamed.
"I saw Prachi too. But she's not a two-faced…" spoke Neev slowly.
"WHAT?" asked a shocked Milind, interrupting what Neev was about to say. He rose from his seat, "What did she tell you?"
Neev was hesitant to tell Milind the truth, but knew he couldn't keep matters quiet for long. "She said she wanted to leave the past in the past. I think she was at the sangeet with Aryan Malhotra."
Milind let out a laugh, and Neev found this very odd. Milind kept laughing.
"Umm…Milind, are you okay?"
"Never been better Neev. I've never been better. It all makes sense now. She was at the sangeet with that Malhotra loser and at the press conference, which was also run by Malhotra. She works for him! Well, maybe my revenge won't take as long as I thought it was going to take."
"Revenge?" asked Neev, visibly concerned with the state-of-mind Milind was in right now.
"She ruined my life. Now it's my turn," responded Milind slowly, as he started outside the nearby window.
Without saying a word, Milind made his way into his bedroom to get some sleep.
Neev simply stood there trying to comprehend what was going on. Milind wanted to destroy Prachi? Neev hoped that Milind wasn't serious. He was, after all, drunk right now. Milind would surely think straight in the morning, and not say such stupid things when the effect of booze wore off. Right now, Milind must not have been serious….right?
A confused Neev walked into his own room, but found it hard to sleep.
