Actor Sooraj Thapar has not yet got over his meeting with ace Pakistani comedian Omar Sharif. Thapar, who stars currently in Kayamath and Kasuati Zindagi Kay, recently got an opportunity to meet the acclaimed comedian and actor when Sharif was visiting India through their common friend Raju Shrivastav. One can just imagine what a jolly good time the three must have had!
Sooraj and Omar Sharif apparently got on really well and were in high spirits. "It was an amazing experience to meet such a talented man. At first he hadn't recognized me, but suddenly he remembered me from my show Hum Saath Aath Hain and hugged me. He said I appeared very different without the Punjabi look and the turban on my head which is why I was surprised that he recognized me!"
Incidentally Sooraj Thapar's first play Kisse Keh Rahe Hon two decades back was the Hindi translation of Omar Sharif's play. But what ultimately thrilled him was when Omar Sharif said Sooraj could go ahead and adopt, translate and enact any of his plays without his permission. "I am touched he gave me the permission to do any of his plays. I consider them brilliant and it would be an honour to enact any more of his plays. He is a very down to earth person and I think I was fortunate to meet him", concludes Sooraj.
