Admirers galore :Jay Bhanushali (TOI Photo) |
He's cute, he's cheeky and he's smart. That's Jay Bhanushali aka Neev of a popular TV soap. Ask him where does his charm lie and pat comes a cheeky reply: My smile! In fact, Ekta (Kapoor) too fell for my smile. But that's not Jay's claim to fame. We've also seen him in quite a few ads besides a serial for kids - Dhoom Machale Dhoom . In town to promote his new serial, this Mumbaikar says he got into acting quite by chance.
I never plan anything and was just having fun doing ad films when I was offered this serial which I took up and trust me, I'm having a blast here too, says he.
So, how much of Jay do we see in Neev? Neev is exactly what I am in real life. There's not even one per cent difference between me and my character on screen. In real life too I am just as flirtatious and mischievous," says Jay.
And it's no surprise then that Jay has a huge fan following with several communities dedicated to him on Orkut and his own account having more than 23,000 scraps.
Ask him if he ever reads these messages sent to him by his fans and he replies in the affirmative. Yes, in spite of my busy schedule I do make it a point to read the scraps posted on the site. It's nice to read what my fans have written for me.
But fame has its flip side too as Jay informs us: There is also a 'I hate Neev' community on Orkut which has all sorts of nasty comments about me. So how does he react to that? I take it in my stride. I'm not affected by it, says Jay nonchalantly. However, there's one thing that Jay finds very disconcerting. Ever since he started doing this role people stopped calling him Jay.
People just call me Neev. It seems everybody has forgotten my real name. But tell him that it shows how convincingly he plays the character and you can see him beaming with happiness.
Interestingly, this happy-go-lucky guy refuses to plan for his future.
I don't plan anything in life. I take each day as it comes. I am doing quite a few ads and as far as movies are concerned, let's see. I want to do movies but I'm just waiting for some good offers to come my way. I am in no hurry.
Strange as it may sound, Jay laments the lack of a girlfriend in his life. Yaar! I am single and very much ready to mingle but no girl falls for me. Girls flirt with me all the time, but no one seems to fall for me. So what does he want his girl to look like? I like girls with cute dimples, beautiful eyes and who are simple. I don't like girls who use make-up.
Natural beauty is so very appealing. And here's a word of caution for all the young ladies out there - Jay hates attitude. I can't stand girls who have attitude. My girl has to be comfortable with herself. She should be cheerful and easy to get along with, says this Capricornian whose birthday is celebrated by the whole world on the 25th of December.
