Negative comes naturally: Madhura Naik

After portraying several negative roles in Kayamath, Bidaai and Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil, Madhura Naik will be seen in a completely new avatar in Shakuntala (Star One), in which she will play a positive character. But nonetheless, she says she loves playing negative more.

"I've played negative characters in many of the Balaji shows, like Kayamath and Kis Des. I simply enjoy playing them more because the negative comes out so naturally for me," says the bad girl.
Madhura will be playing Prince Dushyant's sister. She tells us, "I am playing Princess Gauri who is Dushyant's sister. I can't reveal much but I can tell you that it will be a parallel lead and she will also have a love track."

According to the actress, one of the main reasons to take up the show was because she wanted to learn about the love story of Shakuntala. She says, "I don't know anything about Shakuntala, I've just heard her name… to know better about her, I decided to take up this show. And apart from that, obviously I love experimenting about things and this was something new."

However, she has other reasons as well. She says, "It's completely different from what I've been doing. I am not scared; excited, actually."

Madhura tells us that she was approached to play the role of Shakuntala few months ago but couldn't as she was busy doing two shows. She adds, "I was busy with Kayamath but when I realized that it will positively shut down by March, I took up this."

She makes it clear that her look in the show is not mythological but more like Jodha's. She tells us, "Shakuntala is not a mythological but a period drama. My look is very similar to that of Aishwarya's in Jodha-Akbar. The jewellery, the lehenga is just like hers."

Madhura will be entering the show tonight.
