J...when you grow too big too fast...you put your leg is everything and forget what brought you to the top!! Ekta has to go back to her roots and reinvent her strategy and business objectives...or come with new ones to take the business in the right direction...i think her strategy(Whatever it was) did not work....

Sumu...then there will a huge case against ekta from the Star...this is considered star's intellectual property as they paid for her to produce it...she can't take it and put it in her own channel that easily.... Just answering from a business perspective...as our company just went thru this with one of our clients...

I too agree...apart from the legal aspect of it...i don't think its Ekta's suggestion to pull the shows in the first place....the channel has decided to end the shows. As far as i've read ...Ekta was against the ending of her three long running shows. Maybe Ekta's next move might be to start a new channel...good luck to her but i do hope when she starts a new channel that she'll also start it with new shows that are not following the stale old Saas-Bahu methods. It was only last year that Ekta proudly claimed that Saas-Bahu trends will not end and still have market...i think the Indian viewers are prooving her wrong. The majority of the shows doing well today are focused on young "made-for-each-other" love stories or are mythical. Those few trend breakers are focused on social issues. So she better have had a change of mind...and i think she does...but she is the one who also wrote off reality shows as the flavor of the season and then ended up producing one [tho a very crappy one] herself.

Ok before you start reading, I must warn you, its a super-long post!!! 😆 I couldn't help it, just went off on a rant!!! 😆😆😆

I myself think Ekta is a very smart business-woman with the capability to reach to the top again. Problem with her is all her serials have become downright predictable... I mean after the initial storyline, they all seem to borrow/and/copy tracks and screenplay methods from other serials... Even her reality show and mythological show isn't spared from these methods (like for the fact that after a big truth is revealed, they show 10 million closeups of all the actors with big loud music in the background)

This is where she needs to re-invent herself, also she should try different execution methods - Maybe, spice it up - Instead of telling a story in a linear way, she could adopt another screenplay method entirely (she tried something different in one episode of Kis Desh and it made the otherwise mundane storyline look much more interesting)...

Also her stories -while they're interesting in the beginning, but then it loses focus - and the show becomes stale and repetitive... Why? Because showing the same thing again and again gets boring and illogical.. Like take Kyunki, even when Tulsi is a grandmother, they're showing her and Mihir's seperation and re-unison... Who cares??? And at this point is it really appropriate to show such a track??? Why would they show such a track??? Just because Tulsi & Mihir are leads??? Ahh there....

It is this overfocus on the stories of the leads in the expense of credibility. logic, and the rest of the cast which I think has led to the downfall of Kyunki and her other family shows. I mean Ekta does not know how to manage a multi-cast series, the characters are well-definted in the beginning but slowly fizzle out. This is one area where Bidaai & BV score a point - they know how to manage a multi-cast show with each character given an intriguing storyline. With Ekta, after the first few weeks, she fails to take advantage of the talent she has @ her disposal... For example look @ Kyunki... I don't understand or get the point of a "3rd generation" when there storylines and characters are hardly explored and even if its explored, it usually becomes all about Tulsi or the lead in question, instead of the characters itself (overfocus on leads as I said)... I mean, had these characters been utilized well, then Kyunki would still be running succesfully I'm sure because the audience instead of appreciating three four characters would love the full cast. So Ekta should concentrate on re-inventing her storylines to become more comprehensive and wholesome.

In case of romantic shows like KYM, Kasturi, KYPH - The serials are interesting till the leads fall in love, but after it it becomes a big mess. Again over here the problem is Ekta keeps showing the storyline of both the couples breaking up and making up, & that too at the expense of the character consistency - It harrows back to my previous point of repetitive storylines even when it doesn't seem to be like a credible and logical direction to take, such as incase of this convoluted leap track in KYM.

Because of this it seems as if the storyline is moving around in circles, and the characters who we thought we knew, suddenly do some very out of character things for the sole purpose of advancing the plot. The biggest drawback of this is that, it makes the audience question the love of the couple in question. I mean when the couples in question reach a stage where they mouth off dialogues on how they'll be with each other forever, still break up like they did before over extremely flimsy and unconvincing excuses, their love ends up looking as weak, unconvincing and unreliable. And this problem could be solved if the storylines in question show the progress of the couples & the different types of problems they face AFTER they fall in love, you know instead of the usual seperating and reuniting routine employed by most of her shows. (Somewhat like KumKum)

Ekta has the brains and the resources to re-invent herself and rise back to the top, but unfortunately these virtues are also accompanied by Ekta's huge ego. All her resources and business accumen wont help, unless and until she acknowledges she has made some mistakes, and only then can she improve on it. Because right now it seems as if she thinks her serials are flawless.

I really like Ekta she's struggled hard to reach where she is today no great entrepreneur never saw a fall everyone does so has she. But the thing is that it's the ability to pick yourself up and start afresh that distinguishes a winner. She's got a lot of potential and I'm sure she'll be back in the saddle soon.

Its so strange that when Ekta was on the top these journos used to sing praises about her talent and now just because few serials of hers r not doing too well, the same journos r criticizng her😆...

With due respect to other shows,I would like to see the serials which r getting high trps right now, will they b able to sustain the same trps after 6-7 yrs like Ekta's Kyunki or her other long running soaps including Kayamath😊

Perfectly said, Sonia! *clicks Agree button*😆....Agree with each and every word! Especially Kekta being unable to handle multi-cast series/characters....and getting too caught up in rehashing the same nonsense over and over again....her characters never seem to mature or grow over time😕....they are stagnant and at the same level even after generation leaps and reaching 80+ years in age! How is that possible??😕😆.....Like you said, this is where Bidaai and BV score huge points since they are able to manage multi-character storylines in a very entertaining way....something I haven't seen on TV in quite a while!

I wouldn't really ever write off Kekta though cuz the woman does have smarts....and the creativity as well....it's just all gotten lost in the ego and the business aspect of her empire....she needs to go back to the drawing board and try to remember how she first created the iconic characters and stories that laster 5-8 years on TV....I think she is a very sharp woman and does indeed have the capability to re-invent herself.....it all depends on when she realizes that she NEEDS to re-invent herself....Re-inventing is NOT making a saas-bahu version of Mahabharat, Ekta!😆

Thnks for sharing!!
It's quite funny when I read that Kejriwal smiles and says, "But she's only 32 and people want to pull her down and comment on whether she should do this or do that".
I believe Ekta knows very well what she has to do and always try to do it to a degree of perfection, especially when it comes to the daily soaps!!! She'll definitely come up with some new strategies and win the whole population's heart!!! Keep doing the good work Ekta!!!
