‘I prefer reality shows’ - Article

Jay Bhanushali became a household name after he essayed the role of the charming boy next-door Neev in Kayamath.

From someone who played the male lead, he was later sidelined and eventually he left the show. The actor confesses that he's "a lazy guy when it comes to work. Ekta Kapoor spotted me and gave me break. I thank her for everything."
But now that he's not doing the show, it also means, Jay is "jobless at the moment and looking for work. To be precise, good work."

Having starred in two reality shows Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, Jay feels that reality shows are about 'real emotions'. "Reality shows are not scripted but then drama is needed to boost TRPs. And this drama is always created," admits Jay.

So does he mean to say that reality shows have more drama than saas-bahu sagas? "Definitely. I prefer reality shows since I relate to them and they give an actor instant fame and are very lucrative," says this 23-year old Mumbaiite. "After Kayamath only few people knew me, but after Jhalak... people have finally started recognising me," he says. Is Jay a better dancer or an actor? "I am fine doing whatever the audience expects me to do. I should get my bread and butter," he says.

Recently he said 'no' to Ekta Kapoor's Kahaani Hamaray Mahabharat Kii on 9X because he was not comfortable. "I can't play a role that has me playing someone very senior. I want to play someone my own age," he says.

It is pretty obvious that he prefers reality shows, but I have some advice and I'm speaking this only in Jays best interests, that he shouldn't appear in too many reality shows, as he'll end up getting over-exposed... and a time will come when he'll be known as a reality show star, acting in a daily soap, instead of another way round....

Though I like the fact that he's pretty honest!!! Good going Jay!!!
