I was watching some old videos in the process of culling out scenes for my mixes. These only served to remind me of who is Prachi and what does her love for Milind stand for. Let me list out the scenes which stuck out for me.
1. Water fall scene - Prachi tells Milind that even if she leaves him she can never form a relationship with any one else.
2.Divorce scene - She tells Milind that what was the point of holding on to a relationship which was worship for her but not even a necessity for him.
3.NP engagement scene - Prachi cuts her fingers to avoid getting engaged to Neev.
4.Falling down the stairs scene - Apart from the fact that this scene established the extent she will go to ensure Milsi's safety, this scene also showed Milsi's reaction to it. He says that the minute her eyes closed his breathe stopped.
5.Returning to Malli's house - She yells at her husband that she hates him and is heart broken to realise how much he is hurt by her statement. She could not leave him like that. She rushes to Mallika's house to see him for one last time and assure herself he is OK.
Given all this how can she agree to even fake marry another man? How can a woman for whom her love for her husband is worship tell another man he is her life? How can a woman who could not stand to even get engaged to her childhood love for the sake of her husband who was suffering from memory loss, now accept another man as her husband, real or fake, and that too for eternity? How can a woman who put her husband's well being and happiness above all else let her husband think she is dead, especially when the husband is question has already made it known to her that when her eyes closed his breath stopped? Would he not have died hearing of her death? Should she not have tried to find out what became of him? For a woman who had the urge to check on him for yelling at him, is it not strange that she has not tried to find out about how he was taking the news of her death?
If the answer to all these questions is that her maternal feelings took over her, I find that hard to believe. The day she stepped out of the house, she knew she was pregnant. This means she was willing to face the world alone as a single parent. Then why does she suddenly need some one else's support to raise the child? Granted she has always had a sheltered life and has never had to work her way through but then there are many people like her who are thrown in the storms of life and who sustain and overcome the challenges, who become resilient but never give up on their principles and what they believe in.
Why is it that a show, which is being produced by a woman and one of whose creative heads is herself a woman, has to show women in such poor light. They can't take shelter in the argument that they are showing these stuff for the housewives. I wonder how many housewives sit till 11.00 p.m. to watch such stuff. Even if they do, I don't think any housewife will condone such behaviour.
The only argument which I can accept is if she is staying back not for her son's sake but out of some moral duty towards Proteek. Maybe Proteek has saved her life in the blast and in the process lost his wife. So out of a sense of gratitude and duty she could have agreed to be his son's mother. Had he not saved her, her son would have been wiped out along with her and that is something she could not stand as he is the symbol of Michi love, which to her is still worship. That still does not excuse her not informing her husband she is alive but atleast it would not portray her in as bad light as otherwise.
Agreed this would create serious problems when Milsi arrives. Initially she may push him away thinking Mallika is still after his life. Once she is assured he is safe, her sense of duty to this family may be another hurdle. At such a time, I want her to choose her husband unequivocally. There should not be any hesitancy on her part. That is the only way she can redeem herself.and prove that her husband and her son come first for her. She cannot deprive the right of her son to be with his father especially when it becomes clear that the father's life is no longer in threat, the reason for which she left him in the first place. Until then I guess Prachi will continue to be an enigma.
