In his first-ever media interaction on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 2 at Film City, Goregaon, last night, anchor Amitabh Bachchan took the hot seat with Computerji as a silent witness.

"Main to sirf naukri kar raha hoon yahan," he intones in his deep baritone among the trademark blue flashlights on the sets. In a black suit with a mauve shirt and tie, he says he wears what the designers Shantanu-Nikhil tell him. "I just do whatever I am told to do on the show. "Meri toh naukri hai….bas."

Yesterday, he shot for two episodes back-to-back. Fatigue is unheard of in his scheme of things. "How do I manage everything? I really don't know but I am able to do it. That's it."

As the contestants walked out of the studio, the glee on their faces was palpable. They had won varying amounts but the fact that they had interacted with Amitabh Bachchan was something to discuss at length.

"I don't get irritated at all when participants tell me to relate dialogues or ask me how is Jayaji? I am there to make them comfortable. If that's what makes them happy, I do it for them."

The Big B sees KBC as an opportunity to interact with people from all over the country.

"What I speak in a single episode of KBC is probably what I speak in a whole year! I treat them the same way as I would greet my guests at home."

He says that when the participant sits on the hot seat, the only thing that he sees in their eyes "is money, lots of money. There is so much of human psychology at work. You know you have to get your answers right and win a huge amount." What the star anchor really marvels at is the logistics of the show.

"If you see KBC's control room, you will know what I mean. There are so many complicated things, the intricate control panels are a nightmare to decipher.

Then there are the questions to be framed, the participants, the phone calls and the audience. There are so many aspects to it. I really wonder how Siddharth Basu (director) manages to do it. He is the real hero of the show."

The fact that Bachchan is the face seen from every commercial and film does not bother him.

"Overexposure is not what worries me; I am worried about exposure."The new season of KBC does not have him mouth any new lingo. "Now how can I say afsos ye galat jawab or Computerji in a new way," he reasons.

And he would not like his family to be on the quiz show. "I have to follow certain rules too."

Devgan on KBC 2

Bollywood will make its presence felt on KBC 2 in a big way. Post the appearance of Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta last week, the next star to be on the hot seat is Ajay Devgan.

"Ajay will soon be on KBC 2," informs Samir Nair, COO, Star India. "After Ajay we will have John Abraham and Bipasha Basu," adds Nair. The amount won by the stars are donated to charities of their choice.
