First Look: Shah Rukh at Madame Tussauds

Reader Hasmukh Joshi saw this massive Shah Rukh Khan banner in London.

SRK is going to visit Madame Tussauds in the first week of April to inaugurate his waxwork, which explains this huge SRK banner draped over the Madame Tussauds building in Baker Street.

Report: SRK at Madame Tussauds

Hasmukh was pleasantly surprised and felt a proud moment as all the people gathered were looking at the hoarding of King Khan.

Shah Rukh invites children from the Cancer Association.

Shah Rukh has some very special guests that he personally invited to the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati – kids from the Cancer Association. A group of children attended the recording of tonight's episode and also got to meet the star. From clicking photographs with SRK to singing for him, the children had a fun filled day.

Arriving on the sets in the morning, they first met Khan who had gifts for each of them. Thereafter they all decided to sing for him. It surely was a moving moment for everyone present to see the innocent kids put up smiles on seeing Khan even though many of them were quite unwell. Khan himself seemed very emotional at the end of the meeting.

Thereafter they were taken to the floors to enjoy the recording. Shah Rukh says this is a very special show for him. "I was very happy to have these children here. If I have given them a reason to smile then I consider myself blessed. But more than them I consider myself to be a happy man today. I pray to Allah that they all recover very fast and continue to live healthy fulfilling lives," says Khan who has a huge fan following amongst children.

At the end of the day all the children seemed very satisfied as they got to see their favourite actor in person. Here's hoping the smile on their faces never fades...

Munnabhai effect on Kaun Banega Crorepati

MUMBAI: The Munnabhai effect will hit television screens on 29 March 2007, with Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani occupying the celeb hot seats on Star Plus' game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Dutt will try some of his popular Munnabhai frolics, including trying to slide on an earphone to aid him with an answer, and getting caught by the host for the same, and trying to consult with imaginary Mahatma.

The episode will also rope in 'Circuit' Arshad Warsi, as the duo call him on the 'phone a friend' option, just to fool him by saying they are stuck on the final question worth Rs 20 million (Rs two crore).

Dutt will demonstrate his talent of 'air guitaring' and Irani will croon "We are the world" at the host's requests during the course of the episode, says a release.

Mumbai: The flurry of questions will stop at least for now as the sometimes controversial season one of Kaun Banega Crorepati with King Khan as host goes on a break.

After giving massages to tense contestants to expensive Tag Hauer watches to those losing on the hot seat to cars to all, the magnamous Shah Rukh Khan will miss playing dost (friend) to the contestants and mouthing those one-liners.

"I will miss saying kachha-pakka (sure or not). I will miss saying 'let's play Kaun Banega Crorepati'," says he.

The show has also been SRK's window to some reality - at least that's what he claims.

"Because of the show, I met so many people. I got in touch with reality and because of that my acting will become better," says King Khan.

SRK's duties as KBC host invited contant comparisons to previous host Amitabh Bachchan and the TRPs of the show fell dramatically. Despite this, the host dost will be back for the second season of KBC soon - or at least that's what he is hoping for.

'I caught Sanju cheating!'

On KBC3, that is. Shah Rukh Khan tells all about tonight's special episode with Dutt and Boman Irani

In tonight's episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3, Sanjay 'Munnabhai' Dutt will hold fort along with Boman Irani.

Apparently, the duo won Rs 50 lakh on the show.

Sanju donated to Support and Cancer Patients AIDS Association while Boman gave to Don Bosco Shelter in Wadala and Welfare For Stray Dogs.

Shah Rukh Khan tells all on what to watch out for on the hotseat.

How come Sanjay and Boman for tonight's show?

In Action: Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani in KBC 3
It's a Munnabhai special, though I have taken pains to ensure it's not too much of that.

I think it's been done to death — the tapori-isms etc. Sanju is a good friend and it's good fun having friends on the show.

He had earlier told me, 'Whenever you want Shah, I will come on the show for you'. Boman was always keen to come on KBC3.

His mom is a big fan and insisted that he come. We wanted Arshad to complete the act, but he is in London shooting.

Sanju's not known to be a quiz expert. Were you surprised when they won a lot of money?

I was pleasantly surprised. Though we do have easy questions for celebrities (since they donate their prize money to charity) we didn't expect them to win so much.

They were really good. But then I had figured out in the test run that Sanju would be good. He came up with answers to the strangest questions! I guess his experiences in life have taught him that.

Do you remember anything interesting that he did?

Lots of things. Sanju played the air guitar while Boman sang We Are The World in various voices! I was surprised to know that Sanju's very good at playing the air guitar.

He had even won a gold medal when he was studying in USA. Air guitar is different from actually playing the guitar. It looks like as if you are playing the guitar in the air. It's quite difficult as it looks very real and you have to act as if you are really playing it.

Do you know how to play the guitar?

No. I tried for some time to learn but I couldn't. But my son Aryan is learning.

How long have you known Sanju?

I have known him for more than 15 years. We are good friends. I remember an incident with him way back in 1992, when I was new to Mumbai and would get into a lot of fights with journalists.

During one such fight with a certain journalist, Sanju came to know about it and called me over to his home to sort it out. I felt very touched as I didn't know too many people and he had been there for me.

We had gone out in his jeep and talked through the night about our moms.

Then again we met in Mauritius while he was shooting for Aatish and I was shooting for Zamana Deewana. Since then, we have become good friends.

Do you remember his dad, Sunil Dutt?

Of course. The first time I met him was at a hospital at 2 am. The gentleman whom I had bought my first apartment from (in Bandra) had been beaten up by goons and was hospitalised. Dutt saab knew him too and had dropped in to meet him.

He was very nice, warm and helpful. Since then, we met on and off at shoots and events. He was very fond of me. When he expired, I was in London undergoing treatment for my back. When he was sports minister, I had wanted him to do something for soccer.

We had spoken about it. I always had this dream to build an Indian soccer league — a great team, a sports stadium, sponsors, etc. Nike was in India then, so I was very keen.

Did you catch Sanju cheating?

Yes! He was copying the answers from somewhere like Munnabhai did in the film!

Have you watched both the Munnabhai films?

No. I haven't. Now that I have a break coming up in April, I plan to catch up on watching both of them.

KBC a moneyspinner

Excerpt of Article

KBC gets a replacement

Priyanka Joshi / New Delhi March 27, 2007

ENTERTAINMENT:
Fox Production will debut on Star Plus with a musical to fill the gap left by SRK.

With Shahrukh Khan's moneyspinner Kaun Banega Crorepati's (KBC's) season coming to an end on April 19, Star Plus will be looking to cover up it's weekday prime time band of 9-10 pm with two new family dramas. A channel that refrains religiously from experimenting with serial formats, it hopes to hit gold with its new primetime line-up — albeit in the genre of family dramas.

KBC BID ADIEU

Hold your breath Star TV's most successful show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) will be soon off the screen, Reason? Well Shah Rukh Khan's contract for the 40 episodes ends on this Wednesday i.e., 28th March 2007 but viewers don't loose heart as King Khan has signed a contract with Star TV till 2008, hence KBC will be back by the end of the year or perhaps by the early 2008.

Shah Rukh looked quite contended at the end of the last episode. He said, "Till now I had only interacted with the elite people but KBC gave me the opportunity to be among the middle class of India and the episode also taught me a lesson that all are not my fans there are few who even dislike me, like the strict school teacher who was so stern that after quitting she did not had a hug with me as was the usual custom. Nevertheless I respected her decision."

SRK was so found of the contestant that after the show many contestants even had business plans! Confirming the news Shah Rukh says, "Yeah its true many contestants came so close to me that they even kept a chunk of the winning amount to have business with me and have been contacting my secretary for the same. Many have e-mailed me their proposals but I have no time to go through them yet. Nevertheless I will seriously look in to these proposals".

KBC season one ends

Aneesha Baig
Wednesday, March 28, 2007: (Mumbai):

It's the end of Shah Rukh Khan's first season as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, a position he took over from the Big B.

After 52 episodes SRK looks back at how doing the show has been a defining moment for him. Shahrukh says it has been quite an emotional ride for him.

"I'm feeling very bad. I'm going to miss coming to the sets, I'm going to miss the whole team," said Khan.

He might be Bollywood's biggest superstar but he proved that he could be humble as well, which is all credit for the success of the show. Khan says he goes to meet people behind the scenes.

So, with season two still to come the crore rupee question is what new gimmicks is King Khan likely to serve up.
