Today's episode was beautiful because for me it was all about rebuilding broken relationships.
Neerjaji and her broken relationship with her sons - I don't know the full story though I hope they reveal it soon, but basically her sons left her in an old age home and forgot about her. She lies to protect them, pretends that everything is okay, but she is broken from inside. All her joking and laughter is all a facade for the pain she holds within. And slowly, but surely both Aarav and Katha are seeing that pain. Today, the way Aarav noticed the crying and still accepted Neerjaji's excuse was sweet. Over time, Aarav and Katha will become Neerjaji's new family.
Gerewal family - The Gerewal couple are such a sweet departure from typical patriarch and matriarch you see on TV. Either they are these old, wisdom imparting, Gujju elders or they are the angry businessman type who sit at home but pretend to run a big business (on TV). These 2 are so realistic. And I love how Mr. Gerewal listened to his wife and now is thinking realistically about making a change in his relationship with Yuvraj.
Katha and Viaan - I left these 2 to the end because I have so much to say! Their relationship started with hate. A hate that arose from a desperation that led Katha to accept an indecent proposal and Viaan to take it all the way through before realizing he was becoming like his father. And that kaali raat will in a way always hang over their relationship until both realize that the other is moving on over it. Viaan has become almost like a kid, always trying to please Katha, unsure of himself around her, over-explaining his every move and decision because he doesn't want her to take it in the wrong way again. And Katha has gotten over her hate for Viaan to respecting him and caring, but without any of the typical ITV drama.
Today, their high five was so cute and natural. And then the awkwardness from realizing that they had that high five. These 2 have a natural chemistry that shines in moments like these. But for me the highlight was Viaan over-explaining the car battery dying while Katha was simply asking why he did such a foolish thing. Thank you CVs for not giving us some stupid reason for the car dying. Haath jodh kar thank you karti hoon.
Tomorrow will be rather interesting. Both of them, in a room, again. I wonder how they will get over the awkwardness and make it a friendly discussion.
