I guess that's why I resonated with that outfit- since I am short and I look short in everything 🤣🤣

to be honest, I was surprised by the baby pink blazer and pants but not for reasons you might think -- recently my cousin sister was complaining about how expensive these formal western wear is. she wanted to get a blazer for her pre-teen daughter and the jacket alone was really expensive. then if you add in matching skirt or pants, then it pushed up the price even more.

formal western wear can be limited to more high-end retail. so my cousin sister decided it simply wasn't worth it because she could a few outfits for that same price and went for just a top and skirt (mix and match) at a mid-price retail. so you could possibly get it cheaper if you stitch the blazer but even then I don't see too many women going to stitch blazers.

one, it is way too hot here to wear blazers. even men don't wear blazers unless it is some formal board meeting type or a posh wedding. otherwise, it is formal dress shirt even for men at work. so not many invest in blazers.

thats why I was surprised to see her in a matching set... I was thinking to myself -- she has cash to invest in blazer??? since aarav was sick, I would have expected her to go for more affordable clothing that she can just pick up at any mid-point retail.....

Actually this is true. I live outside India and even here, matching blazer and pants set is extremely expensive. I was impressed with that baby pink set that Katha wore in Dubai; it seemed like one of the most put together outfits she had worn throughout the show.

nabni -- you mention of jhumkas reminded of the jimmiki kamal song. when it came out few years ago, it was at every function that people would dance to it. 😆 but yea, jhumkas are so much fun to wear.

I found this cute and funny -- 2 generations dancing together. 😆

that reminds me, was anyone else disappointed that we didn't see them shaking a leg at this party? I am realizing that I have watched too many sitara serials. 🤣 I was totally expecting to see aarav at least dance with his cousins on stage. 😂

hahaha... so this is stuff I just picked up from watching makeover shows. not a natural fashionista. 🤣

so that shirt was fine for shopping because no one is going to be dressed in their best. but looking at it objectively, vertical stripes can be great if the length is shorter. if you notice she looks taller when she has tucked in her shirt. especially for shorter folks, that is a great tip.

basically by tucking it in, you accentuate the waist, define your bust and elongate the legs. it is all about visual perception. so that shape immediately gives you a few inches in perception. now, because the stripes short went all the way to her knees, it just made it obvious how small her legs were below knees. hence, making her look shorter.

your eye is naturally drawn to print first and the plain colour will fade into background. so one tip is to wear printed bottoms and shorter plain tops. or more brighter bottoms in comparison to the top. so naturally your eyes are drawn to the bottom and making your legs look longer.

another style tip, wearing knee length or shorter kurtis is better -- again, it is about making your legs look longer. in this case, the print of the fabric did the reverse for her. also, it was rather loose cut -- great for shopping - but it also did make her look like she was swimming in it and hence shorter.

so if you pay attention to cut, the way fabric falls and drapes, the print of the fabric -- there are ways to look taller (provided you have great posture). basically it is all about how the eye perceives.

Thanks for sharing the link dear.

Such a cute video ❤️

Even I love watching old people dancing and enjoying their lives. In my family you will find such oldies on the dance floor. 😆

amra -- because I am bored, passing on another style tip from a makeover show.

if you ever go sari shopping, pick a sari with a small border if you are on the shorter side. something like this. basically the body should look longer thus making you look taller.

ILKAL HANDLOOM SILK BY COTTON SMALL CHECKS BHOOMI BORDER SAREES - Silkal.in

if you are taller, then you can go for big border saris, which reduces the body and thus making you look smaller.

Ishin Green Cotton Saree Price in India - Buy Ishin Green Cotton Saree Online at Snapdeal | Saree designs, Designer sarees online shopping, Party wear sarees

outside india, people are more into plain fabrics but within india, we are so much into prints and embroidery. and so depending on your body shape and height, that is something you really need to pay attention to because print can impact how you look as well. basically it is all about cheating the eye to give a certain visual -- this is what I picked up from makeover shows

twinklestar: as you can see it has an indian flavour but there is a mix of western in terms of the bottom. there will be a wide variety of prints. even if it is mono colour, in terms of tailoring cut, the kurti has a distinct style as opposed to a dress shirt. as I told you, the length can vary.

maybe it is the weather, but many people do like indowestern wear for the convenience. basically it is a mix and match -- so you just pair up any top with any bottom you have have. it is not one unified set like a salwar set. also no dupatta!

I always wear this type in my off8ce.Looks good also .very comfortable
