The last 2 parts have now become 3 parts!! Hence here is the first of the set. The 2nd one will be posted tomorrow and the last one on Sunday. Hope you like them.

PART - 29 That night Robbie and Kasturi do not get a wink of sleep. Kasturi is very tensed. Does not know what will happen. What her Dad is going to say. How her Mom will react? Will they consider her as having disgraced them? Robbie on the other hand is pretty sure that Kasturi's dad will not accept him and so he will be well-prepared for the consequences.
Morning arrives. Kasturi quickly gets ready. She does not eat anything as her stomach is churning. At sharp 9.00 AM the door bell will ring. Kasturi will sit on her bed unable to move. Ajay will open the door and is shocked to see Robbie.
Robbie (smiling) : Hello Ajay. Kaise hai aap?
Ajay : Mei accha hun! Aap kaise hai?
Robbie : Good. Andar aa sakta hun?
Ajay : Haan...haan, please.
He makes way for Robbie. Robbie walks into the room to find JP, Dadaji and Vishesh sitting in the drawing room reading the morning newspaper. Beeji and Alka chachi sitting at the dining table and drinking tea, while Kaushalya is in the kitchen. He does not see Kasturi anywhere. Everyone looks at Robbie with shock. He was least expected! There is an awkward silence in the room. After a few moments Beeji comes forward and says
Beeji : Arre Robbie beta, tum??
Robbie (touching her feet) : Namaste Beeji!
Beeji : Jeeta rah, puttar! Aaj idhar kaa raasta kaise bhool gaye?
Kasturi cannot sit in the room anymore and so slowly walks out and stands at the top of the stairs watching what is happening below.
Robbie : Woh....bas aap sabse milne kaa mann kiyaa. Aur (looking at JP) mujhe bauji se kuch baat bhi karni thi.
JP (getting up) : Lekin, mujhe tumse koi baat nahi karni!
Robbie (turning to JP) : Bauji......please
JP (raising his voice) : Mujhe bauji MAT kaho!!
Kasturi closes her eyes. It has started to go downhill!!! Kaushalya also closes her eyes for a moment. Her husband is getting ready to insult the man because of whom he has a job. But Robbie does not mind at all. He knows that it is going to get worse.
Robbie : I am sorry........Uncle, bas meri baat ek baar suniye. Mei kayi dinon se aapse milna chahta tha aur aapse maafi maangna chahta tha.
Alka : WAH!!! Bhai Wah!, Daad deni padegi tumhaare himmat ki, Robbie Sabharwal!! Jo chaha kiyaa aur ab muh uthakar chale aaye 'Sorry' kehne??
Dadaji : Yeh himmat nahi Alka, Ahankar hai! Ghamand hai! Tum soch rahe honge, "meine maafi maang liyaa, yahi in logon ke liye bahut hai. Maaf toh inhe karna padega!!"
JP : Aur mei jaanta hun ke itnaa ghamand tumhe kya dekhkar hai.
Robbie : Aap mujhe galat samajh rahe hai.
JP : Nahi, maine tumhe bahut acchi tarah se samjha!!! Paisewaale ho, issliye tumhe baaki sab log zameen par rengte hue keede ki tarah lagte hai.
Everybody is watching them. Kasturi, with bated breath!
Robbie : Uncle, please. Meine jo aapke saath kiyaa woh bahut galat tha, maafi ke kaabil nahi.....
Dadaji : Oye, CHUP! Jab jaante ho, maafi ke kaabil nahi toh phir aaye kyun ho? Barson se kamaai hui izzat, ek jhatke mei mitti mei mil gayi. Saari biraadari mei naak kat gayi, Kisi ko muh dikhaane ke laayak nahi rahe!!! Aur tum isse galti kehte ho? Woh tumhaare liye galti hogi, lekin hamaare liye gunaah hai!!
Beeji : Suniye....
Dadaji (looking at her) : Tu chup kar.
Beeji feels hurt.
Robbie : Dadaji, Theek hai, gunaah tha. Lekin ab mei prayashchit karnaa chahta hun....
Alka : PRAYASHCHIT!!!! (laughs hysterically), tumhaare muh se yeh sab baatein acchi nahi lagti! Aur mujhe samajh mei nahi aata, tumhe prayashchit karne ki zaroorat kya hai? Kasturi kya maaine rakhti hai tumhaare liye? Arre tumhaare liye toh saikdon ladkiyaan maujood hai, jo tumhaare raaton ko rangeen karne ke liye tayyar hai.
Kaushalya : ALKA!
Alka : Aap chup rahiye, bhabhi!
Robbie : Chachi ji, Kasturi ko issme mat ghaseetiye! Uski koi galati nahi. Aapko kuch kehna hai toh mujhe kahiye.
Kasturi cannot control her tears. She is very hurt that her family is behaving so rude with Robbie and are not even giving him a chance to explain and talk.
Alka : Oyhoyhoyhoy!! Phir shuru ho gayi aashiqui! Kasturi iss ghar ki beti hai, tujhse zyaada hum usse jaante hai! Mujhe mat bataa Kasturi ke baare mei!
JP : Ab in sab baaton ka koi matlab nahi, accha hoga tum yahaan se chale jao aur phir kabhi mat aana.
Robbie : Nahi uncle, please! Bas ek baar mujhe maaf kar deejiye.......
Dadaji : Tum jaise aadmi ko maaf nahi kiyaa jaa sakta. Tumhaari koi neeyat nahi!! Tum ek awaara aur bad-mijaaz raiszaade ho.
Alka : Yeh aapne sahi kahaa Bauji! Iski bad-chalani ki misaal pichle hafte hi dekha tha hamne raaste pe. Pataa nahi kahaan kahaan muh maarta phirta hai aur na jaane kitne bacche hai!!! Tumhaara toh muh dekhne se hi hamaara dharam bhrasht ho jaaye !!! Ab niklo! Accha hoga tum fauran yahaan se chale jaao, varnaa dhakke marke baahar nikalvaaungi!!!
Kasturi : Dhakke maarne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai. Hum khudh hi chale jaayenge!
Robbie turns to see Kasturi. Kasturi is standing near the stairs. She is wearing the orange saree that he had bought for her birthday. She is wearing her mangalsutra out and has sindoor in her maang. They look at each other. She wants to apologize to him. Those were some very hurtful words that Alka chachi had spoken and Kasturi could not subject Robbie to such talk anymore. Robbie is questioning her with his eyes -"Tum neeche kyun aayi?" But Kasturi's eyes only have tears in them. Everyone else in the house are staring at Kasturi, shocked beyond words. By now Tanu, Navneet, Kikoo and Pooja have also assembled there.
Alka (staring at her mangalsutra) : Kya matlab hai tera? Tu kyun jaayegi?
Kasturi (walking towards Robbie and standing next to him) : Kyon ki patni ka sthan apne pati ke saath hota hai aur yeh mere pati hai!
There is pin drop silence in the room. As her words sink into everyone's brain, reactions start to appear. Kaushalya and Beeji are happy! That is there instant reaction! They look at each other with happiness in their eyes. Huge smiles decorate Tanu, Navneet and Kikoo's faces and they look at each other with excitement. Ajay is perplexed. Dadaji just plops down on his chair shocked. Fierce anger is building up in Alka! And JP is shell-shocked. He is just staring at RK!!!!
Robbie (holding Kasturi's hand) : Yeh sach hai. Hamne dedh mahine pehle shaadi kar li.
Kasturi is staring at her mom and dad. She sees a smile on her Mom's face and is relieved. But her Dad, he is expressionless and just staring into vaccum. Kasturi knows she has hurt him very much. She tries to go near him
Kasturi : Bauji........
Alka (blocking her path) : Karam jali!!! Teri yeh himmat!!! Tune bhaag ke shaadi ki!!!! Tujhe hum sab se zyaada, iss launde ki fikr thi??? Tere mei thodi si bhi sharam hai ke nahi???
And raises her hand to hit Kasturi but Robbie stops her and hurls her hand away.
Robbie : Aap Kasturi ko na chooye toh accha hoga!!!
Alka is mad with anger and screams looking at Vishesh
Alka : Dekh kya rahe hai? Nikaaliye iss kamine ko ghar se!!!
"Apni Zubaan ko lagaan de, Alka!!!!!" thunders a voice from behind. Everybody turns to see. It is buaji!!! (the other old lady in the house..... this lady is Dadaji's older sister. JP and Vishesh's bua. She was widowed at a very young age and since then has been living with Dadaji's family.)
Buaji : Yeh mat bhool ke tu iss ghar ke damaad se baat kar rahi hai!!!!
RK look at each other and then at Buaji. Alka is shocked and looking at Vishesh for support.
Buaji (warning Vishesh) : Aur Vishesh, agar iss ladhke ko haat lagaaya toh mujhse buraa koi nahi hoga!!!
She walks to Dadaji.
Buaji : Chote, tujhe sharm nahin aandi? Ghar aaye mehmaan ko tune baithne ko bhi nahi kahaa aur shuru ho gayaa uspe illzaam lagaane? Tu aisa toh nahi tha kabhi. Phir aaj kya ho gayaa? Tujhe iss ladke ke bure kaam yaad hai, acche kaam nahi? Isine tere bade bete ki jaan ek nahi do-do baar bachaayi! Ilaaj karaake aur aag se bachaake. Nahi toh teraa betaa kab kaa bhagwaan ko pyaara ho jaata. Yeh yaad nahi tujhe?
Dadaji's eyes are downcast. She walks to JP.
Buaji : Jab teraa honewaala damaad itna kameena nikala, toh isi ladhke ne teri badi beti ki zindagi bachaai thi. Nahi toh uss kameene ke haath, dahej ke liye, teri beti bhi kab ki mar chuki hoti!!! Woh ehsaan yaad nahi tujhe?
JP : Buaji.....
Buaji : CHUP!!!!! Jo maa-baap, bacchon ko samajhakar, unhe sahi raasta dikhaane ke bajaay, gair-zimmedaar hokar jeher peeke marnaa chahe, aise murkhon ke muh se mei ek shabd nahi sunanaa chahti!!!
JP hangs his head down.
Dadaji : Badi Didi.......
Buaji (looking at dadaji) : Ghar ke bade hone ke naate, teraa farz yeh tha ki bacchon ki bhalai ke baare mei soche, ultaa tu khud Kasturi kaa jeevan barbaad karne chala. Uski shaadi ek saath saal ke buddhe se karne ko raazi ho gayaa? Aise aadmi ke muh se mei ek shabd nahi sunanaa chahti!!
Buaji (walking over to vishesh) : Jise, sagge bhai se zyaada paison se pyaar ho aur jo biwi ko hadd me naa rakh sake, woh muh naa hi khole toh accha hai!!
She turns towards Robbie
Buaji : Tu kis se maafi maang rahaa hai, puttar? Yeh log tujhe maaf karne ke laayak nahi hai. Yeh toh tere se bhi gaye guzare hai. (looking at dadaji) Iss ladhke mei neeyat hai! Isiliye yahaan waapas aaya, hum se aashirwaad lene. Nahi toh Kasturi ko bhagaa ke le jaata, aur peeche mudhke bhi nahi dekhtaa. Iss ladhke ne jo bhi galti ki, Kasturi se shaadi karke, uss galti ko sudhaar liyaa hai .
She walks towards RK. She removes a chain from her neck and puts it around Kasturi's neck.
Buaji : Kasturi puttar, isske alaava, mere paas kuch nahi hai tujhe dene ke liye.......
Kasturi is overcome with emotion and hugs her intensely, crying. Robbie flexes his hands. He cannot bear to see Kasturi cry her heart out. Buaji calms Kasturi down and says
Buaji : Puttar, kisi aur ka aashirwaad tumhe mile naa mile, meraa aashirwaad hamesha tera saath hai! Jaa beta, yeh ghar ab tere rehne laayak nahi! Tu apne pati ke saath jaa aur meri yahi dua hai ke tum donon ka jeevan hamesha Kasturi ki tarah meheke.
RK bend down to touch her feet and take her blessings. K looks up towards her mother. Her mother is crying and smiling simultaneously. She looks at Beeji, Beeji is also crying. She raises both her hands and blesses her from there itself. Kasturi looks at Ajay. Ajay is smiling and his eyes are wishing her Good Luck! Kasturi looks up to see her sisters and Kikoo. Kikoo and Navneet break into a bhangra dance step grinning like crazy while Tanu gives the thumbs up sign to Kasturi with a huge smile on her face. Kasturi then looks at her dad and dadaji. Both of them are not looking at her. Robbie squeezes Kasturi's hand, his eyes asking her if she is ready? Kasturi nods her head and Robbie & Kasturi turn and walkout of the house.
RK reach the car and Kasturi turns back to look at her house. Nobody has come out to even wave her goodbye. She is very sad. Robbie notices this and says
R : Kasturi, peeche mudhte rahenge, toh aage kabhi nahi jaa paayenge!
Kasturi nods her head and sits in the car. They drive out. Kasturi is quiet throughout the drive. She is feeling very low and several thoughts are crossing her mind. She is upset that her family humiliated Robbie, she is upset that she hurt her dad, she is upset that they did not give her aashirwad and she is worried sick about what will happen in the SS mansion. She reaches out and touches R's hand that is on the steering. She wants to apologize to him, but the
words don't seem to come out. Robbie holds her hand and kisses it and reassures her with his eyes that everything will be fine.
The reason why nobody had come out, in the Chawla house was because Buaji had resumed knocking sense into the senior Chawlas.
Buaji : Kaushalya, tune jo baat mujhe aur teri saas ko bataayi thi, ab waqt aa gayaa hai tu usse apne pati ko bataa de.
Kaushalya had shared with them the fact of how Robbie has helped them. She now tells the same to the entire house. JP is shocked and so is Dadaji!!!! Dadaji goes to his room and he is followed by Beeji. JP goes to his room and Kaushalya follows him and tries hard to change his mind about Robbie. JP does not respond at all.
Meanwhile RK drive down to SS mansion, R parks the car and they walk up the stairs to the front door nervous and tensed. They have just about reached the front door, when Nandini and Neela are stepping out of the door as they are going out.
Nandini stops in her tracks seeing RK. She looks at Kasturi, at her mangalstura, at her sindoor and at Robbie's hand which is holding Kasturi's. Then she looks at Robbie and sees how happy he is. She understands the whole situation and calls out
Nandini : Ramu, aarti ki thali tayaar karo!
Neela who has been looking at RK with a wide smile on her face says
Neela : Maa ji, Mai tayyar karti hun!
And she leaves and Nandjini says
Nandini : Ramu, ghar mei sabse jaake kehdo ke hall mei aa jaaye. Lekin badi maalkin ko disturb mat karnaa.
Ramu leaves.
Nandini : Robbie, mei bataa nahi sakti aaj kitni khush hun! Iss din kaa mujhe kab se intezaar tha! (and tears fill her eyes).
Robbie hugs Nandini and says
Robbie : Aunty, aap ke sahaare ke binaa, yeh din meri zindagi mei kabhi nahi aata! Thanks a lot!
Divya is the first one to come into the hall. She sees RK standing at the door and sees Kasturi and screams
Divya : OMG, KASTURI!!!!!!!
And she runs to Kasturi and stops right in front of her and stares at both. Then she rushes forward and hugs Kasturi with such affection that Kasturi cannot help but smile and reciprocate.
Divya : OMG, mujhe yakeen hi nahi ho rahaa!!!
Robbie : Arre, yahaan koi aur bhi khada hai, uss se gale nahi milogi?
And opens his arms for Divya. She hugs Robbie. Her eyes are filled with tears and then she looks at Robbie and says
Divya : Bhaiyya, Heartiest Congratulations!!!!
Robbie wipes her tears off and thanks her. Divya looks at Kasturi and says
Divya : Bhabhi, aapko bhi and a HUGE welcome!!!!
And while this is going on Raunak enters the hall and sees RK and a broad smile spreads on his face. He quickly walks to them and first embraces Robbie with a lot of warmth. Nandini's eyes are filled with happiness to see them both together.
Raunak : Yaar, kab se tum donon ka intezaar kar rahaa tha. Badi der lagaa di!!!!
And they hug again and Raunak welcomes Kasturi too. He holds her hand and says
Raunak : Kasturi, yahi dua hai ki tum donon ki zindagi mei kabhi koi gam nahi aaye.
Puru and Dushyant are not home. They had gone for their Sunday morning golf game. Nikhil and Alaana are out of town . So Nandini, Neela and Divya do the aarti. RK come in and Robbie immediately goes upstairs along with Kasturi to his Mom's room. He makes Kasturi wait outside, while he goes in to check on his Mom. Devika has recovered quite well and is relaxing on her bed, reading a book.
Robbie : Good morning, Mom!
Devika looks up from the book and smiles at him.
Devika : Good morning, Son.
Robbie goes to her and kisses her forehead and sits on the bed.
Devika : Kya baat hai, aaj bahut khush lag rahe ho!
Robbie (surprised) : Aap ko kaise pataa chal gayaa?
Devika : Son, maa hun tumhaari and it helps to notice that your eyes are dancing with happiness.
Robbie : Mom, mei aapko aaj ek bahut badaa surprise dena chahta hun. Mujhe umeed hai aapko bahut khushi hogi.
He walks out of the room and comes back into the room, this time holding Kasturi's hand.
Robbie : Mom, aapki bahu.
Devika almost drops her book. To say she is flabbergasted is an understatement. She is staring at Kasturi and Robbie and then again Kasturi. She does not know what to say. Robbie is looking the happiest she has ever seen him and Kasturi is looking all nervous and tensed. In that one moment she realizes that any attempts to separate them would be futile! She realizes that they are destined to be life partners!!! All the tricks she played did not stop them from getting married!! She slowly gets up from her bed and walks towards them. She looks into Kasturi's eyes and sees the honesty and nervousness. Kasturi is desperate to know if she has a place in this household. Devika says
Devika : Kasturi, apni saas se aashirwaad nahi logi?(Guys, remember that is the dialog she uses the first time she finds out about RK?)
The tears that Kasturi has been holding in her eyes start to flow now. Robbie is super happy!!! They both bend down and take her blessings. Devika lifts them, hugs Kasturi and says
Devika : Mere bete ki zindagi mei waapas aayi ho, isska bahut bahut shukriya!
Then she hugs Robbie and wishes him the best. While Devika is happy, there is something within her that is eating her heart out. The fact that she was the one who did not let RK come together in the first place will rankle her no end!!Meanwhile Raunak has called his dad and told him about RK. Puru and Dushyant stop their game in the middle and head home. RK will be sitting in the hall and telling the story of how they got married. Everyone is shocked that Raunak and Neela knew all along!! Kasturi cannot help but notice that the welcome she received in this house was in stark contrast to what had happened with Robbie in her house. While they are thus talking, Puru and Dushyant arrive. Dushyant hugs Robbie and says
Dushyant : Robbie beta, aaj tumne dil khush kar diyaa!!
RK take his blessings while Puru is watching with a lot of pride. Then Kasturi holds Robbie's hand and makes him walk along with her to Puru. She squeezes Robbie's hand and makes him also take aashirwad from his Dad. Robbie does not want to touch his Dad's feet but does it for Kasturi. Puru embraces Robbie and Robbie is surprised.
Puru : Beta, bataa nahi sakta, aaj mei kitnaa khush hun! Chahe pehle kitni bhi galtiyaan ki ho, lekin jeevan-saathi chunane mei tumne koi galti nahi ki!
Looking at K,
Puru : Beta, mujhe poora yakeen hai, tum mere bete ki zindagi khushiyon se bhar dogi.
Kasturi looks at them happily and thinks, whatever gap is between them, I will try my best to bridge it.
