I'm back! As per requests I shall now have re-caps prior to the whole chapter! 😃 and I shall make my chapters ultra long so that you can enjoy the stories even more! Lolz okies, enough of that now let me get straight to story… enjoy folks! Re-cap: Abishek ji tries to comfort his fianc, however Kasturi realises she's been keeping her emotions (about Mukti, the taunts from college and from work) in for too long and has a huge outburst. Adi realises his feelings for Kasturi are changing… At the hospital Kasturi realises that someone has cleared the bills for Muktis' operation. She 'meets' Adi at the hospital unexpectedly… what'll happen now? GAME PLAY Set-back: Kasturi couldn't believe her eyes. Was it really Adi standing there? Or was it her imagination? What was Adi doing there? They both stood there in the dark and rooted to the spot, totally unaware of the panicked surroundings. They stared into each others eyes… 'What's he doing here? … Why is he staring at me like that? …' Silent questions like these ran through her mind… seconds flew by when Kasturi realised it was someone she *hated*… shaking out of her trance, "Tum?!" she said out loud.
Just then the lights went back on, she looked up to catch the bright light. People around her were still panicking, all they wanted to know was if their loved ones were ok or not. When she looked back to where Adi was standing he had disappeared! "Huh?!" she let a whisper. 'Where did he go?' she asked herself, looking around her vicinity. Suddenly she felt a hand on the back of her shoulder, "Adi?" she asked as she spun around to see who it was. It was Abhishek ji. He didn't seem too happy hearing that name, it was evident as his face fell at the sound of it. "Adi?" he asked in concern. "Oh Abhishek, Abhi abhi to woh yaha the! I don't understand where he could've gone!" replied Kasturi bewildered. "Kaun? You mean Adi? Him here?" asked Abhishek ji even more confused. Kasturi nodded. "He was here! I don't where he went. I mean he was right here!!" she replied.
Abhishek ji looked around, "There's no one here Kasturi. I think you must have been imagining things. You're very tired after all… Chalo, I think you can see Mukti in the morning. First I'll take you home so you can get some rest" he said. Kasturi shook her head indicating no, however Abhishek ji wouldn't have any of it. "Bus Kasturi! You'll see her in the morning! I'll come and stay with her. Lets go home now! You really need your rest" he said in a final tone. Accepting defeat Kasturi followed him out. A couple of meters away, there was somebody watching them… Adi stood there careful not to blow his cover. What was he doing there? Well God only knew…
Back at the flat, Kasturi realised she was kackered. She couldn't even move anymore. As Kasturi walked towards the bedroom parting, she almost tripped. Abhishek ji caught her. He stared at her tired face, caressing her cheeks he smiled at her. She managed a small smile back. He lifted her up and carried her all the way to the bed. He placed her softly on the mattress and tucked her in. Kasturi was too tired to even reply and as soon as she hit the mattress, her eyes closed allowing her to finally get some well-deserved sleep. Abhishek ji sat next to her on the bed and watched her sleep. She looked so beautiful and at peace while she slept. He couldn't wait to marry her. He was so glad to have found someone like her as his life partner. He smiled at her and moved away strands of her hair from her face. He got up to leave, as he had to stay by Muktis' bed- a promise he had to keep.
10 minutes later, once he had checked everything was safe and locked he left for the hospital.
Set-back: Adi is back at home. He's in his room doing some deep thinking, when somebody interrupts him. Adi paced up and down his room. He couldn't stop thinking about the events that happened that day. Flashbacks of Kasturi entering the classroom so late…her face etched with worry… how she had cried… she had fainted and had fallen in his arms…even if it was for a few seconds. The more he thought about it, the more he got annoyed about it. As the scenes replayed in his mind his anger came to a point where he punched the wall! The impact had left his knuckles all red… he knew he'd have to bandage it because sooner or later it would turn into a blue/black bruise. He didn't care about the pain, in fact all he wanted to do was hate Kasturi but his heart was telling him otherwise. He just didn't know what was happening. "I can't love her damn it!" he growled to himself. "I just can't!!". Things weren't right. All he wanted to do was hate her more than anything in the world. She definitely wasn't his type, he knew that for sure. But why on earth did he feel such strong emotions around her. He was so confused. A part of him wanted her all for himself and another part of him wanted to throw her far away so he wouldn't have to keep thinking about her. Nothing made sense. He couldn't possibly be in love could he? What about…?
"ADI!!!" yelled a woman's voice. Adi jumped and stood back in surprise as he realised it was Shivani who had entered the room. "Shivani tum?! How on earth did you get here without anybody seeing you?" he asked worriedly rushing to the door. It was well past midnight and everyone seemed to have had an early night as he popped his head outside to check if anyone was lurking around. Closing the door he rushed back in to face Shivani, who was glaring back at him. She glowed in room's dim light. Her lace-white nightdress made her skin look silky smooth. Her golden-brown hair had been tied back into a bun with a white crocodile clip. She looked as if she was ready to go to bed, but what on earth was she doing here in his room asked Adi to himself.
"I've been here for the past 10 minutes calling you but you NEVER opened the damn door!" she hissed in anger. "Oh really now?!" mocked Adi. He was in no mood to take any attitude from Shivani-definitely not today! "Just in case you haven't realised, it's well past mid-night and I don't open *MY* door to *STRANGERS*" he stressed in the same I-couldn't-care-less tone. Shivani's mouth dropped in shock and anger "How dare you!" She growled, raising her hand to slap him. But before she could even reach his face, Adi had already grabbed her hand and twisted it, making her turn around. She winced in pain. "No one slaps me! You understand that?!" he whispered dangerously, his other hand caressing her cheek. "Hah! What nonsense! You let that witch Kasturi, slap you" gritted Shivani. He was way too strong and she realised there was no point struggling as her hand (that Adi held on to so strongly) would only hurt even more.
He pushed her to the bed… "She'll get what's coming to her! You don't worry about that!" He replied bending over her in that same dangerous voice. With that… Shivani let Adi take hold of her…
Set-back: Next morning, Kasturi is already at the hospital. She's made her way to Mukti's ward to see how Mukti's doing. As Kasturi entered the room, she noticed Abhishek ji sitting there next to Mukti's bed. The poor thing had dozed off. She was glad she had packed some fresh fruit and coffee. She went up to Abhishek ji and shook him gently to awake him. As he opened his eyes, he realised where he was. "Oh my God, I dozed off without realising!" He whispered. Kasturi smiled and went up to the bed table to place the stuff she had brought. She turned to Mukti who lay peacefully asleep, and caressed her head. "Did she wake up?" she whispered. Abhishek ji shook his head. She smiled again and poured him some coffee from the bottle she had brought with her. "Here have some fresh coffee." She said. He took it from and sipped it… she saw him making a face. "Kya hua? Didn't like it?" she asked him in concern. "Hmmm… who made it?!" he asked. "Maine" replied Kasturi. "No wonder it tastes horrible!" he said. Kasturi's face fell. Abhishek ji smiled and said, "I'm only joking! It's the best coffee I've had in a long time!".
Kasturi giggled, which woke up Mukti. Kasturi gasped, "Oh my God Mukti I'm so sorry. We woke you up!" she said. Mukti smiled weakly. "It's ok! I needed to wake up. How are you two?" she said in a fragile voice. "How are you feeling Mukti?" asked Abhishek ji. "I'm feeling fine, just tired." She replied. Kasturi smiled. "I missed you!" she said. There they spent a good three hours sitting and chatting. Mukti indeed did seem fine, a few days more rest and then she'd be back to normal, thought Abhishek ji to himself. He saw Kasturi talking animatedly to Mukti. He felt happy, finally his fianc to be was laughing in days.
"Aare! I just remembered! I need to go get your medication!" said Kasturi. "Achcha, I'll let you two talk for a bit and I'll go to the pharmacy! Ok?" she continued. "Are you sure? I can go instead!" asked Abhishek ji. Kasturi shook her head, "Nahi Nahi ji! I'll go. You stay and have some rest." She replied firmly.
She walked out of the room and made her way to the pharmacy, on her way back she heard her name called out from behind. "Kasturi?". Kasturi stopped in her tracks and spun around to face Devika maam. "Maam, aap yaha?" asked Kasturi. She was confused, it was evident on her face. To clear her confusions or concerns Devika ji started to talk, "Kasturi, I heard about what happened to your friend… and I was very sorry to hear that"...
Hearing this, all thoughts began to run through Kasturi's mind, when it hit her! Devika maam! It was her that must've paid the pending money for Mukti's operation. No one she knew was rich enough to pay such a large sum of money in one go. Happiness and relief spread through Kasturi. She finally knew who it was who had done. Devika maam was still talking when she noticed that Kasturi wasn't listening at all. "Kasturi?!" she called. Kasturi gave her the biggest smile and said "Maam, Thank you so much for paying Mukti's bills. I can't thank you enough. Please maam, tell me, what can I do for you in return?".
Devika looked at her puzzled. All this time she had been telling how she would like to help Kasturi but it seemed as if she was in her own world. She had made to correct Kasturi, when she heard her last line… "tell me what can I do for you in return…" Devika knew how things could work out, so she thought carefully before she said anything. "Dekho Kasturi, I help people without expecting nothing in return. And I did the same thing with you. Yes I paid the bills, but I didn't want you to know." Said Devika maam. Kasturi interjected her "Please maam, let me do anything for you. You don't know how much you helped me and I really want to do something in return." She said. Devika sighed. This was the moment where she had to choose her words extremely carefully, "Kasturi, you were one of my best employees. I know you had to leave under conditions that made it hard for you to work in. But that's ok and I completely understand that. Probably if I was in your place, I'd do the same thing. All I'm saying is that I'd be extremely grateful if you could come back to work for me. Because frankly speaking, I don't find anyone else capable for the job than you." Said Devika maam and waited for Kasturi's reply. She noticed that Kasturi was thinking deeply. The smile Kasturi had a few minutes ago had vanished. Had she said the right thing? Did she sound genuine enough? Devika knew she could put up an act, she had been doing so for the past 25 years of marriage so this was nothing compared to that.
Before Devika could say anything to persuade her furthermore, Kasturi had already spoken. "Maam, I would be glad to start work whenever you want me to come. After what you've done for me, maam I can do anything for you!"
Devika smiled. "Thank you Kasturi! I'm very happy you chose to do so." Kasturi smiled in return "No maam, thank you!" she said.
Devika smiled, when she suddenly realised she had somewhere to go. "Ok Kasturi, I have to go now. I just realised I had some work. If you could come to start work tonight would be brilliant. Are you going anytime soon? I mean you have college right?" she said hurriedly. "No problem maam, I can start work today. Aur haan, maam I do have college today but it's ok maam, I can go." Replied Kasturi.
"No No, come come. I can drop you, after all we're going in the same direction!" insisted Devika. Kasturi accepted her offer and rushed back to Mukti. Promising Mukti that she would be back the next day, Kasturi bid goodbye to both Abhishek ji and Mukti and left for college.
Set-back: Kasturi's at college. It was half day and her lesson was starting in approximately 20 minutes. As she made her way to class along the long corridor she could a couple screaming at the top of their voices. Who are they? "WHAT NONSENCE ADI!!!" Shivani screamed. Adi stood a foot away from her glaring at her all the while she bowled at him. Kasturi realised that something was up between them, but since it wasn't her business she made to walk away when she heard Adi lose his cool. "SHIVANI CHUP RAHO!!! I'M NOT HEARING ANYMORE OF YOUR BAKWAAS!!!" Adi yelled back. Kasturi was shocked. She had never seen him so angry. In fact seeing this side of him scared her. "BAKWAAS?!!! IS THAT WHAT IT IS?? BAKWAAS? THEN WHAT WAS LAST NIGHT ABOUT!?! HUH?!!" she yelled her eyes almost popping out with anger. Kritika, standing two feet away from the both of them and listening to all of it felt her stomach lurch with fury. 'last night?! Oh my GOD! My own sister… with Adi?!! The GUY *I* liked!!' she thought to herself as venom like jealousy coursed through. She didn't want to stay here one second longer. "TO HELL WITH YOU SIS!!!" screamed Kritika and stormed off. Shivani realised at what she had said and watched her sisters disappearing back with guilt. But before she could stop her Adi had yelled…
"OH COME OFF IT SWEETHEART!! LAST NIGHT WAS JUST A GAME!!YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE DON'T YOU? I MEAN TO PLAY AROUND?!!" he growled. Shivani's eyes widened. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Adi was going to let everyone know what had happened between them. She felt sick.
"What?! Embarrassed? Hurt?! Disappointed?!" He spat. "Oh come on now darling! Why should you feel anything. You're the one who broke us up after YOU FREAKING CHEATED ON ME!!!" He yelled back at her. "So I thought why not just get you back! And that's exactly what I did!" he gloated. Shivani was shocked. Tears stung her eyes as Adi spoke to her like this. She wanted to run up to him and shake him and slap so many times to make him see that nothing she ever did back then was intentional. Adi was breathing really hard as he stood there fists clenched. He still looked so handsome amidst his anger. He had chosen to be extremely casual opting for blue jeans, with a white t-shirt and red shirt on top of each other. "Adi…" she choked. "SHUTUP!" he spat. "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER WORD FROM YOU!!! WHAT I FELT FOR YOU HAS LONG GONE…" he yelled. He took a deep breath assessing her condition… she stood there heartbroken. There were tears now streaming across her golden face. Her baby blue top seemed crumpled. Her sweaty hands rested on her matching blue skirt. "You know what forget it!! It's pointless talking about this and to you… however if you ever want to spend another night like that… then I'm always up for it!" he said with a smirk on his face.
Kasturi stood there disgusted. She couldn't believe how crudely he had spoken to Shivani like that. The poor girl was in tears. Kasturi walked away when she realised she was being stared upon. She turned to where a pair of eyes was staring at her. She realised it was Adi. She mustered up the dirtiest look she could give him and walked off. "****!!" he swore. He had just noticed Kasturi leaving the circle of onlookers. He was so annoyed, that he wanted to go up to Kasturi and yell at her, that none of this was her business… Instead, all he could do was walk off to class.
Set-back: Kasturi has just finished class and is on her way to work as per Devika maams' request. How will her day back at work go for her? As she entered the humongous and beautiful hallway of the Sabbarawaal-Mehra mansion she was greeted by one of the butlers. "Good evening madam, come this way let me take you to Devika maam" said one of them and took her to Devika maam's study. Kasturi spent around an hour or so having a major briefing with Devika maam. As that ended, Kasturi walked out and made her way to her small office that had been appointed as hers to carry out the tasks she had been presented with.
As she walked along the beautifully lit corridor, she came face to face with Shivani. She looked a terrible state. Her eyes had swollen, she hadn't changed from the morning and her usually straight hair looked so rumpled and unkempt that it was hard to believe this was the gorgeous Shivani she had met the first day at college. "Shivani? Are you ok?" asked Kasturi timidly. "Oh shut up Kasturi!! I don't need your sympathy. You wanted this hain na?! Adi to go away from me?! You've begun to fall for him hain na?!" She said hysterically. Kasturi stepped back in shock. "Shivani?! What on earth are you saying?!! I'm getting engaged soon!! I don't like Adi at all! In fact I hate him!" exclaimed Kasturi. "Oh please! Stop lying!! I know you middle class people! Always wanting to trap young rich men! But I'm telling you! YOU stay away from him!! If not I'll KILL you!!" she shrieked raising a finger at Kasturi. Kasturi opened her mouth to say something but before she could Shivani had already gone… "Ajeeb log hain! Never listen to what you have to say!" said Kasturi to herself shaking her head and walked off. Soon she realised she was lost once again in this big mansion. She had come to a tiny staircase that led to goodness-knows-where. Frustrated she sat on the last step thinking about how on earth she could get to where she needed to go.
Suddenly out of no where, a big soft ball hit on the head from no where. Looking around puzzled Kasturi stood up. She heard giggles coming from a room to the right above the staircase. Picking up the ball, cautiously Kasturi made her way into the room she could hear the giggles coming from. She pushed open the door and entered a beautiful little room that looked like something out of a fairytale book. Kasturi's face shone with glee when she saw who the room belonged to. A beautiful little girl, sat on her four poster bed hugging her little teddy bear giggling all the while at Kasturi.
Kasturi smiled at her "This is yours?" she asked her throwing the soft ball back at her. The girl caught it still giggling and nodded. She motioned to Kasturi to come and sit next to her. Kasturi grinned, walked up to her and sat next to her on her bed. "A beautiful room!" said Kasturi with admiration. The whole room was in lavender and white. The fairy lights made the little girls' room look so extravagant. There were toys strewn across the floor. Kasturi turned to the little girl next to her and said, "What's your name?". The little girl gave her cutest smile that could melt any monsters heart. "Nahi bataongi!" she replied cheekily. Kasturi scrunched her face. "Kyun?" she asked. The girl giggled again, "because you're it!!" she yelled tagging her and running off. Kasturi gasped playfully "I'll catch you!" yelled Kasturi and ran after her trying to catch the girl. They ran around the room, but the girl was too quick for Kasturi and kept escaping her grasp. Both were having such a good time. Kasturi and the little girl where making so much noise and laughing as they ran around the room. The little girl managed to run out of the room. "Aare!! Wait!" called Kasturi as she ran out of the room following her. She was running blindly, when she bumped into a male figure. It was none other than Adi, himself who was helping Kasturi regain her balance. Kasturi stared at Adi... The next thing Kasturi heard was the little girl screaming with glee "Bhaiyya! Bhaiyya!" and hugging him from behind.
Adi turned to his precious little cousin grinning from ear to ear and picked her up. "Hey little Pragati…" he said kissing her on the cheek. Kasturi stood there shell-shocked staring at the both of them…
