Ok guys, I feel the forum is getting repetitive! How many agree with me???

Lets perk it up by creating topics that do not talk of RK union, separation, forgiving Robbie because we already have enough topics on these issues.... Sorry, I don't mean to stifle anybody's creative urge 😊. I apologize in advance.

Here's a topic that maybe different and hopefully you all will participate...........

Don't know how many of you watched DoorDarshan in the late 80s and early 90s (maybe some of you were not even born then!! Gosh, that statement makes me feel old 😕), but I totally miss it!

We had some serials that were given a slot of 13 episodes!!!! Anything that needed to be shown, had to be shown within those 13 episodes!!! As a result it was fast-paced, logical, taut and to the point! Granted that the sets, costumes were not that lavish and the general production quality of the shows was not that great but the performances of the cast more than made up for it!!!!
The drag on episodes of Kasturi this week and in general the current soaps, made me nostalgic about those serials.
Can you imagine anything now-a-days wrapped up/completed in 13 episodes??? Arre, it took more than 13 episodes to just build kasturi's character up!!!

Though I havent watched the 13 eppy series, But i heard abt them... But if iam given a choice between soaps like kasturi n 13 eppy serials, then i wud go for kasturi like soaps becos in 13 episode serials, they dont show any other things like small romanric moments or the fights. They just show may be a scene or 2 for every situation.
Hope u r getting wat iam trying to say...
But at the same i also dont prefer this 7 or 6 years loooooooooong running soaps either 😆 😉 😆

Oh yes Pragalbha, I totally agree and remember those days. Those soaps were also weekly soaps and not dailies like today. One had to wait for a whole week to see the next episode.
A few I really remember quite well are Kashish (Malvika Nanda and Sudesh Berry)- It was based on a Mills and Boon romance.
The other one was a Pallavi Joshi serial on women in the Indian Navy called Aarohan
There was this one called Pachpan khambe laal deewareinwhich marked the debut of Mita Vasisht and Aman Verma on the small screen and was a big hit.
Apart from these, there were Hum Log and Buniyaad which I saw when I was a young child with my gradnparents....
😛
Thank you for opening this post- very nostalgic.....and also a breather from the current ongoing sob saga in Kasturi... 😉
Please add more to this list...would be nice to remember the few I have missed.
Cheers,
Anjali

Performance related those soaps were too good.... though I've very faint memory as I was very young at that time but ya those days were good..... Instead of dailies they were weekly but in a way it was good ppl didn't waste so much of time and energy ponderin on those soaps like we do!!!!!!!!!

Very nice topic 👏 . The Doordarshan era was fantastic.... even though they were 13 epsiode serials...they were so memorable, never remembered them when they came 1st...but the re-run on DD metro was a boon.
Lovely shows esp kashish, Farman, fauji, Circus. Even Surabhi, Turning Point, Discovery of India were fantastic shows... the quality of their content has never been matched even after so many channels and the huge amout of money invested in them.

OMG, I loved those serials!! I was a school-going kid at that time, but still could watch them, they were that decent!!!

Some others were Ek kahani, Trishna (based on Pride and Prejudice) and lets not forget Malgudi days!, Chunauti with Channa Ruparel and Arif Zakaria (he was such a heart throb at that time !!!) And do you remember Udaan - the story of a lady IPS officer???? I still remember how inspired I was by that serial!!!! I don't remember the actress name..... it was Kavita something and Shekhar Kapoor. I was so totally fida on Shekhar Kapoor at that time!!!!

That definitely felt great to remember those old days 😊.

And guys, thank you so much for replying to my post!!!! When I was writing this topic I was like, will anybody reply to this (?) , maybe nobody will even know what Doordarshan is!!! I was feeling very antiquated 😕.

I feel relieved now!!! 😃. Thanks a bunch!

nice topic pragalbha.. 😊

well here in my country we get lots of serials be it from dd and mostly zee channel...

i did watch fauji, circus and so many serials...i think i was 12 when i watched fauji and circus..therewere so many serials like "sans"of neena gupta and also i did watched"swabhimaan"

first ekta serial i watched was "kundali" and it was wrapped very quickly i must say..really liked this serial.of course there was "hum paanch"now of course ksbkbt is so much popular here and now we getting to watch her other show "kavyanjali"...

yes at first these serials were wrapped in a few epi like you said in a 13 episodes..but now the intro of the characters take at least 13 epi forthe true story to unfold..i think it will be impossible to wrap a serial in so much epi now... these serials with their lavish sets and costumes and storyline have made the telly industry big and have touched the audiences heart. ekta serial in 13 epi hmmmmmmm"scratching head"will we audience want it to be wrapped in 13 epi cos once we are hooked to itor appreciate the leads the first thing we want is that it never ends well for me personally. 😊
