Only two female leads of Balaji's ongoing shows, Shweta Tiwari (Prerna of Kasautii) and Smriti Iraani (Tulsi of Kyunki), are married with children. And just when we thought that Ekta Kapoor only prefers casting unmarried girls in lead roles for her shows, HiTLIST has learned that her latest discovery Shubhangi Poorey (who plays the title role of Kasturi) is married with an 18-month old daughter, Ashi.
Maid of honour
Our source from the unit reveals that Shubhangi's baby daughter was seen on the sets a few days ago. When we speak to Shubhangi about her, she does not beat round the bush. "Yes, I'm married, and I also have a daughter," she admits.
As long as Shubhangi is on the sets, Shubhangi's husband, Piyush (who is on leave from work), looks after Ashi. Her parents were here for few days to look after Ashi too, but now they have gone to London for some work. "My husband has got his job transferred to the Mumbai branch. This happened because I got Kasturi. I am very proud of my husband. He has been very supportive," she says.
Piyush says, "I will be joining office very soon. I think we'll then hire a maid to look after Ashi."
No big deal
Shubhangi, who is from Pune, has now shifted to Mumbai. She shifted into her new house in Malad two days back. Prior to this, she was staying with some friends in Lokhandwala.
She has been going home for barely a few hours rest, but feels it's no big deal if one is married and working in a TV serial. Asked how she manages the hectic schedules of a daily serial, Shubhangi says, "Shweta Tiwari and Smriti Iraani too are married and mothers. If they can do it, why can't I?"
Shubhangi and Piyush had a love marriage. After marriage, Shubhangi got some modelling offers for advertisements, which Piyush did not object to. A few days later, Shubhangi was finalised for Kasturi.
