Kashi (Played by Jannat Z Rumani) - is the 8 yr old daughter of Parbatram & Ishwari. At the age of eight; Kashi is inquisitive, sensitive & intelligent beyond her years. She aspires to learn & be educated as she believes that an education would help her do good for her family & make her parents proud.

Parbatram (Played by Pankaj Jha) –
Despite being from a lower caste; Parbatram's hard work & dedication enabled him to get work in the post office. As a postman; not only does Parbatram deliver letters to all the villagers but makes an effort to join in their joys & sorrows. A sincere, hardworking & honest man Parbatram wishes & works for the welfare of all in his village. A loving husband & father; his daughter Kashi is the apple of his eye. Despite their social & economic standing; Parbatram attempts to fulfil his daughter's every wish

Ishwari (Played by Sai Deodhar Singh) – is Kashi's mother. Her life revolves around the well-being of her family. She has no personal dreams or aspirations apart from praying for her family's health & happiness & supporting all their endeavours. An ideal wife & mother; she gives wings to Kashi's dreams & aspirations.

Mangatram (Played by Sunil Chauhan) -
is the elder brother of Parbatram. A rickshaw puller; he is subconsciously jealous of the fact that Parbatram is financially better off than him. Mangatram accepts the caste based division of society. He opposes Parbatram's attempts to fulfil Kashi's desire to get educated. Mangatram believes that customs should not be broken & doing so would only bring harm to the family.

Jaydevi (Played by Diksha Thakur) -
She is Mangat ram's wife and takes full advantage of being the elder bahu of the house. She makes ishwari do all the housework and yet does not stop taunting Ishwari as to how much work she does in the house. She too like her husband firmly believes in not breaking tradition.

Ganga (Played by Juhi Rangparia) -
is the twelve-year-old daughter of Mangalram & Jaydevi. She dreams of being a part of an upper caste family and envies their lifestyle. She works at Thakur's home and often rummages through their garbage to see if she can take something from them like powder, earrings etc.

Uma Devi Misra (Played by Nitika Anand) -
An opportunistic upper caste panch of the village, Uma Devi is a shrewd and conniving character that represents that privileged segment of society that would go to any extent to ensure that their position of power is never compromised. When things don't go her way, the ambitious Uma Devi lies low and assimilates the situation to only return with a proper remedy to permanently fix the problem. She prioritises her power wielding aspirations over everything else…including her own family. She is very adept at putting up a charitable face in front of the entire village and ensuring that she never loses her support.

Is Uma Devi's partner in ensuring that the upper caste always maintains its ruling position. He often resents Uma Devi's powerful position and constantly seeks to find an opportunity to end her dominance.

Lacchmi (Played by Poonam Joshi) -
She is the demented bua of Kashi who is still living the punishment of a sin she had committed years ago- that of falling in love with and marrying an upper caste boy. Abandoned by her own family and the rest of the village because of her eccentric behaviour, the only human touch extended to Lacchmi is that of Kashi. The special connection that she shares with Kashi is beyond the understanding of everybody else around. kashi is the only one who is able to acknowledge and converse with the gentle and kind hearted human being that lies camouflaged in the shroud of a strange get up and erratic behaviour.
