The thing is, in her ego, in her uppity and her superiority complex, Mohini doesn't view Prerna as a girl her son is ready to take bullets for, despite being the first hand witness of that craziness multiple times. However, she had relented to Anurag's wishes and had shown the signs of accepting Prerna, albeit grudgingly in the past.

The biggest thing is Mohini is a control freak. She always had a control over the entire Basu clan, including Anurag. The moment AnuPre's love story began, her hold and control over Anurag began to slip. I don't doubt she loves Anurag, she does- to the extent of being unfair to her daughters. But the moment Pre owned Anurag's heart, he began to defy her mother's wishes, especially her wish that her son doesn't get chummy with middle class Sharmas. Mohini has to be numero uno in her son's life. She views Prerna as a threat to that numero uno position in Anurag's life.

So, the answer is, although she KNOWS what Pre had done for Anurag, yet she has neither appreciated, nor acknowledged Pre's sacrifice, not that either any other Basu had shown their gratefulness, anyway. Mohini is a gone case altogether --- she doesn't care, AT ALL.

Nicely said..but all insecure mothers are like that..its nothing out of this world..instead of loving it and liking that their children are being loved so much , they start feeling insecure for themselves..obviously it's her ego , vanity and selfishness ..but that normally happens when there is too much love..it always turns toxic
