Chapter 2

Many years later.....

'Good morning, Teddy!' said Prerna, hugging her favourite pink teddy bear. Prerna has many teddies, but this one is her favourite, because her Rishi gifted it on her 8th Birthday, the last occasion they celebrated together.

'Priyu!Come for breakfast, Beta!' yelled Rajesh, from the dinning hall.

'Coming, Baba!' replied Prerna.

When Prerna reached there, she saw Shekhar's cheeks were red and Shivani and Mahesh were giggling.

'Did I miss out anything here?' she asked, sitting down.

Mahesh- 'Bohot kucch, Didi. Pata hai, abhi kucch der pehle my would be Bhabhi ka phone aaya tha.'

Sekhar pinched him.

'Ouch!This is not fair, Bhaiya.' said Mahesh.

Prerna couldn't hide her laugh.

Veena- ' Nok- Jhok Baad mein karna. Pehle nashta khatam karo!'

Rajesh- 'Priyu, kya tum Aaj free ho?'

'4 baje tak free hoon. Uske Baad NGO ke bacchon Ko ghumane lejana hai.' replied Prerna, sipping tea.

'Oh. Toh hum sab Aaj shopping karne chalenge bahar. Shekhar, tum bhi chalo.' said Rajesh.

'Par...'

Veena interrupted her eldest son.'Shaadi meri honewali hai ya tumhari?

Unwillingly, Shekhar said he would join them.

Meanwhile:-

Rishabh was looking out through his hotel room's window. He was thinking of a way to confront his Piu and her family. Nearly two decades passed since their sorrowful partition, but his love for her wasn't a bit less.

A little girl came and wrapped her hands around his legs.

Rishabh bent down and cupped his daughter's face in his hands and showed kisses.

'So, my Kukki is awake, huh?'

The five year old nodded positively.

He refreshed her and they had breakfast together.

'Accha Kukki,do you want a tour of the city in the evening?'

The mute child replied with a thumbs-up.

Rishabh smiled. Rishabh knew what it is like to live without parents, so when he saw an orphan Kukki, he adopted her.

Chapter 3

In the afternoon, Prerna took the kids ofthe NGO to Girish Park, a very famous park in Kolkata.

Some of the kids were on the swings, someon the seesaw, some on the Merry-Go-Round and some on the slides.

Prerna, due to some reasons unknown to her,was feeling that something good will happen with her soon.

‘Why am I feeling so happy? Oh God, why amI getting the feeling that I will get back something I have lost a long timeago?’ She was mumbling to herself while sitting ona bench.

Suddenly, she felt a tug on her dupatta.She saw a little girl was tugging her dupatta.

‘What do you want, Baccha?’ she asked.

The girl gestured with her hands that sheis mute.

Prerna was shocked. ‘Why God, why is thiscute little girl deprived of her voice?’

She was on her knees. She asked her, ‘Wantme to do something?’

The girl nodded positively and gesturedthat she wants Prerna to push the swing.

Prerna smiled and when the girl sat on the swingshe pushed it.

Some children of the NGO came to her andsaid, ‘Prerna Didi, hume fuchka (Golgappas, my love!) khana hai!’

‘Saath mein Papdi chat chalega?’ askedPrerna.

The kids hugged her. ‘You are awesome,Didi!’

The children began their feast.

Prerna took a plate of special Fuchka andwas going to give it to the girl on the swing, when…

“SMASH”

She collided with a man and the plate fullof golgappas was on the man’s coat, creating a mess.

‘I am sorry. I didn’t look…’ Prerna wasgoing to explain when the handsome young man burst out, ‘What the…Can’t youlook where you are going?’

‘Why are you screaming?’

‘Leave it. Why am I wasting my time talkingwith you? I have to find my daughter.’ he continued after turning away. ‘Kukki!Whereare you?’

‘Excuse me, Mister! Kya aap use dhoond rahehain?’ Asked Prerna, pointing to the girl on the swing.
‘Ah, here she is!’ Exclaimed Rishab,running to the child.

‘He is too young to be the father of a 5year old’, mumbled Prerna, to herself. She followed him.

‘Kukki! Ab promise karo ki aap mujhe chorkar kahin nhi jaogi!’

Rishab exclaimed. Kukki hugged her fatherand comforted him.

‘Kukki aap ke jaisi bilkul nhi hai!’

What do hugged her father and comforted him.

‘Kukki aap ke jaisi bilkul nhi hai!’

‘What do mean?’ Rishab asked, after the kidwent to play.

‘Aap ki jaisi dikhti nhi hain. Shayad apki wife ki tarahdikhtihai.’ Prerna smiled, looking at Kukki.

‘Kukki meri adopted beti hai. Isliye mujhe nhi pata ki who kiski tarahdikhti hai. Aur waise bhi, aap ke wajah se mera mahenga coat kharab ho gya hai.Ab yeh garbage hai!’

Prerna realized that he is from a rich, aristocrat family.

She took out a5 00 rupee note from her bag and placed it in his palm.

While doing so, a current passed through her body. Rishab feltthat current too.

Prerna received a call from her office. Shereceived the call.

‘I am worried about the financialcondition, Veena. I know that Prerna and Shekhar can help us, but I don’t wantus to be a burden on them! Already they are handling Mahesh and Shivani’sexpenses!’ said Rajesh, going through the monthly accounts.

‘Why don’t we give three rooms of the groundfloor on rent or PG? I am sure this will help!’ Replied Veena, putting theclothes in the wardrobe.

‘That is a good idea!’ replied her husband,and began making the draft of the advertisement.

hi the story is interesting and going along very nicely. I'm happy that you clearly separated the paragraphs makes it a lot easier to read, thanks. i think something went wrong tho one of the lines is in vertical and i can't read it properly, must be a posting error or something.

anyways waiting for the next one.

So Prerna and Rishabh had a past together and both are missing each other but when came face to face, they could not recognize each other. infact both were giving tashan to each other. I wonder whether Kukki is gonna be mediator between two?!

Kukki came to meet her. They both are already having a bond which is a good thing. First meet😆. Chalo, he claridges that Kukki is good source daughter. Such a bad impression, he is angry and looks like he is her boss. I am so looking forward to their next meet. Who will come for rent/pg? Basus?
