Hi, Guys.
So I finally got around to finishing the update I had left midway. I have no idea if people are still interested in this story. Let me know if I should bothering thinking of the next part or just leave it here. I recommend you atleast re-read the previous chapter before reading this one. Just as a memory refresher. This chapter is more from Prerna's PoV.
This is 16+. Nothing crazy explicit just not as innocent as the previous chapters either.

CHAPTER 23:
“Tea?” Rishabh waved an elegant hand at the spread in front of him.
“No. I don’t want any goddamn tea, Bajaj. Why have you called me here?” Nivedita fumed as she stood by the heavily laden table at Capella in Salt Lake. At 10.30 am, on a weekday, the upscale restaurant stood almost empty. She was overworked and a little humiliated at having answered his summons so easily.
“Why don’t you take a seat, Nivedita? And then we’ll talk. Tea makes for a civil conversation.” Bajaj offered, gesturing at the generous breakfast spread.
Despite her screaming instincts telling her to run, she took a seat opposite Rishabh Bajaj. A sense of foreboding creeping over her. Surreptitiously, she watched him through hooded eyes as he served the beverage. His face was what grabbed attention first, she observed. Symmetrical, and flawlessly proportioned, not even his cold expression cut from stone could mar it. The second look showed the type of body women groaned over, and the third revealed intellect in every move he made, as though everyone else was a pawn, and he was musing over how to play each one.
“You’re going to send your brother to the States To get his masters.” He said casually, snapping her back into the present.
“You don’t get to tell me what to do, Bajaj. And I don’t take my orders from men anymore.” Nivedita sniped, counting to a slow ten in her head.
“Come on, now. I’m asking nicely.” Rishabh’s tone was saccharine sweet.
“Bite me.” Nivedita roughly pushed her check back, making a move to get up.
“Sit down, Nivedita.” His command brooking no argument. “This isn’t a negotiation. Take him off the company’s board and send him to the States. His trust fund is untouchable so when the creditors come knocking, he’ll be secure. Your company is sinking and I’m throwing your brother a lifeline."
“While simultaneously holding us underwater. Machiavelli would be impressed, Bajaj.” Nivedita countered, her hands shaking.
“Business is business." Rishabh shrugged. "But your brother is a goddamn train wreck, and ordinarily I wouldn’t give a shit. But his juvenile tantrums are beginning to annoy me now. He tried to execute a hostile takeover of one of my subsidiaries. The idiot boy pledged the shares of Basu Textiles in to Candriam as collateral for the transaction.”
Nivedita’s eyes widened in horror.
“Yeah, I guess baby brother doesn’t know that big sister has made a mess of Basu Textiles and SEBI is waiting to pounce.” Rishabh said tauntingly.
Those shares were going to be worthless after SEBI busted Nivedita. It was just a question of when. And then they wouldn’t have the liquidity buffer to re-pay Candrium. It would all fall like domino chips. Her fingers turned cold, stomach twisting in alarm.
“Relax. I did a buyback from Candrium. They had to release your shares after that. An expensive affair, if I may say so.”
“And now?” Nivedita let out the breath she was holding and swallowed the hot tea in a furious gulp. She was going to be arrested for fratricide before fraud.
“And now, the way I see it. You owe me. Get the kid off the board and send him on his way. I don’t want him caught in the middle when I come for it all .” His threat sounding more like a promise.
“Anurag won’t agree, don’t you understand? As long as Prerna is…” Nivedita trailed off.
“Make it happen."
Why try and help Anurag at all?” Nivedita asked, standing slowly on unsteady legs, eyeing Rishabh with equal resentment and admiration. We would be unstoppable if we were on the same side, she mused. Alas, they were destined to square off as opponents.
“What can I say, Ms. Basu, I have a heart of gold.” His wide smirk letting her know that she wasn’t going to get a straight answer out of him. But she suspected that the newly coined Mrs. Bajaj had something to do with it.

Prerna was spitting mad and resolutely refused to examine the reason for it. A storm of tangled feelings had clouded her judgement and she was too far gone to turn back now. Her husband and Varuna Sehgal had been locked in his study in for over 4 hours and she had had about enough. She swept past the large balustrade and heard the distant gong of the clock striking one. Acutely aware of her attire and intending to make full use of it, she thrust open the double doors without preamble.
“Hey, you’re up late. Something the matter? Kuki okay?” Rishabh asked immediately, rubbing his stubble. Her husband looked more than a little rumpled, jacket and tie laying forgotten on the table, his shirt unbuttoned. The kind of messy that made her see red. She ignored the curious eyes of Varuna Sehgal, walking over to her husband, their gazes locked.
“Everything is fine. Just came to get you. It’s pretty late.” Prerna replied, a sultry purr to her voice which did nothing to temper her flashing eyes. She intentionally swayed her hips a little, her skin glowing with suppressed anger.
She leaned in close behind him, draping her arms over his chest in show of possession and dominance.
Was the tramp watching? Good.
Prerna nuzzled his ear for a second before taking a sharp bite to his ear.
This was war. And she was going to render her philandering husband bloody.
“Here’s the deal.” She whispered softly, her poisonous tone unmistakable. “If you don’t send her packing now, I will walk into your 11 am conference tomorrow to remind you to apply your anti-rash cream. And that will be just the beginning.”
He let out a strangled groan, eyes twinkling, a smirk spreading across his lips.“Trying to play my—”
“10 minutes. You have 10 minutes to get her out of here. Or I’m going to make your life a living hell.”
Leaning in closer, she pulled his face to hers, cupping his face in one hand.
“We’re working—”
She kissed him then. It wasn’t planned. Just a visceral need to establish control. A harsh reminder of her threat. Her lips aiming to bruise. How fitting that their first kiss was born in conflict and anger. And just as quickly, she broke contact before she got swept away.
“10 minutes.”
Mrs Bajaj stepped off from behind her husband and sauntered out of the room, unfolding the sleeves of the striped signature RB shirt she had worn.

Prerna slammed the bathroom door, irritation swirling in the pit of her stomach.
Twenty minutes.
He’d walked into their room twenty minutes later and was currently sprawled on their couch. Contently sipping a drink and reading a magazine.
“Bad day?” he murmured genially into his drink.
Prerna didn’t answer. She didn’t think she could be trusted to not throw the decanter at his ridiculously perfect head.
“You know…” He looked into the glass, swirling the amber liquid. “For someone who’s been upgraded to living in a mansion and been given every conceivable comfort, you seem a little ungrateful.”
She threw her head back and gave a bitter laugh, making her way to the large dressing table. “Oh, you’ve got nerve, as*hole. I see that the Leggy Mcskanks you spent the night with has got you thinking backward. But see, in order for me to be grateful, I needed to want this in the first place. And we both know I’m not here out of choice.”
He got up from the L-shaped sofa and padded barefoot over the expanse of the room before he appeared by her side. “Is that what helps you sleep at night? The illusion that I’m forcing you?”
Their eyes colliding in the mirror. It was like getting caught in the vortex of a cyclone. There was a rawness to their reflection. A woman with tousled hair and a man with unfathomable depths. She forced herself to look away.
“I’m definitely being forced to put up with your one-night stands. Next time, take them to a hotel.”
“You seem a lot interested in who I’m f*cking or not f*cking. Are you jealous, Prerna? Because I’m happy to make time for my wife.” He deliberately brushed his fingers down her arms, a small smile playing at his lips.
Prerna knew he got high on this exchange. Same as her. Their fighting only seemed to invigorate them.
“No, thanks. I couldn’t care less who you sleep with. As long as it’s not in the house.” Prerna retorted, her trembling hands betraying her words. His clever fingers worked through her hair, gathering them into a messy not at the base of her neck. She tried to even out her breathing but there was no controlling the thumping in her chest. She was an addict and he was the fix she craved. Like a hit of cocaine. And she would keep jonesing for her next fix. And the next one.
“I’ve told you before. I’m not sleeping around. Varuna and I are business associates.” He murmured close to her ear. Denying her any contact.
“I don’t give a sh*t. She doesn’t come into my house home, Rishabh. Or you won’t like the consequences.” She growled, giving into the jealousy.
“This sounds a lot like a threat.” He cocked an eyebrow at her tone. “Is it one?”
“No. I’m asking to make a deal with you.” She turned around, facing him defiantly.
Rishabh’s eyes lit with triumph, like he’d won the game.
“I don't want her in the house. And if you have to work with her, don't do it alone." She gritted out.
“Okay. My turn now.”
“What do you want?” She asked hoarsely, knowing what was coming. Craving it.
“You seem to be laboring under the misconception that you’re the one calling the shots in this relationship. That little stunt you pulled in my study tells me that you’re due for a lesson. Don’t start playing games, if you don’t know the rules."
He breached the scant space between them slowly, giving her time to run if she so chose.
His kiss was feather light at first, teasing her endlessly. He even held her gently, giving her plenty of room to break away. Too bad Prerna didn’t want gentle. She clung on to him, not trusting her body to hold itself upright. She hated how desperate she became around him. Loved how that desperation made her feel. If the goal of the game was to gain control, then Prerna didn't have a chance in hell.
“Rishabh, please.” She pleaded. Ordinarily, the begging would have embarrassed her. She tried to move impossibly closer, threading her hands in his hair.
"Slow down, sweetheart." He half-chuckled.
A short eternity later, he broke their connection.
“You okay?” He whispered harshly.
She was too lightheaded to make sense of his question. Why had he stopped kissing her? Was that even allowed?
“I should go. I have an early day tomorrow.” He said softly.
She nodded wordlessly; her heart was still pounding wildly. Her world had tilted off its axis.
“And Prerna?” Rishabh whispered against her lips, a sly glint in his eyes. “The next time you parade around in my clothes, I’ll assume you want me to take them off you."

Soha! Welcome back! Hope you're doing good.❤️
I'd like to convey that I'm very much interested in the story...and I'm damn sure many other readers are interested too. Your readers would be delighted if you continue.
The FFs by you, Aparna, and Nor are the best long fictions on this forum.

Thank you so much! I hope you like the update!
Heellloooo.... Welcome back... 🤗🤗
It's been really really really longggg.... 😆
You must be joking if you are saying of stopping the updates.... Don't even think about it.... We're always and forever waiting for the next update and then the next and then the next...... No full stop for our waiting
And what a come back update you brought with you.... Hayyee.....loved loved loved it.... Only complaint is it was such a short moment between them... But did I read a promise in there😆....will Prerna wear his clothes again to see if he'll fulfill his promise☺️😆....can't wait to see.... Please update soon Soha...
Read it. Brilliant update!
The opening scene featuring Nivi and Rishabh was too good. The woman's emotions of both resentment and admiration towards the enchanter was really well expressed. There was also a bit of attraction.
I loved the entire conversation with RB's sharp, dominant rejoinders dipped in saccharin sweetness troubling his opponent who had no chance.
Coming to PreRish, Prerna's possessive side makes me damn happy. The attraction is just so palpable.
Pity their moment ended soon. But, I know it's just the beginning. The parting line contains hints.
Hey!!! Welcome back!!! Thankyou so much for updating🤗 I have lost count of how many times I've read this FF. It's one of the few PreRish fictions that I love reading on the forum. Pls do continue. ❤️❤️
Immediate reaction? FU*KKKK THIS WAS HOT. OFF THE CHARTS HOT.😳
Let me come back with a more thoughtful response.😆
welcome back 🤗 & woohoo for the update . this is one of the best fics on PreRish on this forum & one of my favourites so I'm very grateful you're continuing 👍🏼
now about the update. damn Prerna has fallen hard & she's craving RB like an addict... will not end well for her
Loved RB & Nivi's interaction, if they had kept her as a strong business woman that she was supposed to be, their interactions would have been fire 😳
absolutely love your version of RB, he's charming, intellectual & dangerous ☺️. now that the relationship between them has changed, RB knows P was jealous & wants him, it'll be good to see how he uses this to his advantage. something tells me RB won't get off scott-free either, marriage brings a whole different level to any game or relation no matter who you are. Kings are often bent on the whims of their Queens...can't wait to see what happens next Plus i think your Hades & Persephone reference will come into play too 😉
p.s wouldn't mind & would probably encourage their encounter, when it happens, to be a little ☺️☺️☺️
LOOK WHO IS BACK WHO IS BACK WHO IS BACK
I had lost all hopes of you updating and felt
But you did
And this one is so
Pls pls pls be regular with updates henceforth
Hope all is well at your end take care ❤️
