Bajaj in S1 did unquestionably debauched things. Things he can never take back and thing no one will justify. It's who he became AFTER THAT that really matters. The journey is what matters in good storytelling. I don't want characters who are white. Where's the fun in that? Where is the moral complexity in that?

As far as Komolika vs Bajaj is concerned, I think it's anyway far too soon to call a judgement. Her initial track is over, his haven't even properly began for us to sit here and play judge. Let's see it play out. But even if we have to go for surface level, Komolika was a half baked, one dimensional villain. She was also a narcissist and just plain stupid and didn't really evolve or have a character graph for people to hook onto. With Bajaj, it's different. Even if you put aside season assertions, Bajaj is intriguing because he's neither white nor completely black. He's shown sharp intellect, a backstory that you want to learn more about and his motivations are mostly in the dark for now. Which makes for excellent potential.

I can't justify the shit some of my most favorite characters do. And why should I? I would've probably dumped Game of Thrones on the first episode if that was the case. Journeys matter. The question that hooks you matters. And people following the journey of Bajaj right now are interested in watching his character go from point A to point B because there are so many possibilities. Everyone has a thing for something. Some people dig characters like Anurag. I find him flat for now. Who knows what the future holds.

very well said.. I do agree with you that the journey definitely matters, and just like you i do not like white characters either, and that is why maybe AnuPre is relatable too because they are individually flawed.

The journey of all the character sin season 1 was good, that is why the show is iconic, it is just I can never support Bajaj whenever the root cause of AnuPre's separation is being discussed, had he developed more empathy for them thing could be better. And yes karma is there, may be that is why at the climax, it was Anurag-Prerna-Komolika again, and AnuPre dies together.

Game of Thrones .. I had decided to not watch it after the red wedding, it was traumatizing to watch that episode. Also i cursed Jamie so much during the initial seasons, but later on Jamie was one of my favorite characters of the show. That is how a journey should be, Bajaj never evoked that kind of liking, but well cannot disagree that he has fans and he is iconic too.

This. A much needed post.

Bajaj is intriguing because of his greyness. Grey characters have much better journey since they surprise you with their acts of good when you least expect it or not expect it at all. They begin with shadyness but show character progression.

Otherwise GOT fans know well on what happened to good & white characters-Khaleesi turned mad in a snap, Jon went clueless, Ned lost his head & Robb his everything.

At the end, it's a character progression many want to watch. Grey characters have much better deal at this.

Komo likes chikna boys, tou phir Bajaj likes chiknis too, otherwise duniya mein meneka jaisi auraat ki kami thi kya, ke middle class prerna ko shaadi karna chahta hai.. on top of that, seems like Meneka ka patni dharam sirf tabhi jaag jayegi jab woh Bajaj ko Prerna ki painting karte dekhegi... Komo will return, maybe with plastic surgery or different haircut and try to snatch Bajaj from meneka, trust me meneka is a better competition than prerna..

Watch last 3 episodes of final season, the damage they did to Jamie is irreversible with the things he did in those 2 episodes of final season.

By the end of last season, one will hate every character they once deeply loved & rooted for in GOT. It had that bad of a writing.

But Bajaj is intriguing because it's rare to get characters like him in ITV. Normally, we have either white or black characters.

Karma definitely plays a huge part, but sometimes it sits silently as well. I guess real life is an inherent combination of colors. I could never connect or empathize with Prerna's character because if I put myself in her shoes I'd never do the things she would and so even trying to analyse her is a chore. Anurag on the other hand was intriguing at the start, but again, their journey never really caught me and I don't see the chemistry, which I think is really a matter of preference at the end of the day, so I could never root for them. I didn't mind Bajaj not developing empathy for AnuPre because even after he transformed and became the man he was supposed to be, he loved Prerna and wanted her for himself. I think the fact that he felt that, and despite his feelings, and despite his angst, he let Prerna take her decisions and always do whatever she wanted when it came to Anurag showed that he had evolved. He had empathy and trust for Prerna. And that truly mattered later on.

THE RED WEDDING OMG! Traumatized to this day but still love the episode! What a beautiful beautiful piece of fiction and cinema. ROBB AND CAT THO

+1000 This is why GOT was one of the best shows! People were so real, unapologetic, grey af. They did unquestionable things but you always understood where they were coming from and they had brilliant journeys. The white characters were tragic heroes with fatal flaws and the black birds had some of the best character journeys ever. Jaime. Theon being two of my favorites.

Absolute piece of trash. Dumb & dumber should be barred for making any more shows ever again as a penance for this irreversible damage.

And Martin should release those God-damn books for our sanity.😆
