How saiyara became hit
Hey everyone, after a very long time I am updating this FF. Thanks for waiting so patiently..
Also since I didn't update for so long, I am making this up to guys by making this two part episode into one big part so enjoy. 😉
Much as I have wanted to, I cannot recall the actual scenes mentioned in the past flashes. Therefore I have made them up. But I have tried to keep them as close to the storyline as possible.
WARNING: If any of you is a serious AP fan/PRB fan woh hates the mention of the other couple, please avoid reading this part.
Dedicated to Patel 1993- I have named one character after you 😉😳 Thanks for pushing me to update this.
Episode 18-19: Love, Labour and Lost.
I mean, who is my father? Mr. Basu or Mr. Bajaj?
-Prem Prerna Sharma
Once there were two women who never knew each other
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother
Two lives shaped to make you one
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun
The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it
The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name
One gave you a talent, the other gave you aim
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried you tears
One sought for you a home she could not provide
The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you.
Now, which of these two women, Are you the product of?
Both, my darling, Both, Just two different types of love.
---- Unknown
Twenty seven years ago. Prem's birth day. A hospital is shown. Prerna is lying on a gurney, obviously in labour. Anurag is wheeling it across a corridor where a medical team is waiting.
Prerna: Anurag, Mr. Bajaj kahaan hai? Mujhe un ki zaroorat hai. Anurag, please unhe bolao.
Anurag wheels her to the doctor.
Doctor: Oh Prerna, thank God. I was getting worried keh aap log kahaan thay. (She motions to the nurses and orderlies behind her) Jaldi isse room may ley jaon. (she looks at Anurag) Bachay kay Papa kahaan hai?
Before Anurag can reply, Prerna emits a piercing shriek. The doctor gets distracted and goes with the team now wheeling Prerna away. The doctor's question remains unaswered as Prerna continues screaming.
Present day, Same hospital, same maternity ward. Woman can be heard screaming in labour. Prerna is standing at one side looking helpless and frustrated. Two women wearing white lab coats approach her.
!st Doctor: Mrs. Bajaj? I am Dr. Khanna, Palchin ki OB-GYN. Aap hi Palchin ki mother-in-law hai?
Prerna(frustratedly): Ji, koi mujhe bataya ga keh woh kahaan hai?
Dr. Khanna: Mrs. Bajaj, yeh Dr. Patel hai. Woh geneticist jo Palchin kay case main involved thi.
Prerna(confused): Geneticist? Palchin aur geneticist? What is going on?
Dr. Patel(shocked): Mrs. Bajaj, Palchin ney aap ko apni condition nahin batai thi?
Prerna(now growing apprehensive): Condition? Kaun si condition? Kya aap mujhe batai gaye keh kya ho raha hai?
Dr. Patel: Mrs. Bajaj, Palchin was suffering from a rare genetic disorder. Ornithine carbamoyltransferase deficiency.
Prerna: Is ka kya matlab hai?
Dr. Patel: Is ka basic matlab yeh hai keh Palchin ki body main ek enzyme ki kami thi. Is ki waaja sey us ki body main bahut unnatural amounts of ammonia aa gaye. Usually yeh bimari detect nahin hoti par Palchin ki pregnancy ki waaja sey, humain is kay baaray main pata chala.
Prerna: To phir aap is ka koi ilaaj kyun nahin kar rahe?
Dr. Patel: Is beemari ka ilaaj kar ney kay liye, humain us kay fetus ko destroy kar na zaroori tha. Aur Palchin refused to do that.
Prerna(angry): Par, main aap sey keh rahi hoon, agar bache ki jaan jaani hai to jaye, liken Palchin ki jaan bacha lai.
Dr. Patel: I am sorry, Mrs. Bajaj, its too late for that. Ab us ki body main itna ammonia jhai, keh woh bach nahin sakti. The only thing keeping her alive is the placenta. Once she delivers the baby, she might never recover.
Prerna: Oh my God, aap nay humain pehle kyun nahin bataya?
Dr. Patel: Aap ko batana ki responsibilty Palchin ki thi. She and her husband should have decided this matter but we never saw her husband. To Palchin ki consent ki baghair hum us ka abortion nahin kara sakte thay.
Dr Khanna: Yeh Palchin ka consent form hai. Where she agrees that she is coosing to have the baby against her doctor's advice. I am very sorry for this Mrs. Bajaj, I cannot tell you how sorry I am.
She hands the form to Prerna and then both women walk off. Prerna's eyes are filled with tears, clouding her vision. She shkaes her head and tries to read the form.
In the far off distance of the past,
a child's voice is heard: But I don't want to read.
27 years ago, Prem's birth day. Little Sneha is lying in a hospital room. Vishaka and Kuki are there. They are trying to convince her to read a book.
Sneha(folding her arms): Mujhe book nahin parni. Mujhe Mummy kay pass jaana hai.
Vishaka: Sneha, dekho, Mummy jo hai woh tumhare nai bhai ya behen kay liye prepare kar rahi hai. Woh is duniya main aane waala hai. Tumhe yaad haina keh Mom nai kya kahaan tha?
Sneha(excited): Sach? Mera chota bhai ya behen aaj aaye ga? Sneha us kay saath bahut khelay gi. Par kya woh meray aur Mummy kay saath rahe ga ya Papa kay pass?
Kuki: Dekhna Sneha, Woh hum sab kay saath rahe, Mom, Dad, humaray pooray parivaar kay saath.
Sneha: Par, Kuki Di, maine Mohini Nani ko suna tha, woh Moloy Nanu sey keh rahi thi keh is baby kay Papa meray Papa nahin Anurag Uncle hai. Vishk Di, kya yeh sach hai?
Kuki: Yeh koi sach nahin. Yeh baby humara.hai. Humaray Mom Dad hi is kay Mom Dad hai. Koi Anurag Basu na-
Vishaka(cutting Kuki off): Ssh Kuki! Sneha, dekho, Humaray Mom Dad kay kitne saare bache, hai na?
Sneha: Haan, to?
Vishaka: To jis tareekay kuch Mummy Papa itne lucky hotay hai keh kyunki unkay bahut saare bachay hotay hai, issi tarra kuch lucky bachon kay pass do sey ziyada Mummy Papa hotay hai. Is baby kay teen Mummy Papa hoon gaye.
Sneha: Aisa ho sakta hai?
Vishaka: Kyun nahin? Dekho, Mummy Papa kaun hotay hai, woh log jo hum sey bahut pyar karay. Ab dekho Sneha, tum sey kitne saare log pyar karte hai. Main, Kuki Di, Tushki Bhaiya, Mom, Dad, Anurag Uncle, aap kay Nanu, Nani. To is baby ko bhi log pyar karege. Infact, is baby sey to ek aur insaan bhi bahut pyar karega.
Sneha: Kaun?
Vishaka: Sneha, budhu, Sneha!
"Sneha!" Her mother voice's breaks Sneha out of her reverie.
Present Day, Maternity Ward. Adult Sneha is clutching her cellphone and Prerna is next to her, holding a piece of paper in her hand.
Sneha: Oh sorry, Mamma. Maine Prem sey baat kar li, woh aur Mukti yaahan aa rahe hai. Unhe Prema mil gaye. Palchin kaisi hai?
Prerna(bitterly): Alive as long as the baby is inside her.
Sneha(shocked): What?
Prerna describes her conversation with the doctors.
Sneha: Oh My God, Palchin.
Prerna(still bitter): They gave me the consent form which she signed. Tumhe pata hai keh yeh form us ladki kab sign kiya tha? Prema kay humaray ghar main aane kay ek din baad.
Jis din, is ghar ki beti nay ghar main kadam rakha, us kay aglay hi din ghar ki bahu nay duniya sey bahar jaane ka faisla kar liya.
Footsteps are heard, Prem and Mukti enter, Mukti is carrying the sleeping child in her arms. Prem goes up to his mother.
Prem: How is she?
Neither women know quite how to reply.
Past, Prem's birth day. Little Sneha is lying in her hospital room, alone and asleep. Mr. Bajaj enters discreetly and goes over to the child. He kisses her on her forehead.
Mr. Bajaj: Maine eeshwar sey kabhi kuch nahin maanga, par aaj maangta hoon. Sneha ko bacha lo. Sneha aur is duniya main aane walay us bachay par kabhi koi aanch na aane do. Warna main ji nahin paaon ga.
He kisses her again and walks out. A few minutes later, Sneha starts whimpering in her sleep.
Sneha(half-asleep): Papa! Papa!
Anurag enters the room quickly, he rushes over to Sneha.
Anurag: Kya hua, Sneha?
Sneha: Anurag Uncle, Papa ko waapas bolao. Woh kyun chor kar chale gaye, kya woh mujh sey pyar nahin karte?
Anurag(his heart breaking): Sneha beta, aap kay Papa aap sey bahut pyar karte hai. Par, woh sirf aap ki Mummy sey naraaz hai. Par is ka matlab yeh thori na hai keh woh aap sey, aap ki Mummy sey aur is baby sey pyar nahin karte?
Sneha: Anurag Uncle, kya aap bhi hum sey pyar karte ho?
Anurag: Of course main tum sey aur tumhare chotay behen ya bhai sey bahut pyar karta hoon. (He kisses her) Acha aap so jaye. Jab utho gi to hum tumhe baby sey milai gai.
Sneha: Goodnight Anurag Uncle
She drifts off to sleep and Anurag continues to watch the sleeping child.
Present Day, Waiting room. PD is fast asleep, sprawled across her mother's lap. Sneha comes and sits next to Mukti.
Mukti: Sneha, kuch pata chala?
Sneha(shakes her head): Abhi tak Caeserean complete nahin hua hai.
Mukti: Oh God, bechari Palchin.
Sneha (her eyes following her sleeping niece): Ek maa apne bachay kay liye kuch bhi kar sakti hai.
Mukti doesn't know what to say.
Sneha: Mujhe nahin pata keh yeh saahin waqt hai keh nahin, par mujhe tum sey maafi maang ni hai.
Mukti(shocked): Maafi?
Sneha: Haan, maafi. Jab mujhe pata chala keh Prema tumhari beti hai, ek lamhe kay liye meray dil main ek darr bet gaya. Keh shayd yeh Sharad ki beti to nahin.
I know now, keh Prema Prem ki beti hai, liken is darr nai meray dil main is bachi kay liye pyar kam kar diya. Phir mujhe ehsaas hua, keh woh Sharad ki beti ho na ho, is main Prema ka kya dosh hai? Jis tareekay tumhare rape tumhara kya dosh tha?
Mukti: Sneha, We had a DNA test done before she came here, woh Prem hi ki beti hai.
Sneha: Jab mujhe ehsaas hua, keh maine tum sey kabhi bhi maafi nahin maangi thi. Sharad ko apni behen sey ziyada importance daine kay liye. I am so sorry, Mukti, I have no excuse for what I did.
Mukti reaches and wipes her sister's tears and then hugs her tightly.
Shaken by the movement, PD wakes up.
PD: Mamma, hum kahaan hai?
Mukti: Beta, Palchin Auntie beemaar hai, hum hospital main hain.
PD: Palchin Auntie beemar hai? Par, Mamma un ko jaldi sey theek karai! Unhe batana hai key humara plan successful ho gaya!Aap aur Prem mil gaye!
Mukti: Prema, yeh tum kya keh rahi hoon?
PD: Mamma, aap ne guess nahin kiya? Palchin Auntie hi meri mystery helper thi!
Both Mukti and Sneha stare at the little girl. From across the room, Prerna has heard too.
Maternity Ward-another waiting area, Prem is sitting there alone, with his head in his hands. Prerna comes in and sits next to her. Prem lifts his head.
Prem: Do you know what it's like to be loved by two people at one time?
Prerna raises her eyebrows.
Prem: Oh sorry, forgot who I was asking. Yeh to aap ki zindagi ki definition hai na.
Prerna: Prem, I have decided something.
Prem (least interested): What?
Prerna: Main Kay Channel tumhe waapas dey rahi hoon.
Prem: Aap is waqt business ki baat kar rahi hai?
Prerna: Aur main Basu house ko char bacho kay naam kar rahi hoon, Prema, P2, Shravvan ki beti Krutika aur yeh bacha.
Prem stares at his mother.
Prerna: Mujhe aaj samajh may aa gaya hai, keh main itne saalo kay pyar ko nafrat main badal rahi thi, par main bhool gaye thi keh issi pyar nay mujhe meray bachay diye.. aur woh pyar jo mujhe meray bachay deta hai woh pyar ghalat nahin ho sakta.
Prem:: Aap kya keh rahi hai?
Prerna: Main Anurag sey hamesha nafrat karugi kyunki us ney mujh sey meray pati ko cheena. Par main pyar sey nafrat nahin kar sakti. Yeh baat ek chaye saal ki bachi aur Palchin ney mujhe sikhai hai.
Prem(shocked) Palchin?
Prerna: Haan Palchin. Jab Palchin ko pata chala keh woh jaane wali hai, us ney Prema kay saath mil kar tumhe aur Mukti ko mila ney ki koshish kari. Main us ki waaja tum dono ko door rakh rahi thi, aur ussi tum dono ko milaya. Main apni ziddh main pyar ki taakat ko bhool hi gaye.
Twenty seven year ago, The room outside the delivery room, Anurag is pacing anxiously. A nurse comes.
Nurse: Larka hua hai.
Anurag breaks into a large smile. Hidden behind some plants, Mr. Baja also smiles to himself.
Present Day, A Nurse comes to Prem.
Nurse: Ladki hui hai. Aap apni patni sey kuch der main mil sakte hain.
Some time later, Prem, Prerna, Mukti and PD enters the room. Palchin is lying on the bed cradling her baby.
Palchin(to Prerna): Ma, please pyar sey nafrat nahin kariya ga.
Prerna kisses her on the forhead.
Palchin now turns to Mukti, offering the baby to her.
Palchin(to Mukti): Take care of her. But I know already you will.
Mukti picks up the baby girl.
Palchin(to PD): Hey my little partner, plan successful tha, na?
PD nods, her eyes swimming with tears as she realizes her friend is leaving her forever.
Fianlly, Palchin turns towards Prem.
Palchin: Name her what you want for she is yours. Par is ka middle name Mukti hoga. It is because of Mukti that she came into this world.
Mukti gestures to give the child to Prem, but he shakes his head, unable to speak. A nurse comes and takes the baby.
Nurse: Hum aisey baby room main kis naam sey rakhay?
Palchin(her voice weak): Is ka first name abhi pata nahin hai, liken is ka middle name Mukti hai.
Prem(finally able to speak) : aur last name, Sharma.
Prerna looks at him in amazement.
Prem: I took the last name Basu to remind you that he was my father. I don't need to do that anymore…
Palchin smiles to herself and drifts off to her final sleep.
Hospital, outside the maternity ward. A nurse comes and hand him a letter without a word. She walks away. He opens the letter and begins reading.
My Dearest Prem,
If you are reading this, then I am dead. But don't worry, I have gone to a place where I will be happier than I ever have been here.
You see, Prem, you and I are more alike than you thought. Like you, I, too, lost my soulmate to a car acccident some years ago. I was eighteen, his name was Ritesh. We had grown up together, I loved no one as much as I loved him. Yet a car accident happened and he was left in a coma. For six months, he lay there, till he was proclaimed brain dead. That's when I decided to be a physiotherapist, to help those who so return from comas but I could never love again.
When I met you, I was attracted to you for we had both suffered similar plights. When I married you, I nearly convinced myself that I could love you. I tried to pretend the nights we spent together were proof of some love but I knew it was merely two friends turning to each other. Those nights gave me a reason to be happy, the reason woh must now be frolicking in Mukti's arms.
When I first learnt I had this genetic condition, I knew what I had to do. Neither you nor I were happy in this marriage or on this Earth. But to kill myself would leave my child abandoned for I feared you would never love again. The doctors gave me a few days to think over this decision, to consult with my family. That was the day Ma left for Satara.
When she returned, it seemed that my queries were answered. She brought with her, a small child. A child who did something that no one had been able to do, she brought a ghost of a smile to your face. That's when I knew my baby would have a father.
But a father is not everything, my baby needed a mother, too. I had gone to Tanvi's room to introduce myself to PD. That's when I noticed her mother's picture. I asked her her mother's name. When I found out that her name was Mukti. I was shocked, angry and frustrated. I hated life for being unfair, your love had been given a second chance, your love had conceived a child, but my love was dead and barren.
I went to my room, angry that night. Yet, that's when I realized this child was the answer to my plans. As long as she remained there, you and Mukti would reunite and my baby would have two parents who would love her, even more than I did. Both you and I would be reunited with the people we love. And I made the decision to not abort the baby.
When I listened, one day, to Prema talking to both yours and Mukti's pictures, I realized she had fugured out what was happening. That's when she and I concocted this scheme to get the two of you to meet. The pain her parent's reunion would cause me had been the only thing stopping your child from going ahead for her conscience was too much like her mother's.
Today, I am planning to make the two of you meet. I have aready done my share of work. The rest depends on you two and your daughter. My back's been cramping for some time now, I think its almost time but before I go, I need to tell you one last thing
You, Prem, are very fortunate to bear this name. For there is no power stronger than love….
Flash of Anurag when he first cradles baby Prem in his arms.
It is what makes a woman make sacrifices she never dreamt of for the safety of her child…..
Mukti is rocking the weeping Prema back and forth.
It makes a child take extreme measures to ensure her parents' reunion……
Prema cries as she realizes the price of her parent's reunion.
It is what makes the bond of two sisters who grew up together so strong that apology is accepted before it was even given……
Sneha(with her arm around Mukti): I am so glad you forgave me.
Mukti: How could I fogive you when I was never angry at you?
It is the passion that two lovers feel, that refuses to diminish with time……
Prem's eyes meet Mukti's from across the room. Mukti, her eyes filled with concern, instinctively understands his need for some time on his own and looks away.
It is what makes a parent love a child that's not biologically his…..
Past, Prem's birth day
Bajaj enters the room and picks up the sleeping baby in the cradle and kisses him
Present, Baby room, Mukti goes to Prem's baby
Mukti picks up the sleeping baby and kisses her on her forhead. Putting the baby down, she picks up the name tag on top of the crib and begins writing on the space for the first name: P-A -L -C -H -I –N so the child's name reads:
Palchin Mukti Sharma
And what makes a child love her adopted parents enough to say their names wih pride….
A nurse comes up to Mukti and asks for the baby's personal information.
Nurse: Bachi kay Dada Dadi ka naam?
Mukti: Prerna Bajaj, Rishabh Bajaj.
Yes, love is the strongest emotion of it all. Yet what makes it truly powerful is that with Love, you will always find Salvation…..
Both for others…
Same scene, Prerna interupts Mukti:
Prerna: Anurag Basu
Nurse: Kya?
Prerna(as if coming to terms with a difficult decision): Is bachi kay do dada hai: Rishabh Bajaj aur Anurag Basu.
The Nurse stares for a second, but then shrugs and continues writing.
And for yourself….
Prerna collapses on the floor, allowing herself to mourn for the first time for the man she had once loved and hoped to spend her life with.
And finally realize that love can never be wrong.
Always,
Take care of Mukti and the daughters you share,
Palchin.
The End
Only one more episode to go 😉
-ornithine carbamoyltransferase deficiency is actually a real genetis disorder.
And before anyone else points it out: Yes, I noticed the resemblance to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
And I noticed the irony that the two children are called: Prema and Palchin Mukti (it was intentional)😉
Aw, thanks all of you guys.😳
I am not gonna say this time that I will update soon because everytime I say that, I take longer to update.😉 but it really means a lot to me that you guys stuck through with this FF till its very end.
