Another feather in Jennifer's cap
| ||
I play an 18-year-old girl Ganga who is as pure and innocent as her name. Hailing from a small town, she is selfless and always thinks about others around her.
How is Ganga different from other women on screen?
It sounds monotonous but the treatment is very different. Though she's a girl next door, she trusts everyone around her easily and her father's dreams are most important for her. One instance changes her entire life. She instantly turns into a woman from a girl. She then pursues her ambition of opening a school to make her father's dream come true.
Do you think Sangam will be able to stand out in the prime-time slot?
It will. It's a story about dreams turning into reality where Ganga's character will be an example of determination and heroism.
Isn't it time for change not only in the treatment but also conceptualisation?
We cannot negate the fact that most of our viewers are housewives. So one has to adhere to the popular demand. I don't think they are ready for a change in what they have been viewing.
What else is on the cards?
I'm doing Kasauti and now Sangam. So, I'm left with no time to accept any other offer.
How has it been working in Kasauti?
Kasauti was like a launch pad for me. It's special and am emotionally attached to the show.
What other shows have you worked with?
I have worked with three Balaji shows before signing Kasauti. Kusum and Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai on Sony and Kaarthika on Hungama TV are my other shows.
Bollywood dreams? | ||
I have still not given a thought to films but I would want to work there as well. But right now I want to concentrate on TV. |
