ST: Kasautii Zindagii Kay is perceived as a love story... but now with a generation leap, do you think it will work in favour of the show?
EK: Generation leaps have always worked for our shows and we have always managed to renew the freshness of the shows. This time too, we will do it.

Ok, with Cezanne Khan out don't you think it was important to have Ronit Roy in the show? With him also out aren't you worried that the viewers' interest will fall?
Ronit is like the spice of the show. When we feel things are getting dull we get him back to add the masala. We can expect Ronit back anytime. The story is larger than all of us. We must do what is in the interest of the plot. And that's what has always brought our viewers back to us.

Weren't you worried about viewers' response considering Cezanne is moving out?
In fact, I'm very happy Cezanne is out and Hiten Tejwani is in as he is more than a welcome change and a much better performer.

In this new generation, who are the actors and how do you foresee them interacting with the viewers? Will they be able to sustain the same level of interest as Cezanne's and Ronit's characters?
The third generation has one more Prerna named after her grandmom. The new girl has an extremely identifiable and endearing face and we hope that the audience takes to her just as they identified with Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) five years back. The other six sisters are also extremely interesting characters.

What changes can the viewers expect in my (Prerna's) character now? How important is she in the new scheme of things?
Prerna like in any other character in reel or real life will evolve with different experiences in her life, as for now. She is against anything that's emotional or passionate, like love. She believes that emotions should never overrule logic. This is her present state of mind.
