Well, he wasn't God. But he was by far the best of the fathers, because even though he was stubborn, he was right in his thinking. Everything he did was for Shruti and Parvati. To the extent that when Parvati left the house during Shruti's wedding, and she met with her accident, even though he and Parvati were constantly fighting, the first thought that came to his mind when he heard that she was hurt was "she must be in so much pain.
