NB2 mars Shweta's return to Balaj

Contrary to reports,Kawaatra is not doing Ekta Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Navneet Nishan has now been finalised to play the role that was offered to Kawaatra in the Star Plus daily. Navneet will play Anahita Gill, a character that is very close to Mr Bajaj (Ronit Roy), and will make her entry today.

Spoilsport

Balaji took nearly a month to find the lady to play this role that was offered to also Shonali Malhotra Soni. Earlier, Kawaatra played Pallavi (now played by Achint Kaur) in Kapoor's Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.

When she had opted out of the show two years back, she said she didn't like where Pallavi's character was going anymore. This was a good second chance for her to return to mainstream television, but Nach Baliye 2 played spoilsport.

Shweta was very apprehensive of signing Kasautii... because of Nach Baliye 2. Also, there's a buzz that she asked for too much money.

HiTLIST had spoken to her when she was dilly-dallying on the offer. All that time she had said, "I don't think that I'll be able to devote myself to Nach Baliye 2 and Kasautii... together. Nach Baliye 2 has too many rehearsals and needs lot of time and commitment."

Busybees

Kasautii's creative head Ipshita tells us, "Shweta did allot some dates and time for the show. But when we sat down to chalk out her schedule, we realised that the time she had promised wasn't enough. Also, we had second thoughts on her because we couldn't afford to have two main characters busy dancing in Nach Baliye 2 (Shweta Tiwari and Shweta Kawaatra)."

What happened to Shonali Malhotra (Dil Kya Chahta Hai, Bollywood Aur Kya and Miilee)?

Ipshita explains, "Shobhaji knows her personally, and has also seen some of her work. But later, we thought that Shonali looked too young. We needed someone mature. So we went in for Navneet, who is also a very strong performer."
