I don't think sam acted stupid at all. It is better that she sat down and talked to Anu about her feelings. I think bajaj shouldn't have left like that either. He should have admitted his doubts to prerna. So far all the characters in the serial, be it Anurag, prerna, bajaj or apo*na, they all need to learn how to communicate with their respective spouses. It is better to clear such things instead of brooding jealousy. I like Sam for talking to Anurag.

But Sam did made a stupid decision by asking Anu to not meet Prerna. This isn't going to make any difference. Anurag will feel presurrized and this will just make anu-sam relationship weaker. Plus, i don't think not meeting prerna will make any difference in how Anu feels towards Prerna. A time period of 20 years and a distance of thousands of miles didn't make a difference in his feelings, then this won't work either. Sam is going to end up very hurt.
