Lol, Manoj said in an interview that the problem with Prem is that he's never fallen in love before (note the specific use of the word "before", this is Manoj's own word, meaning that even he acknowldges that Prem is in love), and so he has never been taught how to express his love....he's never been mothered by Aparna, just been groomed for revenge...the problem with Mukti (not really a problem, any girl would be the same) is that she needs a feeling to be EXPRESSED in words...if you jaunt back to Mukti's first event, and Prem's "proposal", I'll remind you of something. When Prem hands her the flowers, she thanks him and turns away, and then he apologises. When he says the words "I'm sorry", not only does she turn back around but she also takes a step towards him, indicating perhaps at that moment, her inclination to hear him out, the beginning of her forgiveness...and then he cocks it up with that crap apology, which is when she turns to stone again. If, instead of what he DID say, he had said that he knew that what he did was unforgivable but he still wanted to try and make it up to her, then maybe, she might have listened. That's his problem, he knows WHAT to say, but not HOW to say it.

I also think he's given up, on himself and his mother. I mean, all Prerna's ever done is beat him and give him bhashans (NOT that he doesn't usually deserve it), but to his mind, she hasn't given him LOVE. Now, we know that she loves him, but he thinks she hasn't shown him...at one point she did, which is when he made the change from UD to Prem...but of course, there was that whole tape incident not long after.

If you remember the Makar Sakranti festival, when Prem won the kite competition against Anu, both Mohini and ESPECIALLY Prerna, hugged Prem very lovingly and were delighted that he'd won. His expressions there showed all: for the first time, he was being loved. And that was when he stopped calling her Mother India and started calling her Maa.

All he really needs is a bit of mothering from his "Maa", rather than Mother India. But now both he and Prerna have closed up to each other in that respect, which is a shame. What we need, and I say this NOT as a sadist but as a pragmatist, is a serious accident of either Prem or Prerna (or even Mukti), so as to remind the other person how much they love each other, and to bring home the fear of losing that person. Only then will things begin to sort out between these people.

Yeah, Prerna has given up....but of course the mother inside of her will never lose hope....handling a person like Prem is a very tough situation....He has so many insecurites hiding behind his big ego....but I think something really drastic needs to happen for the mother-son relationship to progress...Prem needs to truly realize the importance of his mother....and how he would be truly lost without her....so something big needs to happen...and an accident I'm sure would do the trick....
